The time has come to pack up my things and head on out of trinityhelix.

As much as I'd like to still be part of all my communities, I just don't have the time to keep up with all the posts anymore. I haven't been active in fandom for a while now as well, so I've moved to another username that will focus only on my real life.

Be warned, though, that I won't be making fandom posts there. Perhaps an artpiece or two every now and then, but nothing fan-related. So if that's all right with you guys, (and you're actually interested in what's going on with my life right now), please hop on over to: labuenaventura

Wow, this is probably the longest hiatus I've ever had from LJ, and it was totally unintended and unplanned for. XD I've been in Tokyo for a little over a month now, and everything's going fairly well. I've made new friends, learned a lot of the language, and I've managed to turn my little apartment into a fairly decent place to live. Going to Yokohoma for the weekend, so that should be fun as well. :)

Right. Now that all that Real Life stuff is out of the way, we go to the truly important stuff: Fandom. XD

Before I left, my brother put his Supernatural episodes onto my portable HD and told me to watch them when I had free time. Since I didn't get the internet hooked up in my apartment until two fricking days ago, these basically served as my entertainment for the past month that I've been here. XDDD

And wow, what an awesome bit of entertainment it is. Like all genre shows, it's got a lot of interesting mythology, hot actors, and yes, a great sense of humor. I think that the snark is about as well-written as the dialogue in Firefly and Buffy, which is saying a lot. Anybody who has siblings will know what I mean. :D

And of course, there's also the shameless pandering to rabid slash fangirls the producers manage to stick into every other episode. I am SO not ashamed to be an advocate of Wincest because hell, the boys do everything but actually make out on screen. (The whole 'playful wrestling in bed' in Season 2's Episode 15 (which is incidentally the funniest episode I've seen on TV on ANY show in a long time) reduced me to a wibbling, giggling fangirl mess.) In any case, I got the internet just in time to download last Thursday's new episode, which was part one of a 2-part season finale. It broke my heart, my brain, and just... yes. Words fail me. There is embracing, sorrowful weeping, and as much angst as can possibly be wrenched from Dean Winchester.

Had my orientation at Chuo Daigaku today, and there were 30 exchange students from all over the world. It was quite an experience, and very exciting! :)

It did a lot to quell my initial nerves about being here, and I was further settled when the lovely Ai Ling came all the way to the nearest station to see me. I LOVE YOU AI LING!!

Tomorrow is my placement test (I suck at Nihongo so I think I`ll be starting at the lowest level, haha), and I`m just so happy to be here. This is the initial euphoria stage that they discussed at the orientation (during the lecture on Culture Shock and its stages). Haha. Next is irritability. Hopefully i`ll be in the euphoria stage for longer. XDDD

...I'll be in Tokyo! :D *excited*

Flight's at 2pm tomorrow, landing's four hours after that. God, I can't wait! :DDD

Good news: The UP Fine Arts Class of 2007 had its Thesis exhibit opening last night, and I was given the Award of Merit for my paper ("Utilizing Color as the Primary Vehicle for Storytelling in Visual Media"). The exhibit is in the V-mall Lobby (greenhills), and it'll run until March 31. Please feel free to drop by if you have the time!

Bad news: I went to the Japanese embassy and they haven't released my visa due to a discrepancy in my middle name in my birth certificate and passport (Ang as opposed to Angtenghim). I have to go back on Friday with more documents, and that's when I'll find out if I've gotten it.

If I don't get my visa, I'll be the only person in the entire history of the University of the Philippines exchange program to be fricking turned down.

I feel ill.

Not breaking Hiatus yet, but I just had to blog about this.

