This is one of the two videos that Sarah asked me to make for Grace's first birthday yesterday. Everything went mostly well. The biggest hiccup was during the opening of the gifts when Caleb got upset that he didn't have anything to open. For those who are parents of two or more children at a very young age will understand this. Luckily, Caleb's birthday is in two weeks. Sarah said that from now on, she's having the two parties as a combined celebration to sort of avoid this type of situation. When I get the other video uploaded, I'll post it here. I may wait a bit because I want to make a few more vidoes now that I see how easy it is to make a .wmv file. There's still some areas that I want to play around with and learn about, like being able to save the file to a disc so that I can play the video on t.v.
Grace's party yesterday was the reason I didn't make it to the LexFa cook-out yesterday. I believe several people are planning on going to RenFaire on October 4, but I won't be able to go with them since that's the day Sarah is having Caleb's birthday party (albeit, belatedly). The weekend of October 11, I plan on going to some of the activities for the Perryville Battlefield Re-enactment. A friend and co-worker is one of the re-enactors. I need to update my read list, but need to figure out which ones I've recently read. Once I've remembered those, I'll update the list.
I survived yesterday's stong winds, mainly because I was not home. We lost electricity about 12:30 yesterday afternoon, meaning I had to get ready in the dark. I got home last night about 9:30 and the electricity was still out. I immediately went to check on my father, considering his health condition. He was okay; I had fixed him up with a portable oxygen tank just before I left and he said he had a neighbor and hook up a new one about 7:00. The electricity finally decided to come back online about 9:45, so I was able to go to sleep in relative the coolness of the air conditioner. Other than loss of electricity, the worst thing was that there are now tree limbs in the yard.
I'm in Gravel Switch at the moment because I came down for a baby shower Aunt Eileen had for Dana and Chris. Dana's due date is the 20th of August. I gave her (for the baby) a winter onsie type thing. I was going to give this to Keith (the name of Dana and Chris' expected child) cor Christmas, but I already had it on hand and didn't have time or money to grab anything from when I was told about the baby shower till today. I had a good time.
Also signed the card Aunt Eileen had gotten for Holly because she finally got her certificate of graduation from where Aunt Cathy had been home-schooling Holly.
My back has been hurting quite a lot here lately, but I think it's from my mattress being several years old and finally wearing out. Tanya had an extra mattress that she was trying to get rid of, and it was the size I needed, so we both benefitted. Hopefully this will help my back.
Went to see Kung Fu Panda Thursday with Tanya and Ethan. Beforehand, we had gone to eat at Crackel Barrel with Aunt Eileen, who wound up doing a couple of errands while we were at the movie. Kung Fu Panda was real cute; I may actually buy this movie once it hits dvd.
I'm still in the land of the living, I just haven't updated much lately. Oh, I keep up everyday, but usually by the time I get home from work and check my email and f-list on lj, I'm usually too tired/sore to make much of an update. I'm usually trying to keep up with my Netflix list and book reading also, but I haven't even sent in the two discs I've got now for over a week now. Also, now that I finally got the disc drive replaced, I've been trying to load music on to the drive so that I can have a list to chose from to place on my mp3 player. I've been to two weddings, and when I get a chance, I'll load the pictures/video when I can.
I can deal with this. Even though you don't actually see her using the Force in the movies, she probably has a strong dose of it considering who her father is. Also, she's got a great figure and winds up with Han Solo.

In the past two weeks, I have received two pieces of bad news and one piece of good news. On May 9th, I was talking to Aunt Eileen and she said that Uncle Jack had received the results of his PET scan to find out that he has a spot on his lung. He got these results the day before, which also happened to be his birthday. Not exaclty the kind of present one wants. He's not going to do anything at the moment, partly because he's still not in the best condition from all of the other shit that has hit him from the colon cancer issues.
Yesterday morning, I had taken up a bag of stuff I had picked up for my father and I got my mail at the same time. I got a graduating class of 2008 card from my first cousing Phillip. Inside, he had included a senior photo. It's been about 10 years since the last time I had seen him, and my, has he grown up.
Yesterday afternoon, I checked my email only to find out that my sister, annathepiper, is having her cancerous problem resurface despite the six weeks of radiation treatment she just went through. She faces the prospect of a mastectomy at this point, and can find out more of what's going on over at her journal under the tag of bffn.
Anyways, that the big pieces of news. I may later try to post a few pictures taken from Mother's Day in Gravel Switch. Here's my updated book list:
18. Katherine Kurtz Deryni Checkmate 19. Katherine Kurtz High Deryni 20. Katherine Kurtz The Bishop's Heir 21. Katherine Kurtz The Quest for Saint Camber 22.Katherine Kurtz King Kelson's Bride 23. Bertrice Small Rosamund 24. Melanie Rawn Dragon Prince
I know that in this latest set of books, I've got a lot of Katherine Kurtz books, but after reading Childe Morgan, I finally made the connection between King Kelson's time and Camber's time and made a run through of the handful of books that had been sitting on my shelf unread for many, many moons.

