autistics.org (and gettingthetruthout.org, and everything else on that server) is going down for physical repair on the server for a few days. Don't panic. And don't comment on my blog there, because it'll probably vaporize.

Sorry for any confusion.Autistic Success My brief submitted to The Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science, and Technology by janet norman-bain http://www.isn.net/~jypsy/AuSpin/senate05.htm Wed, Jun. 29th, 2005, 08:44 am Updates
I updated the front page of autistics.org awhile ago to reflect the current situation. (Which appears to be ongoing — one person's made it out of bed only to be deluged with other things that need to be done right now and is on the verge of a crash, two are at Autreat, and I'm not making it to the computer as much as usual lately. Having four people was supposed to avoid this sort of thing, but I guess it was inevitable that at some point we'd all be busy or having problems at the same time, and that at that point, the site would go down.) I updated the booklist today. I added a section for anthologies edited by non-autistic people, and then added lists of contributors to anthologies (in that section and the previous section) with autistic contributors in bold. I'm still out here, I'm just quiet and, as I said, not making it to the computer as much as usual lately.

Fri, May. 13th, 2005, 10:44 pm Library updates
"Help! I seem to be getting more autistic!" has been updated with two new sections and a new link. Leadership in the Autism Community, by Michelle Dawson, has been added, quite awhile ago (I can't remember if I remembered to announce that). The "Michelle Dawson" section of the index page has been moved down by the "Autistic Perspective" section since it seemed to make sense to have it there. And an update on the "webpage that doesn't exist?" has been added to the front page of autistics.org. It appears to really not exist anymore, although instead of deleting the webpage outright, they seem to have exchanged it for a resources section. I'm beginning to wonder if we were dealing with someone who really didn't know their way around running a website and thought that eliminating a link to a page was equivalent to eliminating a page from the site, and maybe now doesn't know how to delete the webpage. I don't know. But the page no longer shows the poem we were talking about, although I don't think either of us explicitly asked for its removal. And a note: I'm sorry for not updating the booklist, and doing it nearly at random. My life is chaos right now. I have gotten emails about several things to add and I'll add them eventually. Thu, Mar. 10th, 2005, 08:29 am Library
Addition to Library: http://www.autistics.org/library/understand.htmlThis is written to expose the real message behind the words of some of the patronizing and controlling people — mostly non-disabled 'advisors' — I have met in my experiences with 'self-advocacy'. Thu, Feb. 24th, 2005, 06:24 pm Rabbit emergency
Found on a rabbit community, any Bay Area people reading this can contact the people below. I'd do this but there's no way I'd be able to foster a rabbit in a no-pets studio apartment (everything from here on is just crossposted from somewhere else):13 Bay Area Bunnies to be Euthanized on Saturday (02/26) 13 wonderful bunnies are going to be put down on Saturday. They are lovely :( it's so horribly depressing. Pictures: http://www.saveabunny.com/sv_bunnies.jpghttp://www.saveabunny.com/sv_bunnies_1.jpghttp://www.saveabunny.com/sv_bunnies_2.jpgWe haven't had a single person anywhere offer to help, not even for a foster home :( We are probably going to be able to get 3 out... that's it, and two of them are just shelter transfers. Please can't someone help -- just to foster? Please? :( Please know we only post euthanasia alerts when it is genuinely imminent and our resources are maxxed out. Sorry to pass along hard news like this. These buns need help from the rabbit lover community. ( Read more... ) Sun, Feb. 13th, 2005, 04:58 pm Library
Mon, Jan. 10th, 2005, 10:56 am ATTN anyone who links to Jane Meyerding's website
Her site has been moved to the following address: http://mjane.zolaweb.com/All links to anything on her site need to be updated to links to the corresponding documents on that site, which is fairly easy, it's just substitute mjane.zolaweb.com/ every time you see staff.washington.edu/mjane/ and then everything after that is the same. (I know I still need to do this, I'll get to it later.) Fri, Jan. 7th, 2005, 07:08 pm Library
