Meh, today's Nuke was LAME. (Well, the guys are still adorable.) Why did they bother with the Army plot at all? Maybe to make a statement about "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" which is ironic, of course, since DADT is apparently alive and well in the soap industry, despite it being full of gay people. Including actors who are playing gay anyway and who aren't ever going to be hunky leading man material (except to another man). Sigh.

Oh, I know the ending is kind of a downer but don't panic. I have a feeling everything will turn out okay. ;)

You are usually feeling: Unhappy. Unless it's rainy outside, and even then you know the foul weather won't last.
You are famous for: Being mean yet lovable. And you hate the lovable part.
How you life your life: As a slob. But it's not repelling as many people as you'd like!

Wow, I never thought I'd see a picture of Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann on the FOX News main page (under "Features and Faces"). That's just...wow.

The lack-of-kissing story was just covered by the Associated Press and now it's all over the internets (and in print editions too)!!
The Washington Post sez women are teh stoopid. I think it's about time I cancelled my subscription for good. We only get the Sunday paper as it is.

ETA: From the Onion. Karate lessons give child self-confidence to quite karate. "After months of being taught to develop courage, inner strength and other values of the martial arts, Daniel Finkelstein finally achieved the self-confidence necessary to stand up to his parents and quit taking karate lessons, the area sixth-grader reported Monday." HAHAHAHAHA. This has been our experience.
I need something to make me happy after reading these Nuke spoilers. ( I know... ) Fortunately I have these scans from CBS Soaps magazine. The magazine apparently writes RPS: "The guys had fun dressing up, goofing off and hanging out, and their off-camera friendship proves just as strong as their on-camera romance!" O RLY? Tell me more...
This Nuke fic made me happy, too.
There was more hawt boy-touching in yesterday's episode by the way. (It's up on YouTube now but I can't get the links from work.)
Watched Gossip Girl last night. I'm enjoying it more every week though I can't say I like any of the characters! At least Blair is not a heartless bitch.

Watched Smallville, enjoyed it a lot. ( Read more... )
Wednesday's Gossip Girl I enjoyed even more than the premiere. There was a bit of humor, mostly from Dan...I guess he's supposed to be the Seth Cohen character--pining for a girl out of his league. ( Read more... )
Desperate Housewives kind of annoyed me even though it had its funny moments. I don't know why, really, since all of my objections regarding last season's finale were at least sort of addressed. ( Read more... )
Brothers and Sisters entertained me more than DH. ( Read more... )

I don't know how many of you like electronica/dance music, but there's a free podcast on iTunes called PodRunner: nonstop, fixed-BPM, hour-long mixes from DJ Steve Boyett. I've downloaded a few so far and worked out to one last weekend and it was tons of fun. A 140 BPM mix seemed like a good rate for the eliptical trainer for me, but I might try a little higher today.
Oh, while I'm on the subject of music, this is probably a long shot, but does anyone have a copy of "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora?

I watched Reaper tonight. I have to say, I was impressed. I love the main character, Sam...he's like a cross between Jake Gyllenhaal and an Affleck. Very cute. And his best friend is a riot; yeah, I know he's got the Jack Black thing going for him, but that's okay, I like Jack Black. The show is so funny, and I'm happy they're already playing up the slash ( for example ) though I'm not sure I'd slash those two since I like to find both guys at least somewhat attractive. ;) It would be the perfect show if Jensen Ackles were playing the part of the sidekick. AHAHAHA.
Okay, back to your regularly scheduled Nuke, in preparation for tomorrow! Two fic recs for you:

Oh, I forgot to post about Gossip Girl, which I watched last night. I liked it, but I didn't think there was enough humor. The show needs a Seth Cohen. ;) The Dan character was amusing but he and his "dad" look more like brothers. ( Read more... )

Michael Cassidy is going to be on Smallville? OMG it's a dream come true! Between him, Justin Hartley, and Tom, my shirts will be covered in drool. Then Jensen's on at nine. It's too much hotness for one evening.
Sneak peek of tomorrow's Nuke. I think I'm in love with Luke. Srsly. But Noah's really being annoying and I'm wondering if Luke even feels anything for him anymore.

