In which I talk about Watchmen again
Because we all should watch the trailer again.
This post is stemming from an entry over at one of the SPN comms about pics from Watchmen, more specifically the swooning over a still shot of Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Now, I'm as excited as the next person about this, but the shot in question was from a scene that, honestly, is not one of The Comedian's shining moments. So, while I'm excited to see him, the swooning just isn't working for me when put into context. However, it occurred to me that some people are ONLY excited about JDM's appearance and may know jack all about the source and his character. In which case, the sight of Papa Winchester in leather and brandishing a handgun would draw folks' eyes. I thought on it and had to make a poll. I've read Watchmen, and I've been excited about it ever since news of its production. JDM is just icing on the cake. I've read Watchmen, and I've been excited about it ever since news of its production. Doesn't matter to me that JDM is in it. I've read Watchmen, and I'm indifferent to the source. I'll see it for JDM though. I've read Watchmen, and I'm not touching this movie with a 10 foot poll. I've NOT read Watchmen, but I'll see it if JDM is in it. I've NOT read Watchmen, but the trailer has intrigued me. I've NOT read Watchmen, and I have no interest to see the movie either. |

You will all go see Batman now. I don't care what time it is by you, if you have to be at work instead, or if you have to take care of the kids. Go. Now. Hell, invite everyone along.
Jebus, what did I just watch, other than possibly the best comic book movie ever made? |

The trailer for Watchmen. I could seriously just view this over and over again, if only for JDM in leather with that slow, cocky smile. Edit: well, that didn't take long to get yoinked. New links: http://www.joblo.com/video/joblo/pl http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/t |

SPN got one Emmy nod. One, for Outstanding Sound Editing For A Series (Jus In Bello). Now, I completely understand that it's not going to be for sometime hardcore like Best Actor in a Drama Series, but come on! Couldn't even get something for Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series or Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series.
*sigh* Seems like we'd be shoe-ins for those. Oh well, I'm still going to be happy for the show for getting the one nod. I'm just wondering if they'll air that category in the actual televised event, and if so, what clip from the ep will they show? |

I rarely listen to the radio. I have a real problem with the popular songs being overplayed to death, so that every time you tune in, you hear the same 4 songs over and over again. In fact, I tend to stick with classic rock stations if I can. Sean, however, loves the radio. Especially when we're in DFW, because then he can pick up The Edge.
Well, a couple weekends ago, we were in the area, listening to the same songs over and over again *sigh* when one cut in that I had never heard before. Both Sean and I were really quiet, enjoying the heck out it. And when it was over, nothing. No DJ came on to tell us what the song was called or even who sang it. And it's driven me insane since then, because when I hear something I like, I WANT it. I was all set to post a spnstoryfinders-worthy inquiry with the vaguest clues to what I could possibly be looking for. I was watching Dr. Doolittle 2 just now, and a commercial for the Baseball Allstar Game came on. And the song was playing in the freaking background! One quick Google search later, and I now have a copy of "Lazy Eye" by Silversun Pickups. Now, who's actually heard it before, so I know whether I was right driving myself insane? |

I...don't know what to think of this. REPO!: The Genetic Opera. http://www.repo-opera.com/flash_home.ht
On the plus side: gore, a decent and successful story (if their stage run is anything to go by), and Anthony Stewart Head singing. On the negative: Done by the producers of Saw (sorry, just never liked the movies), looking pretty lewd, might be a little jarring and discordant, and Paris Hilton singing. Keep all those in mind before watching the teaser. |

Don't you just love when the networks/studios write the unlikely crossovers for us?

Hodge-podge
Don't think most folks noticed, but I'm back from a long weekend. Looking for a new apartment, visiting the fam, just enjoying that last 5 days. Caught the tail end of the drama, so I'm not really sure what's going on, but *hugs* all around.
Saw Wall-E last week on my sister's dime and Hancock tonight with the man. Both were enjoyable, but I definitely loved Wall-E more. A lot more. My paid account ran out while I was gone. Someone needs to talk me out of renewing it because that's $20 I can definitely use in the move. Tomorrow will be dedicated to catching up on Big Bang. Answering all my comments, and reading the fic I missed Fri/Mon/Tues. Aaaaaand, scene. |

So I spent most of yesterday dodging casting spoilers at different comms and in various journals because, while I'm not exactly a fan of knowing things beforehand, I don't want to be one of those folks who yell at people for having the gall to talk about spoilers in their own journals. (really funny thing though: I was an absolute spoiler whore during Buffy. Had to know everything before I actually saw it)
Anyway, not five minutes ago: Sean: "Hey honey, did you hear [insert spoiler here]?" Me: I DIDN'T WANT TO KNOW!! *sigh* So anyway, here's a non-spoilery, just makes ya feel good video. |

I also want a set of these. http://www.kacperhamilton.com/Kacper_Ha I was actually kinda surprised by the results of the Random Quiz. For those that don't know, the oxford comma (or serial comma) is the comma used immediately before a conjunction just before the last item in a list of three or more. Ex: We need to buy milk, eggs and cheese. The ships listed are the different crabbing boats on The Deadliest Catch (I'm a Time Bandit fan myself. Love me some Capt. Jonathan). And only one person put the same celebrity I would choose. Bear Grylls, man. Not only does he win for the most mancore name ever, but he'd keep my happy ass alive. |

Man, the Random Journal button is addicting. It's like a brave new world just around the corner. I feel sorry for whoever ends up here randomly though.
We were watching Sister Act earlier, just because it was on. Last 15 minutes of the movie or whatever. Anyway, all of a sudden, Sean leaned closer to the TV. "Is that...is that Bobby?" Why didn't anyone tell me Jim Beaver was in that movie? I would have totally joked about it with him at the con. And now, to continue my apparent trend of being the feel-good journal of the week (someone actually emailed me to ask if I was out to kill the internet with squee, between the con pics and my Big Bang): |

I want to know what the hell was going through my head when I thought it would be a good idea to post my con pics only a couple days before my Big Bang. I only just got through clearing out my inbox and answering comments from the pictures, and now it's time to start answering fic feedback. Yeesh! And I'm usually terrible about answering comments (something I've been trying hard to fix, but when you get over 150 in one day, it's tough)
I AM glad with the kind of response my Big Bang got. I was SO nervous about posting it because, while I did research and had some stories to work off of, I've never working in a theater. And I knew some people reading would have. All I needed was one person going, "Umm, you do realize..." and I would have been so disappointed with myself. But no. In fact, the few folks who responded by saying they used to work in a theater had some of the best FB. So yay!! And I've never hit 4 pages of comments on a fic before. o_O |
