Twilight [Aug. 15th, 2008|08:23 pm]
Just got a cool e-mail. The Twilight movie is going to be in theaters three weeks earlier than they were originally planning! I think it's probably to capitalize on the fact that the Harry Potter movie has been pushed back until next summer.

Running [Jul. 20th, 2008|09:49 pm]

[music |Evan And Jaron]

So it took me awhile to get around to it, but about a month ago my apartment complex finally got around to getting us keys to the workout center so I can go in when the main office is closed. So I have been going nearly everyday to workout on the treadmill. I never thought I'd enjoy running, but it's actually nice to be able to put on some music and just go. I still haven't taken it out to the streets, though. I'm finally starting to build up some endurance - in this case where I can run at a pretty good speed for at least four or five minutes. Not much, but definitely more than I was able to do even a few weeks ago.

My friend and I were talking about how we both want to get in shape when we went out to dinner the other night. She knows I've taken up running and that I want to try to run a 5k sometime this year. She mentioned one in our city this December and we decided to both train to run it. Whoever runs it fastest will get some sort of prize. We haven't decided what it is yet, but I'm really excited. It actually gives me something specific that I'm working toward besides just trying to get in shape. Although that in itself is a goal since I want to try to look nice for the holidays.

I went through my iTunes library and created a workout playlist, but already that's starting to get old. I think I'm going to have to download some new music. If anyone has a rec for songs that they use feel free to comment!

Hey I'm hoping someone out there who might see this has a copy of the song "I'll Stand By You." I'm looking for the version that Carrie Underwood sang on the American Idol Gives Back show last year. I didn't have a computer that could support iTunes back then, and I'd really like to get that song.

If anyone has any Vonda Shepard songs too I'd be forever grateful. iTunes and the like only sell ones that I already have/don't want. In particular I'm looking for the song "I Know Him By Heart."

Thanks!

Running Is Harder Than It Looks! [Apr. 8th, 2008|08:25 pm]

[music |"Picture To Burn" By Taylor Swift]

I've been doing pretty good about getting out and exercising. I figure I might as well use the expensive running shows I bought. Even with the work outs I've been doing over the past 7 or 8 months I can definitely tell that I'm nowhere near as in shape as I'd like to be.

I've never been a runner. I love playing sports, but running by itself was never something I enjoyed. I'm actually enjoying it now - even if I am walking more than running at this point. My goal is to run a 5k sometime in the near future. I researched a few in my area and it seems like they're happening just about every weekend so I've got options once I've worked up my endurance and the distance I can run. I used the treadmill in the workout center at my apartment complex, which I enjoy because I can see the distance I'm covering and I don't feel as self conscious. It's taken them forever, but they are finally getting the new locks installed so that they can give us keys to use the workout room when the main office isn't open. That will make it easier for me to get in there since their office hours are exactly the same as my work hours.

Have any of you read the new Supernatural Season Two Companion or the new issue of the magazine? I know the book just came out today, but I'm sure that someone has already gotten it. I just want to hear someone's opinion on if it's worth buying.

I think I'm becoming addicted to concerts. I've been to at least 7 or 8 in the last couple of years, and I think there are a couple more I might try to make it to this year. More on it later, but the Rascal Flatts concert was amazing, and Taylor Swift was a great opening act! I really enjoyed her CD and was impressed that she put on such a good show.

iTunes, Spong Monkeys, and Rascal Flatts [Apr. 2nd, 2008|10:51 pm]

[music |"Our Song" By Taylor Swift]

Ok, so maybe this new computer was a bad idea after all. I think I'm forming an addiction to iTunes. It's such an easy way to get new music I like and find old songs I haven't heard in awhile. Since I got this computer just about a month ago I've made 3 purchases of multiple songs. Maybe, (hopefully) the novelty of iTunes will wear off soon...then again maybe not because I just figured out that you can purchase songs from other versions of the store. I was looking through the UK store and found some stuff not available on US versions of CDs by artists I like.

I've also played quite a bit of Sims 2. I actually got the deluxe edition for $5 from someone who was selling it on my company's classified ads. I do enjoy playing it, but even though it's not my favorite game - or in most cases what I would prefer to do in my free time - it's still really easy to get sucked into playing it for hours on end.

I have enjoyed checking out videos on Youtube and the like, but I don't go there as much as I did in the first week I got the computer. I did get a laugh out of looking up the old "We Like the Subs" Spong Monkeys Quizno's Subs commercial my friend and I always got a kick out of. You really can find the strangest things on the internet.

