Inuyasha
I suppose it's been over a month since my last work related post. So, I guess I'll do yet another catch-up post...

Things have been busy as ever since I left my full-time position at VIZ. This month we're recording Inuyasha Movie 3. In fact, the recording is happening this week. As for the casting of the movie, we chose Dale Wilson to play Inuyasha's father. (The only time I've worked with Dale was in Jin-Roh when he played one of Capital Police's elders. You might recognize his voice from the Vancouver episodes of DragonBall Z as the voice of the Narrator.) Michael Dobson is playing Saya, Sounga is being played by Ward Perry and the role of Takemaru is being played by Jonathan Holmes who I haven't worked with before. (And I don't want to hear any jokes about his name...)

In terms of the TV episodes, I'm glad to see the new episodes started up again on Adult Swim. And I also see that they've put them back on weekdays. So they'll probably burn through months of work in a matter of weeks again. The last I checked CN only has rights to episode 104. Although I have heard that they'll be showing them up through the Band of Seven episodes. Who knows, since I don't go into the office anymore, I don't get a lot of details anymore. I just work on the episodes these days...

As you can see by the subject line (that is, if you've watched the original Japanese episodes of Inuyasha) I've reached episode 128 in my mixes. They opening and ending songs have changed again and I have to say, Inuyasha has a lot of high profile groups doing the OP/ED credits. It's hard to believe I'm already 3/4 of the way through this series. Recent castings include the voice of the Infant. This new incarnation of Naraku is being played by Chiarra Zanni (she played Yura way back in the beginning of the series as well as Hamtaro). The role of Sota and Eri had to be recast as Saffron Henderson moved to LA. Rebecca Schiocet has cast as the replacement. (Rebecca played Soten and Enju previously) I like Rebecca's voice, but I miss Saffron playing the role.

Coming up next month is the recording of episode 130-134. There's a great moment between Miroku and Sango in 132 that I'm looking forward to. Also, the double episode titled "The Woman Who Loved Sesshomaru" makes up episode 133-134. I still have to cast the role of Sara. But this show is such a long series and has had so many guest roles, it's hard to find an experienced actor that I haven't already brought in previously. Oh well, I guess I have a month to think about it.

Well, don't push yourself too hard, since it's not like the original series didn't re-use guest actors *cough*Movie 4*cough*.

Great news about the third movie, though! Hopefully you guys'll have fun with that one in all its fanservice-y goodness. ... One has to wonder, though, how Inuyasha always gets stuck cleaning up his dad's messes. Ryukotsusei, Menomaru, the Panther Demons, Takemaru/Sounga.... was the guy inept or something? "Hahaha, I may not be able to kill anything off for good, but I can make swords out of my teeth!"

WAHOO! I can't wait for movie 3! I certainly hope it's more entertaining than the second one...boy, was that a chore to sit through.

Quick question...was the Inuyasha PS2 game's voiceover directed by the same person? I'm fairly knowledegable about how mechanical and uninvolving videogame voiceover can be...but LORDY, the performances in the game were far under par in comparison to the TV episodes! ESPECIALLY Monica Stori, who sounded like she was either not being told what emotional state to perform with or was really drowsy.

Anyways, I'm really enjoying Inuyasha's dub so very much. I really disliked the series at first, probably because in the transition to anime, the series lost the dark, mermaid saga-esque atmosphere of the manga. Of course, that could just be in my mind or something.

Yeah, keep up the good work!

Movie 3 is has a lot of action that was missing from the first two movies. I like it a lot. Although I wish I could have got Chris Judge to play Inuyasha's father. (Actor who plays Teal'C on Stargate SG-1, but it didn't work out...)

As for the PS2 Game...far be it for me to comment on another company's product (Bandai) and even even though I helped out where I could with some of the translations...but let's just say it might have been different had I been more involved...just "might" mind you...far be it for me to say anything bad...

^_^ wow, I know some of the voice overs that you're casting! o.o and Saffron had to go? T__T she was one of my favorite artists since Dragon Ball Z. Funny, I hear rumors a long time ago that they weren't going to dub anymore episodes after a certain season... >.> I heard it from a friend, but he must have been misinformed. As well as voice overs go... ^^; I wish I could do that stuff... However, there was a contest going on too, in some anime magazine, where the winner does a guest voice on the show... it must have passed already...
And I would have never guessed Mrs. Zanni did Yura! >_< oh geeze, I must be losing my touch. *sighs* Well, I wish you better luck on finding more people... ^^; You're always doing an excellent job finding them.

"I don't know any 'Jonathan' jokes."

Sorry. Couldn't resist misquoting a certain reference - points if you get it (which I'm sure you will)! ^_~

Cartoon Network does now have the rights to air the entire series.

Is Chiarra going to stay on when Naraku's newest incarnation changes or will the role be recast? The character has been a favorite of mine since I first saw him in the manga.

Shame about having to recast Saffron Henderson's roles.

You're really flying through 'em! The weird thing is that Monday's episode on Cartoon Network was the first episode I watched when I lived in Japan two and a half years ago. It's really bringing back a lot of memories seeing these particular episodes again. I wish the manga could keep up with your pace.

Sorry to hear about Saffron Henderson too. I wondered why she didn't return as Kentaro in Maison Ikkoku, but I guess it was because of her imminent relocation. I always thought she was great in the Galaxy Express 999 movies.

By the way, I didn't see your name on IY Movie 2. I thought it was odd since I knew you were involved. Oh, and everyone on the site's wondering who played Ayame. They all seem to like her quite a bit.

I was on paternity leave during most of the production for Movie 2. I was hoping I'd at least get credit for the groundwork I laid, but I guess they felt that I didn't deserve it. (Me bitter? Heavens no...)

As for Ayame, she was played by Natalie Walters. She was new but I think she worked out all right. It's good to hear people liked her.
