Seeing as I'm doing "prep" now, and feeling icky, I'll just wave and say "see you on the other side!"

I'll be on haitus until...well, I don't know :D Whenever I'm home and off meds.

Holy sheeeeeeeeet
38 million people watched Obama's speech last night. More than watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.

Please let that be a sign?

Question of the Day...
Just how stupid does John McCain think women voters (and voters in general) are??

The answer: Pretty Damned Stupid

If his choice of Sarah Palin for VP is an attempt to grab Hillary supporters, wow, has he shot wide of the mark.

Most of the Hillary supporters I know are staunch liberals, who won't be suddenly wooed by another set of XX chromosomes, especially when they're dressed in a candidate who has arguably less experience than ANY Senator in Congress, absolutely no foreign policy skills, is slightly right-wing of Bill O'Reilly, and oh, hey, did we mention? She's UNDER INVESTIGATION? What this woman knows about urban issues you could fit in a thimble - her previous job was as a mayor of a town of 8,000 people. (Oh - and that was a part-time job. Well, duh.)

Oh, hey, guess what - she's a creationist!

Look, I didn't support or vote for Hillary Clinton. But this woman doesn't merit being mentioned on the same page as her. Hell, let's make that same BOOK as Hillary.

If he really felt like going for a woman, I understand passing over Carly Fiorino, since her biggest reputation is screwing up companies with which she's associated. Meg Whitman (ex CEO of Ebay) could have pissed off the base since it's rumored she's pro-choice. But sheesh - pick Condi Rice. She wouldn't be my choice, but at least she's got the credentials.

Is Sarah Palin the person we really want, as the expression goes, "one breath from the presidency"?

Edited to add: Just last night, the McCain campaign said of Obama's speech: "Tonight, Americans witnessed a misleading speech that was so fundamentally at odds with the meager record of Barack Obama". Think they might wanna step back from that "meager record" talk now?

And hey - in a July interview, Palin was unsure as to what the Vice President does: "As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?" (source).

convention
Now THAT was an acceptance speech - and a rallying call, and a reclaimation of liberal patriotism, and a "we're gonna wipe the FLOOR" and dust off our shoulders and take back the country!

*saddles up unicorn*

OK, just an FYI
I'm not posting that much these days, and that will taper off even more, shortly, for a while, due to surgery.

HOWEVER. Maybe some of you have friended me recently, and may not be aware of a few things :)

I don't only post fandom stuff. I post life stuff, pet stuff, and MY stuff. And that includes my thoughts about politics - something which I've been involved in for 28 years now.

I am an unabashed, unrepetant, and unashamed political LIBERAL. I am and have been supporting Barack Obama. Were my health better this year, I'd have been actively out and working for his campaign.

I don't consider posting my thoughts, or quotes from others, like my previous post, to be insulting or offensive. We've all seen the trope of "my journal, my thoughts, my words." Yup, that's true. And I refused to think of my own thoughts and opinions as being verboten or ..WHATEVER.

I don't think that a woman speaking out on her opinions is rude, or that in order to be polite, we should only discuss "nice" things. This is the 21st century, not the 19th. It ain't gonna happen here, people.

If seeing my thoughts disturbs you (any of you) that much, I'm sorry, it's been pleasant having you here - but it's always defriending amnesty day here.

My skin's a bit thicker than that - so I'll probably not defriend you if we were mutual friends before. I'm stubborn that way ;)

In any case, after Sept 4, for at least a few weeks, I'm going to pre-emptively state that anything showing up then will be under the influence of drugs, may not be coherant, and might just be humorous ;) Your mileage may vary!

Me, like kids? What?
Michelle Obama did fabulous tonight

And then, her daughters came out. And saw their dad on the screen.

That's a family with love, and a good base to it.

It's nice to see such normality. The kids are too young to be fake, so what we see is their true feelings.