Yesterday I thought I'd check online and see what kinds of tickets were still available for the Rascal Flatts concert. I was able to find an awesome seat so I figured why not go. I know I'll have a great time even if I did see them just last year. Taylor Swift is opening for them and I really like her music too. Last time it was Jason Aldean and even though I had heard of him I didn't know any of his songs. The concert is this Saturday and it will be the first one I've been to in awhile. I think the last one was when I went to see Michael Buble with a group of my college friends in August. That was the second time I saw him live, and he puts on an amazing show. I love the end when he sings "A Song For You" acapella. The concert was in an actual concert hall instead of a regular venue or arena and it had great acoustics. I've now seen him twice and this will be my third Rascal Flatts concert. I saw them for the first time when they played at a local fair. Seats in the grand stand were free and my friends were good sports and went along with me. I'm really looking forward to the concert this weekend, and I think I even have a better seat than last time. Carrie Underwood is coming this fall, but I don't know if I have anyone who'd go with me and the tickets are really expensive, but I'll probably end up going regardless.

I've been going to a lot of concerts over the past couple years. I think I've been to eight, and it actually started with the first time I saw Michael Buble in July, 2006. Since that first Michael Buble concert I've seen him again, Rascal Flatts twice, Switchfoot, Anna Nalick and Teddy Geiger in a joint show, Matt Maher, and Kelly Clarkson (my sister got free tickets it was cool and I got to meet Rooney, the opening act). Before that I'd been to concerts sporadically, but not as frequently as I do now. I had seen the Rascal Flatts at the Fair, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Paula Abdul, and a show for a local radio station that had a big line up of artists.

Paula Abdul was my first concert when I was 10, Backstreet Boys was a gift for my 14th birthday, and *NSYNC was just because my sister and I were fans. I gotta say those boy bands really did put on a heck of a show - even Color Me Badd who opened for Paula...wow that makes me feel old.

Running Shoes [Mar. 25th, 2008|11:23 pm]
[Tags|]

I just bought my first pair of real running shoes, and I have been toying with the idea of getting into running for quite awhile. I know it's great exercise and since you can do it anywhere it's free (except for the price of the shoes I just bought...). I looked up a calender of 5k races in the area because I figure I've gotta start with something smaller than a full marathon. I am really excited to try this. There's one in June that I might try for, maybe I'll even try for something earlier.

Any of you out there runners with tips for me?

Overtime [Mar. 24th, 2008|06:57 pm]
[mood | anxious]

Now that I have a new computer I can do overtime for work from home. On the plus side it means I don't have to drive into work if I want to do it, but now I feel pressure to work anytime I have free time. I do need the extra money, but I don't want to burn myself out by working overtime constantly. It's hard to find a balance...although I guess I could be doing overtime now instead of complaining about it in my LJ so maybe I don't need to worry about it after all.

This is just a shot in the dark because I don't know if anyone on here is a) a fan of Rascal Flatts who has gone to see them on the tour they are out on right now or b) if anyone even reads this anymore, but has anyone seen the tour and is it worth going? I know I'd enjoy it, and I would like to see Taylor Swift, but I don't know if it's worth the money since I did see them almost exactly one year ago.

Computer! [Mar. 18th, 2008|10:45 pm]
[mood | cold]

So I finally went and bought a new computer. After 10 years and a monitor that no longer showed the color red I figured it was time for an upgrade. It's great to have a computer that doesn't freeze every couple hours or doesn't kick me out of programs online since it can't keep up. I'm not sure yet whether it means I'll be making more time for livejournal, but I'd really like to get back into using it.

As for now I'm going to kick back and enjoy all the sites like myspace and youtube that my old computer refused to run.

Old Music [Jul. 19th, 2007|06:11 pm]

[music |"Everything" By Michael Buble]

One of the local radio stations does something called "Damn, I Haven't Heard That In Awhile" where they have listeners vote on two songs that haven't been played on the radio in awhile. Tonight's winning selection was Larger Than Life by the Backstreet Boys which I was surprised to find I still knew all the words to. I then changed the radio station to find Bring It All To Me by Blaque and JC Chasez playing. It was quite amusing (still) to hear JC sing about his "thug appeal". I got off work later than normal today and it was nice to have something entertaining to drive home to. Do any of you still listen to your boy band CDs?

Oh and thanks to [info]iamtheenemy for the info on Lou Pearlman. All I have to say is it's about time.

[music |"Feeling Good" By Michael Buble]

Hey all,

I haven't been updating here hardly at all (and I blame work for blocking LJ haha). I would like to know what you guys have been up to, though. Leave me a comment with what's been going on with you. All I've been doing lately is working, but I did go to Disneyland with a friend at the end of April. It was the first time I had been there since I was 10, and I had a lot of fun. It was the first vacation I've ever taken that was planned by me only.

