    Get used to this picture...
you'll most likely see it on an electronic billboard on university drive in the next month.

The Madison County School Board needs a conservative voice, without ties to the Teachers Union, that speaks solely for the parents in our community.
    You can put one there.

    WORST THING EVER
The absolute WORST THING to have happen to me in a long time happened to me on friday.
i was QUITE distraught, and finally by the end of about 20 phone calls i was resigned to the fact that there was absolutely nothing i could do to rectify the situation.

... it's hard to talk about... even now... a couple days later...
    but here it goes...
i got home... after work, after picking up zhane. and checked the computer.
i had received a phone call at about 10 o'clock that morning from a number i didn't recognize.
    they had left a voicemail.
    i listened to it.

*world comes crashing down around me*

it was john. with AIT. the people who are delivering my tv.
    NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
    !@#$@#$!@#%!#$^@$%&#*
if i had got that phone call I COULD HAVE HAD MY TV ON FRIDAY!!!

no... DONT EVEN TRY. NO amount of consoling can lift my broken heart at this point. i called him back... i tracked down their warehouse... i pleaded to pick up the tv myself on saturday... no dice... *sobs*
so the girl and i had to watch the season opener of House on NON big-screen goodness.

i'm trying to tell myself it's okay... i'm trying to tell myself that i'll just get the tv tomorrow... but nothing is helping... nothing is filling this hole in my chest...
oh the girl has tried her best to help console me... and i give her credit for helping me to get through this dark time of... 46 hours... but i just can't shake the feeling that the universe is laughing at me...

*whatever doesn't kill me... ... will be shown on a small screen until tomorrow...*

You ever get that creepy, back of the neck sensation that something is stalking you?
but you turn around... and no one's there?

Ever get the feeling that somewhere, someone, or something, is silently singing the theme to Jaws in their head while you are in their eyes?

and do you also have this cat for your pet?

    Finally...
    The time had come...
And so... last night... i did it...
    i ordered... a TV...
My old TV wasn't even actually MY tv really... someone had given us an old hand-me-down after THEIR upgrade to the world of modern technology. It was the same as my last tv, a 22" CRT. it just wasn't quite as DIM as my last tv, which i'd had pretty much since i could remember. probably 10 years, if not longer. and yeah, come feb 2009 it would be pretty much useless without a converter and even then wouldn't be good. we watch probably 2 hours of actual tv a week, but we do play WII and watch movies, so the time had come.

it took roughly 2 months of on and off research... contrast ratio's... size... technlogy's (lcd, dlp, plasma?), viewing angles, color reproduction, native screen resolution... screen reviews, uniformity, brightness, AUGH

finally i settled on THE ONE i wanted, and last night i actually ordered the thing from Newegg (who had come down 400.00 in price from a week ago and was enough to go, okay... now)

so in a week or so hopefully it'll be here and me and the boy can play cool games and me and the girl can snuggle up and watch the new season of House in comfort and without eye strain :)

    Samsung LN46A550

    Screen Size 45.9" (1)
    Resolution 1920 x 1080
    Dynamic Contrast Ratio 30,000:1
    Viewing Angle 178º x 178º
    Response Time 5 ms
    Native Resolution 1080p

Mario is going to be freakin huge.

This Blog is now endorsed by the proud people at Eureka Brand Vacuum cleaners.
As a daddy who cleans up after a now EIGHT year old, as well as a guy who attempts to keep the house somewhat presentable house so that my cute girlfriend still wants to stop by, i do all of the vacuuming. for a while i've been under the impression that we were in serious need of a new vacuum cleaner. that impression was cemented when the old vacuum cleaner gave off the distinct smell of BURNING when it was being used. it was a good vacuum, but past it's prime.

So yesterday the boy and i went down to walmart (after doing some research with the girl over the weekend) and picked up this baby:

The Eureka Limelight Green Capture 8803AVZ - 130.00

ah yes... finally my vacuuming has come into the 21st century.

so this evening i did the typical test people do when they get a new vacuum cleaner, i vacuumed an area of the rug QUITE thoroughly with the old vacuum cleaner. i went over a couple areas at least three times with the old one:
    Test Area 1

Notice source of dirt in the left side of the picture.

    Test Area 2

    (look, the simpsons is on!)

After going over those areas several times with the old, i packed it up and busted out the new one.
now... i EXPECTED to see SOME left over dirt and dust in the collection cup of the new vacuum. but i was actually a bit shocked to see just how MUCH...

After going over those area's once with new vacuum, test area 1 on the left, test area 2 on the right:

The results combined, with a cd thrown in for perspective:

um... jeeeeeeeez. that wasn't even the whole FLOOR.

so, that's my product placement post for this month, maybe eureka will see it and it will turn into a PAID product placement post... in the meantime, i have more vacuuming to do...

Mommy, where did i come from?
quick convo today at my parents house as we're picking up zhane.

dad to mom "hey, do you have that netzero cd? do you know where it is?"
mom "no, dont know where you put it"
valis *knowing where this is going, i'm here so he's going to want me to do something computer related* "but dad, you'd need a modem for that and that computer doesn't have one."
dad "oh... do you have one lying around?"
valis "hrm... probably not... you'd have to buy one, and i'm not even sure they SELL them anymore, i can't think of anyone who goes off and buys dialup internet anymore. you'd need to get either DSL or Cable."
    dad "i have cable!"
valis/rubberella in unison* "no no, cable INTERNET."
dad "oh... well what about wireless?"
valis *......... ....... placing my head in my hands, wishing i had a desk so that i could do a true *headdesk* and attempting to stifle laughter* "honey... can you help me remember this so i can post it?"
mom "now now, dont joke about your dad on your website."

    ... sorry mom...

rubberella is reminding me that occasionally i fall short in the smarts category also... and she's again reminding me that she wont let me live down the whole "explosives in the good tupperware" thing...
well... at least i didn't try to get wireless internet on the tupperware...

dont even have to try anymore
Co-worker sandra is on the phone.
on the other end of the line, unbeknownst to us, darrell is asking her about her sinus problems and how she sleeps.
Bill and I dont hear that.
what we do here is sandra on the phone saying:

"Well i start out on my back but i usually end up on my stomach."

jesus... it's not even shooting fish in a barrel anymore... now the fish are all drinking cyanide coolaid and wrapping themselves up in paper before they fall asleep.

    quickie post
so for the last few weeks i've had some sort of icky upper respiratory thing and been coughing up all sorts of foul things and the first weeks nights were horrible.

it's slowly getting better... probably coinciding nicely with my tapering off of the old clove ciggy habit... kinda forcing my hand...

the girl is a hottie and a cutie and we desperately need some sort of vacation.

    i'm about to start campaigning.

i've fixed up my garage so that i can use it to bring my diabolical schemes to fruition.

and because i haven't posted about Sandra, my co-worker in a while:
Sandra and Valis outside on a smoke break
KL comes outside and yells over to us:
"Hey, have you guys seen Lamarr?"
Valis yells back: "Nope, sorry, haven't seen him."
    KL: "Okay"
Sandra yells out to KL: "Are you looking for him?"
Valis turns to Sandra: "What kind of dumbass question is THAT?"
    Sandra: "... oh... yeah..."
    KL: "What?"
    Sandra: "Nothing, NEVERMIND!"
