the "everything you never wanted to know about me" and the "say what you please" posts, two in one.
TO DO:
  • find a decently priced flight to and from London Heathrow
  • book course and accommodation in Oxford
  • update bankbook
  • keep on emptying space in harddrive
    ... )

Everything you never wanted to know about me * and thus avoided asking. )

So I finally have an introduction post, figures. And so here comes the second part of this post – this will be sticky'd, that is, set to stay always on top, so it will be easy to access. And if you ever want to tell me something and can't be bothered to find my e-mail address or even send me an e-mail, or if you feel it's too random to post on a normal entry, you can comment here. I'll even screen your comment if you want me to. You can tell me that you've loved/hated a film that I've seen, or a book I've read. You can tell me that you've begun to watch a show, and what you think of it. You can provide me with fandom news or life news or anything else. You can ask me for favours – proofread your assignment, translate something to Spanish, help you find something online. I may turn you down, mind you, but it doesn't mean you can't try.

If you've friended me recently, you can tell me why. You can introduce yourself, tell me something that you just need to tell someone, et cetera et cetera. You can share recommendations or pictures (yours or someone else's) or quotes or links to things or whatever you want to share.

So there goes that.

This is the first time I've ever had to deal with a wireless connection that blocked filesharing sites, and let me tell you, I am not amused. Regardless, I find some comfort in private servers and Pushing Daisies – I'm finally catching up, and oh I love it more than ever, and it makes me crave pie – and SendSpace is not blocked, so I can try to get a Friends episode or two.

To sum things up, I moved into the student house on Saturday, and have no Wi-Fi anymore – other than the very unstable one at school. Which means I won't be flisting much, and you should link me to your picture posts and anything I'm not here to witness.

Cut for stuff and a very, very impressive amount of pictures. We're talking three figures here. )

I'm going to get some food now, I'm starving. P.S., does anyone know why my laptop won't recognise the DVD that's in its player? It used to work, but it's been there for over two weeks now and I can't either play it or eject it.

P.P.S., if I hear one more "something like that" or "and so on" after a sentence that is not BEGGING for it, I'm going to CRY. All this pressure, it's so hard to stand.

books did not care who was reading them or whether one read them or not.
I suspect Blackwell's may have won a special place in my heart. About Alan Bennett's 'The Uncommon Reader'. )

I can't believe it's Thursday already. I've whisked my past two afternoons away in doing nothing much at all, although you could say Tuesday was productive, if the amount of pictures taken is anything to go by. Reading is definitely sexy positive, just not something one should be doing when there are so many streets to walk on, I'm afraid. Still over a week left, though, and I've been feeling rather optimistic these past few days, lack of willingness to get up and thus punctuality notwithstanding. The weather is better and I got to wear this dress for a while yesterday – and then I went and changed because it got quite chilly. (And then I lost the middle button of my favourite jacket/shrug/pretty-thing-that-according-to-my-father-makes-me-look-eighty, but it's not too awful a loss. Hair goes over that spot anyway, and I do believe I have a spare at home).

A very selective selection of pictures from up to July 14th. Actually have hundreds more. )

And now I'll get on a bus, go home, charge the battery on my laptop, come back and try not to walk into any cafés and use it (or grab a book, sit down and read) before 6PM. Get off the bus on some stop before Magdalen Street as I've been meaning to do for days now.

I went to see Mamma Mia! last night, and it struck me as one of those rare films that are so bad they're good, and actually rely on that. Absolutely insane, I kept wondering what the hell they had been smoking, but oh, what an amazing experience. There are so many negative things I could point out, but in the end I enjoyed it so much that it's really not worth it. Such a fun film, it honestly looks like the entire cast was just playing around and it plastered a huge smile on my face. Would definitely watch it in the cinema again if I didn't have so many other things to spend my money on – and still might, to be perfectly honest. And also, just for the sake of honesty, I think my favourite part was Colin Firth, and I still think he's unattractive, but I have such affection for that character he keeps on playing.

There are also a couple of films opening this week that I want to see, so yeah. It's not like there's that much I want to do around here, and I really should stop walking into bookstores.

Anyhow, does anyone know if Maggie Gyllenhaal's going to be in the London premiere of The Dark Knight? I need to know this as it might be my only chance to see her in person and I'd hate to let that chance pass.

I don't know how I ever thought this wouldn't happen, but oh well, pictures have piled up, and I'm too tired to make much of an effort, so this is what you get for now – a selection of pictures from my little trip to London last Sunday with no explanations, and believe me, I wanted to ramble, I just don't feel like it anymore. So, key: 1) if you see a blonde girl who looks older than me, that's [info]annemaris, and she isn't; 2) this includes Hyde Park, the Natural History Museum, assorted streets in South Kensington, Piccadilly, Embankment, Victoria, random shots from the bus, and... there's probably something else. Just ask if you're curious. I'm really just too tired, I don't even know why. I did do a lot of walking on Sunday (and by "a lot" I mean "the only vehicle I touched all day besides the bus from and to Oxford was the elevator at Waterstone's"), but that should bring soreness, not exhaustion.

(And I tried to make a panorama, but it clearly didn't work.)

Pictures from Sunday. I quite love some of these. (Guess which if you're bored!) (Or see how many references to movies/TV shows you can spot!) )

Okay, I'm done. I'm going to leave my laptop at home now and come back and... do something. I don't know, maybe I'll go to Christ Church. Or like, walk north, get out of my comfort zone. I really am tired, guys.

P.S., I'm moving into a student house on Saturday. As I keep telling myself, one week in the haunted cupboard and one in a student house is better than two weeks in the haunted cupboard.
