18th-Oct-2006 09:08 pm - Go Go Go Music Video
One of my new things in life is to live unreasonably - make the impossible possible... Things are way more fun that way ;) and its incredible what you can do when you r determined... Story of the week:

Two weeks ago we got a call from a friend telling us to get a music video up on this youtube.com contest... Video had to be shot Oct 8th and submitted by Oct 18th... no money, no director, no location and one week to shoot... Highly improbably to do and make look good right???

Fuck that ;) Things are more fun when they seem impossible.

I got on the phone with everyone I knew to try and find a director, but finding someone to shoot and edit a professional video in less than two weeks was very difficult.. On 10/5 we got director Javier Andrade on board and Mike Coyne (who art directed Search & Destroy) to art direct and let us shoot at his new Williamsburg loft space three days later on Sunday 10/8.

Sunday was very spontaneous.. We had played Galapagos in BK the night before, were pretty tired, a little hung over, and didn't have much of a game plan. But we had gotten a few people from the show to sign up to be in the video. We still weren't sure what was going to happen Sunday, but we knew that we needed a party and people making out. Fortunately we live in Williamsburg where people walking the street are hot and generally down to get wasted and make out with random people on any given Sunday if given the opportunity. Shortly after, we had lots of new friends and after some vodka and beer, a decadent bathroom orgy. What else can one ask for on a Sunday afternoon???

Thanks to many talented and/or hot, sexy friends - we pulled together a video that we are really proud of.. Its fun, its hot - we really feel like it shows what Valeze is about and on a personal note, i feel like its the story of my life ;) very weird....

enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8IFCoweRAM

14th-Sep-2006 01:18 pm - Drama
Loved this quote... Osho is the shit.

"This whole world is just like a drama, so don't take it too seriously. Seriousness will force you into trouble... Look backwards, look forwards, look to all dimensions at what you are, what your life is. It looks like a long dream, and everything that you take so seriously this moment becomes irrelevant the next moment. You may not even remember it. Remember your first love, how serious it was. Life depended on it. Now you don't remember it at all, it is forgotton. And whatever you are thinking that your life depends on today will eventually be forgotten.

If you are unhappy, you have taken something too seriously. Don't try to find a way to be happy. Just change your attitude. You cannot be happy with a serious mind. With a festive mind, you can be happy. Take this whole life as a myth, as a story. It is, and once you take it this way you will not be unhappy." -Osho

14th-Aug-2006 12:42 pm - Mini tour w/The Heavycoats and The Metrosexuals
Was an amazing weekend w/The Heavycoats and The Metrosexuals!!! We had such a great time - played fun shows, partied hard, and made some new friends. Had no idea what to expect when we set this little minitour up. We heard of the Heavycoats through Nic Hard (our producer) - who worked with them as well and pretty much all we knew of both bands was from the mp3's on myspace. You know how that goes... You never know what to expect and usually bands suck. It's very rare you are actually pleasantly surprised at a live show. There's always a big sigh of relief when you see a show and its actually good.

I'd been IMing with Chris from the Metros and nathan from the HCoats for months now about setting up shows, but none of us had actually met. It's weird when you become friends with someone online and feel like you know them pretty well, but you've never actually met. So the first night in Delaware we all got to meet for the first time. It was an odd venue in the middle of DE on a thursday, so the crowd was kind of mediochre and I think all three of our bands felt we had an off night. Even so, I was definitely impressed by both bands. and I got absolutely blitzed with The Heavycoats. got a little out of control towards the end of the night. apparently those boys got flashed by a car full of chicks on the way home. meanwhile i was causing a scene at the local wawa. good times... Stayed the night with Cousin Andrew of the Metro's and his roommate Susan who fed us cookies and coffee. Was fucking great!!!

Friday we drove to DC and on the way stopped to pee on the way in the hotel district of MD. We had been craving a swim all day and decided to try sneaking into the Hilton to use their pool. Me and Joe got in and then let the rest of the boys in. Tim decided it was a brilliant idea to backflip into 4 feet of pool and hit his head on the floor. An enormous egg exploded on his forehead in between his eyes. He looked like a dolphin. ;) hilarious

The DC Velvet Lounge was a fun show. I mean - the place is a damn dive and the sound guy was a total egomaniac dick, but it sounded good in there, we played a great show, and the crowd was pretty thick for a first show in DC. After the show we played cowboy face with our DC crew - crazy motherfuckers. ;) To explain cowboy face over the internet is difficult, but basically everyone takes turns taking a shot and afterwards has to put on their most deadpan John Wayne face. Sounds simple - but when someone makes a cowboy face challenge it can get ugly. Friday was ugly. The second shooter drank his shot out of his shoe. Which led to the third shooter drinking through his sock. Which led to the fourth shooter taking off his undies and drinking through them. As if it couldn't get any uglier, Joe, Alan, Tim and Miles wanted to beat the challenge... So they each gargled their shot, spit it back in the cup and then passed right. Gargled again, etc etc - four times around. Cowboy face= Not for the faint of heart.

Saturday we hit Ottobar in Baltimore (the Heavycoats hometown). Ottobar was definitely the best venue we played. Soundsystem was sick and the crowd seemed very into the show. Place just had a good vibe. We were all a little sad that the weekend was over. Was just such a good weekend. I am definitely in love with both of those bands. although, next time we tour i am going to have to dress the Metros. I mean - u gotta dress the part if your band is named The Metrosexuals! u know its true boys ;) your karate's a joke!

check out myspace.com/themetrosexuals and myspace.com/theheavycoats

and see them live. we're doing a residency in the fall and are gonna have them both come down. xoxoxoxoxo
