Music game!
To make it fair, I'm skipping tracks that weren't released as singles - album tracks, in other words. I'm also skipping obscure songs that I'm pretty sure VERY few people - if any - will recognize. In short, all of these songs have been on the radio at some point, by some artist - now when, or on what station, is up in the air. Also, I'm interpreting "first line" to mean "first sung line," so spoken word intro parts don't count. My taste in music is sort of insane, I pretty much listen to everything except gangsta rap, so I'm pretty sure everyone should be able to guess at least SOMETHING. In the case of songs that have been performed by more than one artist, just give me one of them and I'll count it. Also, I'm crossposting to Facebook, Myspace, and Livejournal, sorry if you see this more than once.

EDIT 7/15: It's been a day, I'm adding the second line to every song that hasn't been guessed yet.

Step 1: Put your music player on shuffle.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 50 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Strike through the songs when someone guesses both artist and track correctly.
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
Step 5: If you like the game, post your own.
Step 6: The ones you don't guess, I'll add a line later.

I don't update enough, I know, I know, whatever.

Work's going okay. I can't stand one of the other drivers there - he's completely obnoxious, self-centered, spoiled little rich boy and he gets off on calling me fat, ugly, whathaveyou, but in less than a month, he's going to college and then I don't have to put up with him anymore, so that's cool. As of July 21, I cost $7 an hour - now what's messed up about that? I make more per hour to drive now than I EVER did to run shift. Now that's funny.

I downloaded Jordin Sparks' CD the other day. It's not bad, but it's not something I'd buy. "No Air" is, in my opinion, the standout track of the CD. One of the bonus tracks, "Virginia Is For Lovers" (which she wrote) is probably going to end up one of my most overplayed mp3s - it's really good.

I also downloaded Audio Day Dream by Blake Lewis. It's GREAT. Like, I'm thinking I'm probably not gonna find it in stores now that he's been dropped by his record label, but if I do, I will buy this thing. I can't pinpoint one particular standout because it's a solid CD from beginning to end. If the record label would have promoted it better, it could have been huge.

We rented Jumper and The Day After Tomorrow from Blockbuster. I thought both movies were good, I liked Jumper more, but I'm into fantasy movies/books/whatever, so I WOULD like Jumper more. I found The Day After Tomorrow to be good, but unrealistic with wooden acting at points. But Jake Gylenhaal is one fine specimen of man, so that pretty much makes up for everything :D!

I kinda sorta pretty much like the new Miley Cyrus song. GOD SOMEBODY JUST SHOOT ME NOW CHRIST I'M 22 WHY DO I LIKE THIS SONG?

My son has started saying "I love you too" when you tell him you love him. He still doesn't say a whole lot, though. But he'll learn. He's learned how to scream. Aleve has become a permanent staple in my household.

I'm gonna go finish getting ready for work now.

Writer's Block: Entering the Game

Are you the kind of person who prefers to enter a game with strategies and codes, or do you like to go into it without any help?

I like to start off without any help, but I usually wind up getting stuck and finding myself looking up strategy guides on the internet :(

(I'm sorry all I've been doing is Writer's Block lately. Real life is monotonous at the moment and not worth blogging about. ssdd.)

"Your face!" works pretty well and is pretty ideal in most situations. Followed by "Your mom!"

The problem with "your mom" however is when siblings use it on each other - however that can be amusing to watch. Of course, I'm an only child so I don't have this problem :D

Writer's Block: LJ Comments

Are you more of a comment-receiver or a comment-maker on LiveJournal? Why?

Well, considering my profile says I've posted somewhere around 6000 comments and only received somewhere around 1600, I'm going to say I'm more of a comment-maker. Apparently I talk more than my friends, and that would be the reason why :D

I read this on my phone at work, I could barely even get through it. I got physically tense and nervous just reading about it.

Rape a way of life for most Darfur women

someone once said something like "the only thing needed for bad things to happen is for good people to let them" or something like that. true? yes.

edit: I've posted this before, but I think based on the content of this post, it warrants being posted again:

A lot has been said about how to prevent rape.
Women should learn
self-defense. Women should lock themselves in their houses after dark.
Women shouldn't have long hair and women shouldn't wear short skirts.
Women shouldn't leave drinks unattended. Fuck, they shouldn't dare to
get drunk at all.

