sox lost

blah blah blah, the sox lost last night, blah.

I did go apple picking this weekend w/ my sisters, brother-in-law and nephew. Pictures to come sometime.

I went bear hunting with my roommate & brother but did not see a single track or sign. The mountains looked pretty nice though.

sox & the postseason

I really enjoy seeing the Sox make the postseason. I became a Sox fan in 1986 when I went to Fenway for the first time with my brothers & father. I remember watching the playoffs in 1986 with my family. I remember being excited in 89 and 90 when they made it back, only to be crushed by the A's. I remember 1995 & Mo Vaughn hitting some monster shots.

I also remember all the years that the Sox really were very disappointing and thinking "how can you expect to get anywhere with this?"

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I feel blessed, being able to see the Sox play (and win!) so many games in the postseason. When I take a step back and reflect, it is an incredible thing to witness.

I am now a member of the Lambda Iota Society since the frat is currently out of commission for a bit. A bunch of my house mates & I were inducted on Sunday. It was interesting. I signed my name in a book that contained signatures going back to 1836. I have the official songbook too.

A kidnapping drama involving a mechanical gorilla stolen from the eastern tip of Maine, some sleuthing via the Web site YouTube and a bizarre video confession ended over the weekend with the gorilla’s surfacing in a Swanton corn field.

obama & nuclear power?

Did I hear him say that he wanted to find a safe way of using nuke power?

I think anyone that supports nuclear power should have to have a barrel of waste in their basement.

Regardless, I'm voting for him come fall.

I just discovered that I am accidentally prepared to bring my laptop home tonight.

I'm on pager duty probably about once every 6 weeks. It requires me to bring my laptop home. Most of the time, I forget to bring my laptop bag to work. Not today!

Lots of odd dreams last night. The fact that it takes me 15 minutes to get to work (only because of traffic and stop lights) is very nice. I am more tired now though. Usually the half hour drive gives me a chance to wake up. Sounds like Wednesday might be a nice sunny day which means it would be a good day to ride my bike to work.

Yup, I'm moving. Signed the lease last night, paid my rent and told my old roommate that I'm moving out. Now to borrow a truck and slowly move in as the month goes on, change address, etc etc.

I came home

Camping was pretty good, except for the part where I was playing toss in the wet morning grass. I went back for one, slipped, and landed hard with one leg under me. I think I may have sprained my knee, I have no idea. Its not swollen but if I sit and then try to flex my knee, it hurts. I can put weight on it, it's just the act of flexing it, so maybe I just tore a tendon, who knows.

The rain had hit pretty hard earlier and everyone was leaving to go home since tomorrow was forcast to be the same all day.

I sort of wish I had stayed or something though. I found out pretty early in the drive home that both of my low-beams had burnt out somehow and only my high-beams worked. I ended up high-beaming everyone on the 60 mile drive home. Sorry people! Felt like a dick but wanted to be able to see the road.

Did lots of swimming today & did get to play some catch. It was a good Saturday, I just wish my knee didn't hurt so bad.

Eating in the Bronx

We wrapped up the install last night at 7pm and asked the lab manager where to go for dinner. She suggested The Pine. We took a wrong turn but finally found the place. We sat at the bar for a while with lots of italians who were not happy with the Yankee score.

We had this Penne Ragu dish that was excellent: meatballs, sausage & fillet mingon with pasta. The portions were ridiculous.

Good way to end the install. Now to head home and go camping. Apparently its going to rain all weekend too.

good morning New Rochelle

I woke up this morning at 6am b/c I kept having dreams about a former friend of mine. I think it was actually one long dream, I cannot remember. Anyway, I woke up and just could not go back to sleep & didn't really want to.

The area around the hotel is interesting. There is a big theatre adjacent to the hotel. There is also a billiards/bowling/arcade/mini-golf center. Ate at the BBW next door and went to bed, no excitement for me. Interesting that I was able to watch the Sox game at that sports bar.

Today is the second day here in New York. I'm actually staying in New Rochelle and driving in to the hospital in the Bronx for work every day. The install is going pretty well so far.

Took the train from New Rochelle to Grand Central last night. I had never seen either the Chrysler Building or Grand Central. It was pretty cool.

I called Amy today to see how she was. They had an earthquake this afternoon. She said she was okay and I was pretty amused to hear that she had been napping just before the quake. Glad she is doing well :)
