Farewell, grandma... [31 Aug 2008|10:17am]
[ mood | sad ]
[ music | Radiohead - 15 step ]

My grandma on my mom's side died of a heart attack this Wednesday. I'm sad but it was quick and she did not suffer. She lived a full life, so it is the best to be expected. I'm expected to speak at her funeral. The priest wants someone to read out of the New Testament. I haven't done bible reading since I was a child, so I barely know what to say. I'd rather speak out of my own words but knowing my grandma, she would get a huge kick out of me reading New Testament. So for her, what the hell.

I'm currently in San Francisco enjoying my Labor Day weekend with Wingedcheetah. The funeral takes place when I return. Boo.

Currently reading: Empire of Ivory by Naomi Novik

Stole this from wingedcheetah. Haven't updated in a while, figured this was a good way to bring peeps up to speed!

1. First Name: Tom

2. Age: 32

3. Location: San Bernardino, California

4. Occupation: QA tester at EA, wannabe writer

5. Significant other?: Wingedcheetah, sunshine and happy here

6. Kids: Nope.

7. Brothers/Sisters: One younger sister by a year

8. Pets: None of my own but currently watching over 2 shih tzus and a silky terrier.

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:

1.) Wingedcheetah at the top. Throws my life all topsy turvy lol
2.) Comic-con next week. Planning a big brouhaha for it.
3.) New project at work which came at an opportune time.

10) What did you go to school for?: At first I wanted to be a doctor. So I started on biology, then chemistry. Then I changed to English since I then decided I wanted to write. But at the last minute, changed to Art, then Graphic Design which is what I graduated with. A Gemini can't focus on squat if my life depended on it.

11) Parents?: Yeah, they're still around and kicking. Like a couple of twenty-somethings, they don't stay still and love to travel to places, for instance Cabo San Lucas next week. They've been married forever, so whatever they do, it works!

12) Who are some of your closest friends?: Wingedcheetah, my heart and joy. Ph0oka, who has been around since I can remember. Zianne, who had been my recent travel companion when I was off in Australia. Andi & Vic, my friends who have moved to Austria. The crew from EA, who share the pains of our job lol Spaceman, Basathunder, Carter, old friends who always pop in and out of my life when I least expect. And many many more.

WGA 2007 Strike [07 Nov 2007|01:31pm]
[ mood | geeky ]
[ music | Meatbee - Transformers Theme ]

For those who watch TV, here's a list of the affected shows (pulled from Wiki)

Late night comedy shows such as The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Last Call with Carson Daly, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report and Saturday Night Live have begun airing reruns immediately.

Mid-season shows, such as 24, Dirt and The Riches, began production after most other TV shows, so they have completed fewer episodes to date. As a result, there will be fewer episodes to air for each of these shows. There is also the possibility that 24 may not even air the episodes that are finished, due to the show's long-standing practice of airing non-stop full seasons. ABC will have to make a decision regarding whether to air Lost as a non-stop full season after the strike is resolved, or air the few episodes that are finished while putting the rest of the unfinished season on an indefinite hiatus.

For shows without full-season pickups such as Moonlight and Cane, production on the first batch of shows has been completed.

Production for Heroes: Origins has been postponed as a result of the strike.

Though seven scripts are in for ABC series Cashmere Mafia, the network has delayed the show's premiere date from the original late November premiere.

Scrubs may not be able to air a series finale as only 12 of its 18 order episodes have been written.

NBC is considering airing the original British version of The Office in place of the American version.

The strike does not affect reality shows such as American Idol, whose episodes are unscripted, or news programs, whose writers belong to a different guild. However, CBS News and CBS's locally owned and operated station news operations are currently subject to a different strike action by WGA which may be authorized November 15, as CBS News writers under WGA have been without a contract with the network since April 2005.

Soap operas such as All My Children, As the World Turns, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, One Life to Live, and The Young and the Restless have scripts written through January 2008. Guiding Light has an additional month of scripts, so it should air new episodes until February 2008.

I had to delete content out of my own livejournal and that soured the whole experience but I still see people on my friends' list posting and it gave me the strength not to delete this whole thing. So I'm back and I'll post my infrequent thoughts and findings to amuse you.

In the midst of the holidays [07 Dec 2006|10:12pm]

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In February I set [info]traidao's puppy on fire (-66 points). In July I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points). Last Friday I gave [info]noblefailure a kidney (1000 points). Last Tuesday I ruled Canada as a cruel and heartless dictator (-700 points). Last Thursday I signed my organ donor card (28 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-750 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

Sincerely,
tylicious

Damn, I'm a bastard. I donate a kidney and I'm still naughty. Sucks for Iraq and Canada!

Disneyland highlights [18 Sep 2006|11:11am]
[ mood | sore ]
[ music | Goldfrapp - Slippage ]

Pirates of the Caribbean. I went in thinking they did big changes to it, but they just added Davy Jones voice (and an image of him on a mist curtain) and Captain Jack Sparrow pops in all over the place. Otherwise, it's still the same classic ride. Not that I'm complaining!

Space Mountain. Looks more like something out of Battlestar Galactica while you wait in line. Definitely a smoother and faster ride. Screamed my brains out just for fun!

Tower of Terror. This was definitely a highlight for me. I consider this ride better than Magic Mountain's Freefall! You are in a haunted hotel themed to the Twilight Zone and you sit in this elevator that drops you like 10 stories and then picks you back up really fast and drops you again (I was carrying a bag of stuff at the time and it flew right out of hands and floated in the air lol). Meanwhile, the hotel actually opens up at the top and you get to see the view of all of Anaheim. I went in at night for this one and it was kickass.

The attendance was light on Sunday, so I managed to get on all of the rides and attractions with minimal waiting. Picked up a Mad Hatter hat for shits and giggles and at the end of the day, I grabbed a cheesecake out of the Blue Ribbin bakery on Main Street. One of the twins works at the Disneyland California resort hotel, so she got us in for free to both parks. Woo!
