Every time the semester ends, I have this horrible anxious icky feeling. Prolly because I'll be spending most my summer in the bakery department. Buuut, when you have student loans, what can you do?
Grades come out Tuesday. I think I did poorly in the ACS Organic Chemistry exam and my plant bio class exam. I might've scored a B in physics, though.
I was picking up my room and putting away all the books that I'd been toting in my truck all winter, when I sat down and flipped through my big sketchbook from 2006. I don't think I'm bragging when I say I was getting pretty good before I quit the art stuff. The things I've been drawing lately just kinda suck. But...hopefully I can put the biochemistry to better use than drawing dragons and dinosaurs.
Anyway, a meme that may largely go ignored, but was required for the answering of another. First one of 2008.
Leave a comment and I will a) tell you why I friended you, b) associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, etc., c) tell you something I like about you, d) tell you a memory I have of you, e) ask something I've always wanted to know about you, f) tell you my favorite user pic of yours, g) in return, you must post this in your LJ.

Argh...I know I'm just putting off studying for my Organic Chem exam tomorrow, but here I am. I've been feeling really nostalgic lately, ever since I had a conversation with Leon about the past few years. We agreed that 2003 had been the best year, and that things have been going steadily downhill ever since. With him graduating and me facing another long, grueling two years in the biochemistry program, I haven't been feeling too energetic recently. Grades have been getting me down because I can't seem to work myself up past the 'B' department. It's probably nothing to complain about, but it still makes me sad.
I did re-watch "V for Vendetta" Friday night. I had forgotten how gorgeous it was. I drew a little sketch that I'll post this week with "Vinnazu" complete with Guy Fawkes mask, bob, and flowery apron, weilding a pair of knives and inviting the viewer to taste his cooking. In my exhaustion, I found the image of a homicidal terrorist cooking in a frilly apron absolutely hilarious (and kinky). I had also forgotten how powerful the whole "coming out" scene was when Evey emerges from the false imprisonment and stands in the rain. All in all a good flick.
Can't wait for school to get out. My brain has been leaking all over the place from the torture I've been putting it through. I'll be glad when it's all over.... |

I've been getting spammage on some of my older entries, so I guess it's time to update once in awhile to avoid being tagged. This never happened when the account was more active.
Basically, I've started a swimming regimen this semester, wherein I get up at 6 AM, drive to school to snag a parking spot close to the chemistry department (the best lot fills up by 7:30), and swim for an hour before my first class at 9:10. After that, it's classes all day until 2 PM, then I go to work until 9. This is about the extent of my days most of the week.
I'd like to put up some photos of the bugs I've been catching--I'm taking an Aquatic Entomology course where once a week I suit up in big, sexy waterproof boots and muck around the local streams with a giant net and scoop up insects for an hour. Then we take them back to the lab and murder them in ethanol. I was sad at first for their fate, but considering the prolific amounts of wiggly stuff in streams (even in 20 degree weather...with snow!!!), it's not like we're bagging pandas on a routine basis. I've quelled the guilt somewhat, considering I dismembered earthworms, grasshoppers, leeches, jellyfish, frogs, and even a fetal pig last semester.
I'm also considering switching to Biochemistry, since the biological slant to the Ecological Sciences degree has become tiresome. Next semester I'm taking Biochem I, Cell, and perhaps another chemistry class, depending on how I do in Organic Chem II this semester. I'm struggling at this point, but we haven't had an exam yet to really test how much I've retained from last year.
Eventually, I'll have photos and update more. At this point, I'm making veggie soup and procrastinating on finishing Organic homework and studying for my Physics exam tomorrow. Ah well.