Erm, forget what's-his-face and Equus. I want to see Die Mommie Die. And apparently his character gets naked in the film version, so it could happen on stage. But it's okay, he'll be 26 and so it's not quite as pervy as his being 18. :P
Here he is being cute in an amusing student film involving losing his virginity (with a girl *roll eyes*) and a time machine. Ha.
And here he is being odd and funny as Henry Davis, a "white Chinese-American who doesn't speak Chinese," talking about being the only student in "Anime Studies" at NYU and the restraining order keeping him away from one of the Olsen twins. Hee. He's got a real Seth Cohen vibe going there.

GOP front-runner or Buffy villain? He's going to look so presidential up there next to Hillary, Obama, or Edwards, dontcha know.
Hey, don't forget to vote in the Tubeys at Television Without Pity. Voting goes a lot faster now that there are only 10 nominees per category. Make sure you at least vote for Sean and Christian for best Hoyay! moment. I voted for Jensen as my favorite actor and Logan and Veronica as worst couple. Ha. I think I voted for Sam and Dean for best relationship. And I made a point of always voting for Lana/KK in every "worst" category she was in, even though she didn't annoy me nearly as much this past year. But it's the principle of the thing. :P

More ATWT Nuke blather
|
Sep. 6th, 2007 @ 11:53 am

|
Van Hansis wrote in his blog that the As The World Turns Luke/Noah storyline has been well-received. I was a little worried because of the mouth-breathers threatening boycotts (they probably don't even watch the show). They'll stop with that tactic when they realize it's not working, and start up with the campaign to make the relationship/storyline seem wanting. That's what happened with Brokeback Mountain--when the wingers posted homophobic diatribes on Netflix, their reviews were deleted. Now there's review after review after review that sound suspiciously alike: the movie is good but the actors don't have chemistry, and anyway there's no indication that Jack and Ennis are in love; it's just lust. OK, whatever.
If you want to catch up on Luke/Noah, their entire storyline is up on YouTube. My god Van is adorable.
Best and Worst of ATWT, Aug. 2007 Word.
I'm unclear where this came from but it was quoted on TWOP:While other soap young’uns were rolling around in chocolate or betting big in Las Vegas, ATWT was sealing the complex Luke/Noah/Maddie triangle with a kiss. It’s hard to tell a love story when the characters air less that 20 mins a week, but ATWT pulled it off like Luke, Noah and Maddie's “invisible girl” podcasts. The show crafted a sensitive tale around Luke’s attraction to yet another straight guy, Noah’s burgeoning not-so-straightness, and the rebounding maddie’s utter cluelessness that she was even in a triangle. ATWT hit all the typical points of first love on TV: the electric brushing of hands, the shy peek at the hunk sans clothes, the totally hokey “oops, we fell into each other and sparks flew!” moment. That all the moments happened between two boys, without any PSAs or special fanfare, was really refreshing. And wonderfully normal.
So pals Luke and Maddie are both into the same person--it happens every day. Noah struggling to earn his father’s approval hardly makes him a bad guy. Over the course of the summer, his wooden “Hi, I’m straight, I swear!” façade crumbled. When he finally gave in and kissed Luke, it wasn’t so much a shock as a relief. With all that pressure on his shoulders, the kid was going to explode sooner or later, and it was well worth the wait. Noah and Luke’s lip-lock was everything a soap first kiss should be: tentative, hot, and followed by soul searching.
Young love shouldn’t be that hard, but ATWT reflected the issues millions of gay teens face, and provided an easy lesson for the rest of daytime: just lean in, close your eyes and do it. Word again. Can I tell you how proud I am of my show? (ATWT was always my favorite when I watched the CBS soaps.)
Major spoilers for next week's Nuke at TWOP. Funny how ( spoiler )
