Today's Fortune: Soon, someone will make you very proud. This past weekend I was indeed in Baltimore, Maryland, at another Otakon Convention. Left early Friday morning (3:00am), arriving at the Hotel at 11:00am. Though I seem to got sick along the drive up from something I ate, I survived for a semi-day of fun. Broke in line going into the Dealer's Room... oh well... nobody cared. Surprisingly enough, I actually didn't purchase one thing in the Dealer's room this year; partly at fault because of my trip to Japan just three weeks ago. Anyway, hanged out with people, ate dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen and kind of wondered around till I got tired and went to the hotel. I stayed at the same hotel as last year, the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel, which this year they hooked me up with a much nicer and quieter room than last year. Big props to the Hotel this year. Saturday did much the same stuff, ate lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, took a lot of pictures, had dinner at a Japanese restaurant in Harborplace, went to the 4chan panel (my third attempt to get into the panel, finally successful), and eventually went to bed. Sunday, I ate lunch at H00ters, took pictures, checked out one of the free concerts at the convention, and eventually drove back home to Charlotte... arriving back before 11:00pm. That's pretty much it in a nut-shell. Took over 550 pictures at the convention, though I will not post nearly that many online when I get done. The weather was amazing this year at Otakon, with highs in the low 80's for the most part, low humidity... it was probably as close to perfect as you can get. Had a good time overall. Next Friday I will be driving from Charlotte to Baltimore, with a (detour) stop in Raleigh. The drive, should be around 9-10 hours total; not looking too fond of that, but oh well. I'm already pre-registered for Otakon, so I'm good on that end. I will be staying at the lovely Renaissance Harborplace Hotel again for the entire weekend. The Baltimore Orioles will be in Oakland also, so it shouldn't be as crowded like it was last year at the harbor place when the Yankees were in town. I have added twenty more pictures of my Tokyo Vacation on Photobucket, as adding several other vacations/events there. Here are the links: - 2007 Tokyo Trip
- Speed Street
- 2004 Toronto Trip
- 2004 Seattle Trip
I will add more pictures on photobucket, like last year's Hawaiian vacation; I like the simple method photobucket uses. Also, I doubt it will hit the bandwidth limits since they are normal pictures, nothing really specialized like cosplay. Enjoy the photos guys and hope to see some of you at Otakon! Yep, after a two month gap, I have finally added the remaining pictures from Otakon 2006 online. I had a couple of set-backs that caused the delay, mainly the hard drive that had all the pictures crashed. Luckily, I did burn a DVD copy of the pictures; and after much searching, I finally got it loaded back on the computer and now on Washu.org. So check'em out: http://www.washu.org/cosplay/ota06/index.html (Con Report will be added later). As for yesterday, because of the weather, the plan changed from going to Cullowhee to Hickory. While in Hickory, I went and saw the Borat movie. Personally, I thought it was hilarious. I think most people on my friends list (on LJ) would enjoy this movie too. Overall, had a good time in Hickory. Most amusement was the mall, where it was Teen Central... so much drama and scoping. I can't understand how josephowens can not get laid in Hickory, you know they all doing it (some had babies). Today, well... I mostly worked on the Otakon pictures. But I also worked on reorganizing my computer files, which took several hours to clean-up. But I'm done for now, so it's off to more online gaming with FFXI. Later... Today's Fortune: "Need some adventure and enjoyment? Take a vacation."Today I attempted to wash my comforter on my own... by going to a laundry mat and using one of those big bertha machines. Well, found out the closes place to me was in Pineville, so I went there... and they didn't use quarters, I had to have the proprietor there use her special card and charge me later. I got it was and... uh... semi-dried. I didn't want to stay there too late, so I have tried to dry it some more in my dryer. Well... its still slightly damp, but not too bad, I sleep in it nonetheless. More Otakon pictures posted online, now at 66% completed. You may check them out at: http://www.washu.org/cosplay/ota06/index.htmlIn Final Fantasy XI news: I am now 4/5 complete on my Cleric's Relic Gear, just need that rare Cleric's Briault and my White Mage will be complete. For my Red Mage job, I have gone the different route now by upgrading all Warlock armor. This pass Sunday, I received an improved Warlock's Tabard +1, which is really nice; plus I also learned Phalanx II, so now I'm a Paladin's best friend indeed. I have also finished the quest "Ancient Flames Beakon, Once More", which sucked; and now on "Apocalypse Nigh", which rocks. Watched all the Cutscenes for it and it is freakin' sweet (clip below of me and the gang ready for battle, note the Dark Staff of Justice in hand). Haven't done the actual fight yet since I don't have anybody to help me... solo is not an option. This will probably take me some time to find a group that has this quest, oh well.
