See, the problem with shit like Outlook is it's all closed source. Notes isn't. Specifically, notes stores everything in a database and uses a template to format that data. The template is open source and freely modifiable. Which means, I can take the normal notes mail template and do all sorts of crazy shit to it. I can't TOUCH anything in outlook that MS doesn't explicitly allow me to.

Hell, there are open source replacement mail templates available (http://www.openntf.org) that totally change the look & feel of notes.

Here's a quick (yet small) example of something I did in Notes that would be impossible in Outlook. We have a quota on user's mail files. It's a soft quota, so they can still receive but not send once they hit it. Well to help them out I added some features.

well, in case you didn't know we got a call on Thursday from my uncle who lives in Green Bay informing us he had spare tickets to the GB - Seattle playoff game this saturday. Needless to say, we ditched everything and went.


It was awesome and frreaking magical. 33 degrees, huge amounts of fluffy snow falling, the Pack rolling. Aye, was great. I took some pictures -- unfortunately the combination of me sucking + snow + shitting light + fans = not so great, but you might get an idea!

• I got a promotion. I'm an Information Technology Infrastructure Support Analyst for Department of Adminstrative Service, Information Management Services, State of Nebraska. That's the bestest title ever! :)


• 12 weeks no food = 70.6 lbs gone
