Welcome to the Weird

Bush told his senior aides Tuesday that he "didn't want to see any stories" quoting unnamed administration officials in the media anymore, and that if he did, there would be consequences, said a senior administration official who asked that his name not be used.

— Philadelphia Inquirer, Oct 16, 2003
"I am in charge here," says Bush. To which his senior administration officials say, "Bite my ass."

I didn't expect the White House to rot from the inside out, but that's what we're watching.

Buy some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the show.

Also, I've gotten this link sent to me privately from four different sources, so I thought I would pass it along. It gives a fair amount of detail on the new electronic voting machines and argues that the machines are uncertified, and, as things stand, anyone attempting to perform the certification process would be charged with a felony.

In effect, this means that any election in which they were used is illegal and non-binding, as any voting equipment used has to be certified by a particular government office before it can be legally used.

In not-quite-official-enough investigations, certain agencies have uncovered chunks of code that could have been written better by Molly, the International House of Blasphemy's resident housecat. Plus enormous potential for hacking and tampering and various and sundry other chances for failure.

The Independent is known to be skewed a bit leftwards, so keep that in mind. If you can put up with Fox News and ClearChannel®, you should have no trouble.

The consistent line of governments in the USA, for as long as I can remember, has been that this country os a shining beacon of democracy for others to emulate.

Fuck, yeah.

Bush told his senior aides Tuesday that he "didn't want to see any stories" quoting unnamed administration officials....

Unnamed administration officials readily agreed not to show Bush any more stories.

If the first link is true, I hope Bush fires whoever leaked that.

Leaks suck.

Funny that Bush wants to stop the leaking now. When the use leaks leading up to the Iraq war did so much to promote the administration's view of the intelligence. A great majority of the most convincing claims about Iraq, which have now been proven to be false, appeared in the media attributed to the mysterious senior administration official.
