Christmas is coming....

Well it appears that my body has finally given up for the year. All this travelling around at the weekends, work and busy social calender has meant a lack of sleep which has resulted in my current state. It seems there may be only two options... firstly to sleep for a week or so or secondly find some sort of recharge device...

I apologise to those in IK for last night, but I just could not summon up enough energy, plus Adam and I have had a chat and we feel a few more players are required to get the game fully functional again. A ratio of 1:1 DM's to players when 1 player cannot make it seems rather silly.... We may however run one more session to keep all those players interested or find a point when a special guest can make an appearance.

All I can say now really is bring on the holidays.... oh and anyone feel like robbing a bank for some quick cash? Xmas present time.....

It has been a while.....

Well it has been a while since i have posted!

Finally i have started getting to grips with unix and html after so much nagging from certain people... you know who you are! To be fair i did set a new years resolution to work on them back in 2004... I think... or maybe 2003.... anyway, so it is about time really!

Anyway all is well in my neck of the woods and I have some holiday coming up soon so I cannot complain. Off back to Kent for a week and then off to Gozo (Island near Malta) for two weeks in September with the family and Jane (practically family!).

One thing I must point you all to if you have not seen it is this great article on the bbc website today.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4713323.stm

It is amusing and all i can say is it seems prehistoric man still enjoyed some excitment behind closed doors.... maybe closed animal skins...

Simon

Well thanks to one and all for a good night last night. I am glad you enjoyed it Ross and thanks for the kind words to all of us. We shall have to do this again sometime, but maybe only one pint of old rosie.....

I took the dice test and got a d20! I was not convinced by some of the questions though.....

Anyway I got loads of shit to sort out before Desperate housewives comes on so catch you all soon!

Simon

Welcome to 2005.....

Well after a month off from writing my journal here I am again...welcome to 2005 everyone!

So far this year is going great. I have got up and cooked some bacon. Could life get much better!?!?!?

Seriously a quick update. Christmas was manic, but it was great to see the family again and I miss being at home! Jane and I are back together again which is strange but amazing. Words cannot describe my happiness! Work is going fine, although having a couple of weeks off has caused me to forget everything. Oh well I suppose i shall have to blag it!

Simon

Lunctime in the lab!

While some analysis is underway I am grabbing some lunch and thought it was about time I updated my journal. Had a great weekend as David came up to visit, although I started the week knackered. Was out last night and consequently only had 3 hours sleep so am really not doing well this week so far! I am busy every night this week which is becoming a regular occurance it seems, but I suppose better to be busy than bored! I miss sleep though.... I am off home this weekend to see the folks and go and see Jools Holland which should be good. If anything I am looking forward to a weekend where I do not have to clean or cook.

In what spare time i have I need to get cracking on my next comic script which could be a tricky one plot wise, but I hope something will come to me! I am still awaiting my PS2 so I suppose that shall not have an adverse effect on what time i have free which could be a bonus!

Simon

Good damn lectures..........

You know I thought doing a PhD would mean no more lectures, but how wrong was I! Sitting through lectures is as boring as ever, but still I do it and mostly dream about buying a PS2! I am so tempted but have so far managed to resist.....

On a more brighter note results are starting to come in from experiments and it looks like some stuff is working. Just call me the microwave king!

Simon

Another day, another dollar.....well sort of.

Well today is pretty boring, much like the last few. The beginning of the week was so busy with meetings and things in the evenings that today I have finally sat down and am exhausted. Work is going slow now though as waiting for some feedback on a vessel design for my experiments. Still have not got to blow anything up, but soon it shall happen......

In other news, flat is starting to look good, although still some tidying to do (Matt if you read this, buy a cheast of drawers!). My dad came to stay on tues night which was great and finally dragged him to the Old Trip. I think he was glad in the end although he made many rude comments about me buying him a pint. Something about moths and my wallet.....

This weekend proves to be another busy one too as I am helping a friend with his patio on sat morning and then Adam and Ross are coming to visit to watch movies and discuss this comic I am colaborating on. Is going to be good and we have some great ideas. I feel quite privalaged to have been invited to join the writing team as Ross and Adam have already put in a lot of the ground work and the ideas are fantastic. Is going to be exciting! Lets hope they like my scripts....

Anyway must go as have a luncheon date.... he he!

Simon the microwave king

A week later....

Well here I am again a week later in another library skills lecture. Help me!!! The last week has gone well, although I have had to read far too many journals. I am longing to do some experimental stuff which is unusual for me.

After I complained at my flat mate about missing Jane he is now determined to "get me back out there" which has felt very strange so far. All is not lost though as Jane is coming to visit at the beginning of November. God help my tortured soul eh!

Anyway back to the NBA schedule page. I need sky sports!

Simon

Boring library skills

I am stuck in yet another lecture about library facilities. Boring..... They did supply free tea and coffee though! We have been playing online minesweeper instead though so not all bad.

PhD is going well although have only been at it for a few days. At the moment it is getting in the way of my social life! Flat is great and scary being a home owner. You also get quite excited about buying furniture or going to homebase....how sad.

Anyway must get back to journal searching!

Simon

Getting over some evil bug.....

Well today I am finally feeling better after a couple of days of a high temperature and evil bug which I contracted from my cousin's twins who have been staying here for the last week. They are only 22 months so very cute, but everytime they visit they leave the family with an illness! It was my cousin in law's 40th birthday on saturday too and the party had a pirates and princesses them which was great fun, plus there was a hog roast! Does not get much finer than that!

The purchase of the flat in Nottingham with Matt is almost complete and touch wood we should have it by the end of the month, beginning of the next which is so exciting. Unfortunately we then have to buy furniture which could prove costly!

My gardening work is going well and off to the garden centre tomorrow to buy the first batch of plants which is good. Finally the weeding can end and the more exciting stuff can begin. Hopefully I am going to see spiderman 2 this week and really looking forward to it. If anyone is down south this summer and fancies meeting up give me a ring too as would love to see people.

Anyway must sign off now as Wakeing the Dead is about to start!

Simon

Well I am now back from holiday and have graduated and have signed my mortgage papers so things are starting to calm down a bit. I have started my gardening/odd jobs and was looking forward to a couple of months out in the sun......damn you bad weather! I shall be up and down to Notts over the summer sorting out my flat so if any of you guys are around it would be great to meet up, and the rest of the time I shall be in Kent so no excuse to not meet me for those of you who live down here! Hope everyone is well and see you all soon,

Simon

Thought for the day: "The world would be a better place without women and relationships"

Well I have just been out to Gravetye Manor for a rather swanky lunch. Was very good......

Have not been doing much this week but relaxing and spending time with Jane. Has been wonderful but not looking forward to starting some work again tomorrow! Damn Chemistry write up.....

I am looking forward to week in Dublin with Jane on monday week and then a great Easter with family and friends. Going to be busy I think!

Hope everyone is well and see you guys soon!

Simon

Well with only a week left in labs things have started to get hectic. People are shouting, computers have stopped working....soon things will get nasty i believe. Now where did i put the Cesium......

As some of you may know I am now the Social Sec for RPG Soc. Sad thing is I have already started thinking of things to do! I am determined to get people socialising, but I promise it will not be during the daylight so some of our gamers do not melt.

Bring on Easter is what i say!

Simon

Well it is taken a while but Jim has finally persuaded me to join live journal. Now I can join the madness that is journal entries!

Was in the lab all day today and only managed to blow up two things in the microwave!
