It seems like there is just never enough time in a day. I just don't seem to have the time I once did, I have email list I don't get to post to as often as I would like, and journals (like this one) that go weeks between entries. For these reasons and others I am putting many of my eggs into one basket.
I am setting up a WordPress weblog, and also a phpbb (for my email lists). So hopefuly, I'll post more often, and if you have me on your friends page now, you can now see what I post by adding [info]parkertorrence, as my weblog is now syndicated.

Liberty and Freedom

October 19th, 2004 (11:53 pm)
current mood: LiveDog vs EvilGod
current song: Johnny Hollow

Back in 1975, shortly after getting out of boot-camp, it became quite clear to me that the true purpose of the U.S. Navy was not to promote the American way of life, but to ensure that Americans could buy and sell whatever they wanted, where ever they wanted, whenever they wanted. Once upon a time it was called 'Gun Ship Diplomacy' the current administration calls it 'Giving the people of Iraq Liberty' ...
From November 1975 to January 1977 George H.W. Bush served as Gerald Ford's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director.[1]
On July 16, 1979, Saddam Husayn became President of Iraq.[2]
During the 1980s Bin Laden acquired his weapons from the Americans, paid for with money from the Saudis. His men were trained by Pakistani and American officers.[3]
George H.W. Bush was Vice President of the U.S. (1981-1989).[1]
***
Live Dog~ "Wait a minute! You mean that daddy Bush was VP and we was training Bin Laden's men and giving him weapons?"
    Evil God~ "Yes."
***
George H.W. Bush was President of the U.S. (1989-1993).[1]
The George H.W. Bush administration's pro-Baghdad policy, spelled out in National Security Directive-26, adopted on October 2, 1989, was based on promoting U.S. trade with Iraq?[4]
In a July 21, 1992 House floor speech by Rep. Henry Gonzalez (Mexican-American lawmaker from San Antonio, Texas) stated, "While the [Bush] policy did not permit the sale of bombs or something of that nature that would blow up, it clearly allowed the sale of the equipment needed to make them. The administration knew what Saddam Hussein was doing.... The head of Iraq's ambitious military industrialization efforts was Saddam's brother-in-law, ...Hussein Kamil, who directed the flow of over $2 billion in BNL commercial loans to various high-profile Iraqi weapons projects."[5]
In a July 27, 1992 House floor speech Gonzalez stated "The Bush administration, sent U.S. technology to the Iraqi military and to many Iraqi military factories, despite overwhelming evidence showing that Iraq intended to use the technology in its clandestine nuclear, chemical, biological, and long-range missile programs."[5]
***
Live Dog~ "Wow, WMDs ... you mean that daddy Bush gave the WMDs to Saddam Husayn in the first place?"
Evil God~ "Well he did make it possible for Saddam to create WMDs."
Live Dog~ "So where are the WMDs now?"
Evil God~ "You are jumping ahead of the story."
***
August 2, 1990 Iraq invaded Kuwait.  February 23, 1991 a US-led UN coalition began a ground assault that completely liberated Kuwait in four days.[6]
Gen. Hussein Kamel (a son-in-law of Saddam Hussein) the Iraqi weapons chief who defected from the regime in 1995 told U.N. inspectors that Iraq had destroyed its entire stockpile of chemical and biological weapons and banned missiles, as Iraq claims. [7]
***
    Live Dog~ "So no WMDs?"
    Evil God~ "None."
Live Dog~"So Why did Bush go to war with Iraq?"
Evil God~ "Why don't we ask the 1,109 dead Americans killed in Iraq so far? Hum- They don't seem to be saying much... Maybe we would have better luck with the 7,730 U.S. troops that have been wounded in action?"[8]

Bush White House 'Parental Advisory' notice

thoughtful

current mood: thoughtful

"F—- Saddam. We're taking him out.' Those were the words of President George W. Bush, who had poked his head into the office of National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice. It was March 2002, and Rice was meeting with three U.S. Senators, discussing how to deal with Iraq through the United Nations, or perhaps in a coalition with America's Middle East allies. Bush wasn't interested. He waved his hand dismissively, recalls a participant, and neatly summed up his Iraq policy in that short phrase. The Senators laughed uncomfortably; Rice flashed a knowing smile. The President left the room." [Time Magazine, 6/31/03]