Instead of that bullshit, how about:

If a woman is drunk, don't rape her.
If a woman is walking alone at night, don't rape her.
If a women is drugged and unconscious, don't rape her.
If a woman is wearing a short skirt, don't rape her.
If a woman is jogging in a park at 5 a.m., don't rape her.
If a woman looks like your ex-girlfriend you're still hung up on, don't rape her.
If a woman is asleep in her bed, don't rape her.
If a woman is asleep in your bed, don't rape her.
If a woman is doing her laundry, don't rape her.
If a woman is in a coma, don't rape her.
If a woman changes her mind in the middle of or about a particular activity, don't rape her.
If a woman has repeatedly refused a certain activity, don't rape her.

If a woman is not yet a woman, but a child, don't rape her.
If your girlfriend or wife is not in the mood, don't rape her.
If your step-daughter is watching TV, don't rape her.
If you break into a house and find a woman there, don't rape her.
If your friend thinks it's okay to rape someone, tell him it's not, and that he's not your friend.

If your "friend" tells you he raped someone, report him to the police.
If your frat-brother or another guy at the party tells you there's an
unconscious woman upstairs and it's your turn, don't rape her, call the
police and report him as a rapist.

Tell your sons, god-sons, nephews, grandsons, and sons of friends it's not okay to rape someone.

Don't just tell your women friends how to be safe and avoid rape.
Don't imply that she could have avoided it if she'd only done/not done x.
Don't imply that it's in any way her fault.
Don't let silence imply agreement when someone tells you he "got some" with the drunk girl.
Don't perpetuate a culture that tells you that you have no control over
or responsibility for your actions. You can, too, help yourself.

If you agree, repost it. It IS that important.

I should definitely update more often.

On Sunday, we all (me, Robert and the kids) went to the Wichita Art Museum. The art itself was cool, but the employees there were so holier-than-thou that it made me never want to go back. Five minutes into it we were approached by security guards and told we were too close to the paintings. I'm sure it was probably me, even with my glasses on I can't see worth a damn and I know I was leaning in to read the stories behind the paintings that were displayed right by them. There wasn't a rope or anything so I figured it was okay...apparently not. I pretty much lost interest after that because I like to know the stories behind paintings, makes them more interesting to me, and without leaning in I couldn't read them. I know I need new glasses but we just can't afford them at the moment. It wasn't just the security guards either, it was literally every employee we had contact with...they all just treated us with such an "I'm-better-than-you" attitude, it was disgusting. And untrue. The truth is, nobody's better than anybody.

Yesterday I worked all day. Shay, the new girl, came up and hung out all day and she is PSYCHO. I swear. She showed me and Cindy where she broke two of her toes because she got pissed off at her husband while she was drunk and attempted to pick up their glass coffee table and throw it at him. And she's all "Usually I can pick that thing up no problem" and I'm like "Wait, usually? As in, you do this on a regular basis?" PSYCHO. She was all calling her husband every name in the book, yelling at him, cussing at him all day, and I'm sitting there going "Damn, I don't ever want to be on your bad side." She reminds me a LOT of Sabrina from high school, and that's not a good thing, not even a little bit. I pretty much don't like her, and I'm sort of scared of her, but I'm sure as hell not gonna tell her that.

It's getting to the point where I'm pretty happy I open with Cindy most days because she's just about the only person there I can really stand. It's just not a fun place to be. William's pissing me off too - he knows I'm looking for a new job but he keeps throwing in snide comments like "You know you'll never leave this place" and "You'll never find a different job" and "I don't think you'll ever quit" and the like. RARR.

But today, I am not going to worry about any of my issues with anything cause I have all three kids today and I'm just gonna have fun with them :D

Some days I question what in the world I was thinking when I had a baby...
Someone figure this one out for me, because I'm stumped. I notice Justin is chewing on something, so I go dig it out of his mouth to see what it is - he lets me cause he thinks it's funny. It's a freaking baby tooth. Panicking, I make him open his mouth up so I can see which baby tooth of his he has lost at 18 freaking months old.

...He hasn't. Every tooth he's supposed to have - and I check nightly to see if he's sprouted any more - is still in there.

Charles hasn't lost any teeth in a while and Christian still has yet to lose his first, so I don't think it can be that he picked up one that one of his brothers had lost and stuck it in his mouth.

The only thing I can come up with is that it's one Charles lost a while ago that somehow managed to make its way to the living room floor. Because Justin isn't missing any, I checked twice.

Justin's been being emo since last night. He's seriously crying over EVERYTHING. All that's missing is eyeliner.

I have nothing else to talk about it.
