I am returned from a hen EXTRAVAGANZA. Four of your best friends tailor-making a weekend to their idea of what you like? I highly recommend. Gosh, that was a lot of fun. ( Itinerary (ETA: illustrated!) )Absolutely knackered today, of course, but that's not unusual for a Monday. And I'm buoyed by the rich happiness of spending lots of time with loads of awesome, like-minded, rather beautiful women. Even the dull stabby ache in my arm (due to a pre-honeymoon injection) doesn't dent my spirits today! I'd like to write. It will have to be in concentrated bursts, though, as the next few days look like: Tonight: fawn over Jolie and McAvoy (aka, see Wanted with thewhitespider) Tuesday: clear my office Wednesday: attend We Are Scientists @ the Leadmill Thursday: ACQUIRE A NEPHEW! Also go for Wedding Makeup Rehersal (ohgodwhathaveIbecome?) Friday: attend last burlesque class of the summer *sniff* Saturday: attend day-party with thewhitespider, then go out with work people for a celebration of our project finishing. Shout "ONE WEEK" at people a lot. Sunday: attend burlesque social Monday: realise that this is suddenly, all at once, the week in which we're getting married. MARRIED. AAAHHHHHHH. :D Tags: life of cal

NOM NOM Just placed an order for about £200's worth of PUDDINGS, from a local source in Sheffield that makes damn good cake. I have cake joy! This photo is nearly a year old, but it is relevant because a) it features two splendid examples of the Pudding Ladies' work b) cake joy! I am very keyed up about the wedding now. It feels like an exciting and heartfelt ritual held amongst gorgeous people within a cheerful atmosphere full of delicious indulgences. What's not to like? The exams, for those interested, were not horrible. Amusingly the intense revision process did kick off a previously-unexplored reaction centre within my brain, in which it is apparently very important that I scrawl long and plotty John/Rodney epics on the back of biochemistry notes, extensively featuring a) misunderstanding due to being comically uncommunicative b) sex that really isn't that great c) conversations which might have succeeded in sorting out the misunderstanding interrupted by explosions Apparently it was what my brain needed at the time. Who knew?

Three things I learned from julad 1. back up. No really, now. 2. if, on that sweet deep dreamy level, you *get* the appeal of an apple mac, you're enough of an apple person to justify getting one. 3. choose your priority, and sacrifice the rest on the altar of that priority.Exactly six weeks today, my exams will be over. <-- the priority Exactly twelve weeks today, my job contract comes to an end. <-- for extra tiredz Between those events - in 79 days, in fact - I marry the author of spiderfood (well, who wouldn't?). <-- has to be taken off the back-burner some time soon In short: if I disappear completely for a while, that's where I've gone. :) Tags: food, life of cal