CNN's Paul Begala: ' Yes. [President George W. Bush used] that one with me with an "m" in front of me, as well. And that's fine with me. I don't mind a president with a temper. I wish he had a little higher intellect, perhaps, a little better plan to get us out of the war in Iraq.' " [CNN, Crossfire, 1/1/04]

"Go f—k yourself." Vice President Dick Cheney to Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy on the Senate Floor Tuesday, as reported by CNN. [CNN, 6/24/04]

now time for the show: Dr. Bush

Why this Moderate Texan is voting Democrat in November.

July 30th, 2004 (02:32 pm)
hopeful

current mood: hopeful

the following is being re- posted with consent of the original author ...

I took a good look at both parties platforms. I have always voted on a candidate by candidate basis and have cast more republican votes than democrat in the past. I have never used that part of the ballot where you can vote a straight party ticket. No way could I do that because Midland, Texas is very republican and most of the time you have to pick between republicans as there are no other parties running.

I'm not a registered anything. I don't like labels actually and I don't want to be labeled in what I believe politically any more than I want some group dictating what I believe religiously. This time around I am going with the dems because the Texas Democrat Party platform speaks to me. I see in there things that used to be part of the Republican platform before W and the Christian Coalition took over the party. I see things in the Texas Republican Party platform [PDF] that scare the hell out of me.

I can't in good conscience just throw my vote away by voting for a third party when I feel that there needs to be change in my home state just as much as there needs to be change on the national level too. I want to send a message to the Republicans that they've gone too far to the right. Maybe the dems aren't the best choice for what I believe but it's better than having four more years of what we have now and just maybe the republican party will get the point and decide to change the party from within and I can feel better as a Texan and a US citizen.

I'm urging Texans to vote Democrat this year for these reasons. If you don't like how far to the right the Republican Party has gotten, send them a message and turn Texas blue this November.

Thanks for listening,
Wendy Torrence

Congresswoman Brown Speaks Out on the House Floor

July 19th, 2004 (09:13 am)
current song: airamericaradio.com

(Washington, DC) Congresswoman Corrine Brown made the following statement:

"Striking my words from the House floor is just one more example of the Republican Party's attempt to try and cover up what happened during the 2000 election and of their activities this year in the state of Florida in preparation for stealing this year’s election as well. What is the Republican Party so afraid of? Let me tell you what I'm afraid of: another stolen election and four more years of the Bush administration. When the words of Corrine Brown are stricken from the floor, so is the voice of her 600,000 constituents in Florida's third congressional district. (read more)

999 coalition deaths of that 879 were Americans [ w ]

* * * * *

I was thinking the other day about an episode of SNL that aired before the last election. In it Bush had won the election and the USA was at war. Behind him it showed the counrty in flames. Looking back at it and thinking of 9-11 I believe that there should be a law against psychics being comedy writers.

Strange things that cross my mind:
The quake that took place in California on 22 DEC 03 was at 35.706N 121.102W at 19:15:56 (UTC)
The quake that took place in Iran on 26 DEC 03 was at 29.00N 58.337E at 01:56:52 (UTC)
In short the quake in Iran was on a Longitude 179.439 degrees from the one in California, and took place 99 hours 19 minutes and 4 seconds apart.

Good thing I do not believe that the US Government has the ability to create earth quakes in other countries.

"December 22, 2003 - An earthquake measuring 6.5 struck central California on Monday, swaying high rise buildings from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
There was no immediate reports of damage but the epicenter was located 7 miles (11 km) from San Simeon, California, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

"December 26, 2003 - The U.S. Geological Survey's National Earthquake Information Center said its measuring equipment indicated Friday's quake had a magnitude of 6.7.
It said the epicenter of the "strong earthquake" appeared to be about 610 miles (980 km) southeast of Tehran.