It's been some time since I've had anything to write about other than my book list, which I'll get to shortly. This is also the first time I've actually been in a mood to update anyhing. Oh, I've been keeping up with what others have been writing, but because of working third shift, I'm often too tired or in much of a mood to write anything. I pretty much go to work, go home, eat if I feel like it, and go to sleep. I try to cook here and there, enough to last a few days and to do some house cleaning when I feel like it or when I absolutely have to, but today has been the first day in many weeks that my give-a-damn hasn't left me. I read quite a lot, but some of that is to help me ease my body from the usual low state of pain from standing up all night to a point where I can get some sleep.
Anyway, here's my list of books read, leaving off from my last posted list:
10. Andre Norton - Brother of Shadows 11. Lee Nichols - Wednesday Night Witches 12. Anne McCaffrey - Dragonflight 13. Deborah Cooke - Kiss of Fire 14. Katherine Kurtz - Childe Morgan 15. Mercedes Lackey - Oathbound 16. Mercedes Lackey - Oathbreadkers 17. Katherine Kurtz - Deryni Rising
At the rate I'm going, I'll definitely reach my goal of reading 50 books (either new reads or re-reads, it makes no difference) by the end of the year. I'm averaging about 5 books a month or just over 1 book a week. If I keep to this schedule, I should reach my goal, with a couple to spare, which is okay with me.

annathepiper, thought you'd like to see this snippet of video I took of Grace and Daniel while we were at Grandma's house on Easter. Sorry the video is a bit dark, the video camera I have isn't the best quality and there wasn't much light in the room.

heard a song and thought you knew the tune, but couldn't place the name of it or where you've heard it? I'm currently watching the end of The Bridge Over the River Kwai. The song that the British whistle as they march into the POW camp and again at the end as they march across the bridge sounds very familiar, but I can't place it.

Sorry people for being away for over a month. At first, my keyboard broke down on me and I was using the on-screen keyboard. Then it got to the point where I got out of the habit of posting.
I want to wish annathepiper a very belated birthday. Sorry for not sending wishes sooner, there is no exuse for my absence of mind.
I got my taxes filed and spent most of it already. I got the oil changed in my car, got new windshield wipers and got the tires rotated. I spent close to $200 getting more clothes for work. We don't wear a uniform per se, but we do have to wear navy colored tops and khaki pants, of which I got more of. I also got some more bras and some shoes. I also got a 19" t.v. I was tired of watching things on the 13" one given to me. I also got a new dvd player because the one I had was not happy playing some of the dvds I had. I also got season two of seaQuest, of which there were many episodes that I had not seen, even if I wasn't entirely happy with the direction the show went. Not that the season was terrible, just not as good as the first season. annathepiper, you may be surprised to know that Mark Hamil made appearances in two of the episodes, one of which was the season finale; the finale was set up as a big cliff hanger and I can't remember if he shows up in the opener for season three.
Empire of Ivory rivals the first book in this series as my favorite for this series. Novik wrote this book wonderfully and set up the next one rather well.
Watched 3:10 to Yuma and loved it. I'm not a big western themed movie person, but who can resist Russell Crowe. Also, I like Christian Bale's acting. He's not big on my list of likable male actors, but this was one of his better performances, I believe.
Waiting for the dvd release of American Gangster.
Upset that the release of the new Star Trek movie has been delayed by six months. As time passes, I am both positively and negatively thinking this can be pulled off after ten previous movies and four television shows. At the moment, the idea that the new Indiana Jones movie is to be released in May is a huge consolation.
That's about all I want to say at the moment. If I think of anything else, I'll stop by, hopefully sooner next time.
1. Amy Tan - The Opposite of Fate: This is a decent book about the author's life. Makes me want to go back and re-try her book, The Hundred Secret Senses, which is on my bookshelf.
I'd give 3 out of 5 stars.

“Here are some of my New Year's resolutions for the new year. I want to read at least 50 books for the coming year and make the post to live journal. I want to get rid of my credit card debts which hopefully will be possible, and I want to lose some weight and consider getting a list together for 101 things to do within the next 2 years, for the 101 missions thing, whatever. I'll think of some more New Year's resolutions nd get back with you. Bye.”