As of right now I think the next trip I want to take is to NYC. I've got to save some more money before I can really start planning it out, though. I figure maybe next year although I might be going to Australia too so who knows.

The only other semi-interesting piece of news I have is that a coworker of mine did meet Jensen Ackles a little while back. He wasn't there the same time that I met Jared, though. It should have been me - he doesn't even watch the show!

I know I keep saying it, but I'll try to update more here and keep up with you all.

Too bad lj isn't accessible from work or I'd probably update from there all the time.

Celebrity [Oct. 11th, 2006|03:43 pm]

[mood | excited]
[music |Grey's Antomy On TV]

So far this year (well since May, really) I have met a large group of different celebrties including bands and actors in some of my favorite shows. The best two have been meetin Switchfoot and Jared Padalecki, but there's been a lot more than that:

1. Phil Keoghan, host of the Amazing Race

2. Michael Buble (ok so I didn't meet him but I did have a fifth row seat at his concert and I got to touch his hand oh la la)

3. Pink

4. Aly and AJ

5. Rooney (including the guy from the Princess Diaries)

6. Marcus Trufant, a Seahawks Player

7. Clay Aiken

8. Switchfoot

9. James Pickens a.k.a. Dr. Weber on Grey's Anatomy

10. Matt Maher (most people probably don't know who he is)

11. Jared Padalecki

Out of that list I have autographs from 9 of them. I've also gotten to shake the hands of Jon Foreman of Switchfoot and most recently (as I met him last Saturday) Jared Padalecki.

I ran into Jared at the airport when he was flying to Vegas for the Playboy party that both he and Jensen went to. I got on the tram to go between terminals at the same time he did so I was standing about 5 feet away from him for about 5 minutes. I figured I wouldn't say anything to him then because there was a bunch of other people around and I didn't want to draw too much attention to him. So I waited until we reached the other terminal.

Once we got to the other terminal he exited through one door and I got off through the other. I had to work my way through the crowd but then I ended up standing right next to him and I said excuse me to get his attention, and then I asked him for an autograph. He said sure, and asked me what my name was and then kind of laughed when he realized I was wearing a name tag. I said I was a huge fan of the show, and he said thanks.

He said sorry that his handwriting might look funny, but that he'd broken his wrist. I told him I'd heard about that and how they'd had to write it into the show. As he was signing the autograph I asked him where he was headed and he said he was going to Vegas with his girlfriend. I said I hoped for fun instead of work, and he said it was and that randomly one of his buddies was having a bachelor party down there this weekend as well.

He gave me back my autograph and pen and then I don't know what came over me but I held out my hand to shake his. And he shook my hand, and said bye and headed off to his flight. He was really nice and he is so tall! I had heard that he was really tall, but being only about 5'4" and standing next to him I felt really short. Oh yeah, and he has a really nice smile :) lol

Any other questions? I hope that covers it all (this message broguht to you by the insistance of [info]iamtheenemy)

So to make [info]iamtheenemy happy I will update soon...very soon I promise, with info on all my encouters with celebs, but mostly Jared because meeting him was definately a highlight, lol. : )

I'd love to hear about how everyone's doing. When I get a chance I'm going to go back and read up on your guys'LJ's. Hope everything's going well. I'll update again as soon as I can!

[music |"This Is Your Life" By Switchfoot]

So I've just been in my first fender bender car accident. Thank God that no one was hurt and it was just me and one other car. I am still pretty freaked out about it, though, especially since I'm really hurting for money right now. I'm sure it'll get worked out. Thank goodness I'm at home right now and as stupid as I feel (this is really the absolutely worst time this could have happened in the time I've had the car) and as much as I am not looking forward to discussing this with my parents tonight (I'm at home job searching) I'm just glad that it's only surface damage to my bumper and a little to my hood. I probably won't be able to get my car fixed at a body shop for awhile, though, because I am probably going to be paying out of pocket to fix his car.

Anyway more later, I'm off to a job interview.

Superbowl Sunday! [Feb. 5th, 2006|10:33 am]
[mood | excited]
[music |The TV]

I went all out for the Seahawks first Superbowl and I made this cake recipe that I got froma newspaper ad. Basically it's just a chocolate cake with coffee substituted for the water in the recipe and it has homemade frosting too. I even made field goal posts to stick in each end of the cake and a football to put in it too.

I am so excited. I grew up with a dad who supported the home team even when they were having a losing season. It rubbed off on me so even when I didn't like football I supported the Seahawks. That makes this even better now that I love football. Too bad most of the rest of the country supports the Steelers-however most times when reporters or whoever give their opinion of who will win it's pretty much been the Seahawks.
