I just watched Obama's acceptance speech for the Democratic nomination. It was pretty epic. He touched on every single thing that the Republicans have slammed him for, and did so in a way that is still taking the high road. Pretty impressive. If you didnt catch it, you should. I was happy with this and it was my first attempt at writing for Ten II, which is a big deal for me so I felt like posting it separately for those Ten II fans who may not be into ficmixes. I always liked the idea of Ten II helping Rose understand and come to terms with Ten I's actions...

So the reason I have been so quiet lately is that Sunday, while my back was turned only for a moment, Cocoanut and her infinite glory dumped a cup of water... right onto my laptop keyboard. My $2000 Mac Book Pro. That I just paid off. In May.

Like a douche, I didn't think to turn it off immediately; I hurredly soaked up all the water I could with squares of TP; I thought I'd got what I could. About an hour later my keyboard went haywire. Weird keys typing when they weren't supposed to, others not at all... So I shut it off and let it sit for a few days to dry out. The wisdom of merlekitty and nekoboy said that maybe after a few days it would work again.

Here I am, typing on it right now. Good God I am a lucky bastard. It's only about 97% functional though.. occasionally the H key has hiccups, and my function command and the first five function keys don't quite work like they should. On a mac, your function keys can serve double duty. One function can be had by just pressing the key, and the other can be had by holding the function key when pressing the function. Right now mine only work for one mode and one only. Doh. But it appears all other keys are functional. Even the "h" key appears to be working ok, now that I've typed this whole thing. Weird.. lets just hope I can keep the water sprite at bay, now.. I think the keyboard is still a little posessed.

In a response to a recent McCain ad that compares Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears...( Probably the most respectable thing Paris Hilton has ever done. )

Edit: OK, so it was late and this probably sounds more bitchy than it really is meant to be. XD I'm nervous about what's going to happen to the character development thus far, but I imagine SM will write a compelling story none-the-less. I also wasn't at the panel *though porku's speakerphone conferencing was great!* and don't have a lot of contextual background.

I wandered onto evil-Bay on a whim and what do I find? Two new 2008 official Doctor Who posters. One compels me to own it, post haste, even though I really don't need anymore posters. I. can't. resist it. It's cute and its so goddamn nerdy and random I can't help myself. Nerdcore. I <3 amusing pictures.

If you're curious, the other one is here. It's shiny, but not very dynamic, composition wise. But hey, BBC, where's the love for the brown suit?!

Since I had so much fun creating my own LJ layout, I decided to enter the time_and_chips 2008 layout competition here.

It's getting back to my roots a little bit; I got into professional graphic design because piddling around in photoshop with my favorite pictures, feelings and anal retentive coding always put me in a happy place. Graphic design for the real world isn't quite the same, and I think I chose wisely. But it's been fun just tinkering around with nobody to please but myself and I've been happy with the results. I hope the members of T&C feel the same. :}

Aaaand.. I so should be doing something with more of a priority, but it's Sunday and 99% of me doesn't care (whoops). I think maybe if I spend the day making my ficmix cover and writing the next chapter in my fanfic I'll feel better to focus on more important things like Fanime and ComiProject. It's amazing, two months later and my burnout is still looming. It's like I can't really bring myself to do any serious business. That or I'm even more depressed than I'm aware and I'm plunging into escapism with reckless abandon. Probably both.

So I think I've done pretty well this week. Maybe I'm getting back into the swing of things? Dunno. But I'm feeling better, emotionally. The smoke is mostly clearish--I can see the beautiful blue sky and get much needed sun vitamins again. Weather has been nice and mild, too. Unfortunately the air being crap has taken it's toll; I'm still coughing and getting headaches. But this happy could also be hormones; It's the one thing that really sucks about being a chick (hello, emotional roller coaster!).