My Official Acceptance Letter for Chuo University (Tokyo, Japan) came via EMS this morning and the... well, /officialness/... of the whole thing finally set in. *rubs face* Even when my University said I'd gotten it a few months back, I still didn't really believe it. I kept expecting the admin lady to suddenly grin and elbow me in the ribs. "Just kidding." ^_^;;

Anyway, my packet basically has all the info/papers regarding the scholarship-- free tuition, free boarding, etc. Now I'm just waiting to see if my other scholarship (for a living allowance from another foundation) pushes through, and then I'm all set. If I don't get the other scholarship, I'll look for a job when I get there. Either way, it looks like I'm pretty set to go.

Unless I have trouble with my visa or other papers, I should be leaving on April 1 of this year. *shakes head* I'm still pinching myself to make sure it's real...

HIATUS.
Off to finish my thesis; will be back by mid-March if all goes well. :)

Took Ben to see the ZsaZsa Zaturnnah musical today, and it was awesome. (Thank you, God, for giving me such a lovely, tolerant, open-minded boy. :D)

I /still/ didn't get to see the main cast's Dodong (Arnold Reyes), but I'm not really complaining about getting Janvier Daily again. He really, really, looks like Takuma Sugawara (see my icon for comparison). :9

Anyway, the point of this post is not to squee about the musical again (however much I want to), but to share these pictures with the rest of my treasured f-list. Did some research when I got home, and really, Janvier Daily is several kinds of hot. *____*

I also scanned in the booklet pages with pictures, but a lot of them were only lyrics so I left those out. The songs are predominantly Filipino, but there are a few which are completely in English. (Zaturnnah's nemesis-- Queen Femina Suarstellar Baroux-- is a feminist fashionista alien, so all her songs are in English. XDDD)

I've been waiting for YouSendIt to finish uploading my ZsaZsa Zaturnnah musical CD rips, but it says that I still have four and a half hours to wait. T___T Can anyone recommend a decent file share service? It's only 66mb, but yousendit is totally busting my chops. ;____;

I don't know if I'll have the time to translate the non-English songs from the musicals (75% of them are in Filipino), so you might want to familiarize yourselves with the stories before downloading.

So. I've been a fan of the Filipino (superhero) comic Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah for a while now, but somehow I'd never found the time to actually catch one of its musicals. I did catch the movie that came out last December, though, and I thought it was a pretty decent rendition. When I heard that they were running the musicals yet again this month, I realized that I *had* to watch it. I went with Tet and Rae and much fun was had by all, and the cast was even kind enough to stay by the doors to pose for pictures and sign autographs. *squee* (Pictures behind the cut).

For the uninitiated, Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah is a local comic about a young gay man (Ada) who owns a beauty parlor in the province. He becomes the gorgeous (and busty) Super Heroine Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah when he swallows a magical stone (pink and phallical, no less XD), and saves the general populace from random evil stuff. His love interest is Dodong, a young provincial man who tends his family's store (and has a crush on Ada's female alter-ego, Zsa Zsa).

The comic itself is already hilarious, but the musical-- with the sights, sounds, and costumes-- just makes it even better. :D And of course, the ending is lovely and poignant because when Ada eventually loses the stone (as well as his power to change into a woman), Dodong loves him anyway.

The final kiss between Ada and Dodong wasn't shown in the comic or the movie, so you can imagine that I went /absolutely/ NUTS when they kissed in the musical. :3 And it helped that the part of Dodong was played by a young man who is a dead ringer for Takuma Sugawara wtf. *_______*

I have been eagerly anticipating this week's Smallville Episode for weeks now, solely for the fact that it features the beginnings of the Justice League: Clark, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Impulse (was supposed to be Flash but they got into legal crap so...), and Cyborg.

I was SO not disappointed. The action was riveting and the boys were (as usual) buffed up and shiny in their lovely costumes. What I did NOT expect, however, was all the slashy subtext between the Leaguers themselves. XD I mean, I'd seen hints of Clark/Impulse way back during his first appearance (season 4, episode 5), and then Clark/Green Arrow during the first half of the sixth season, but... wow.

I think it's actually possible to slash everybody with everybody here. It's like a regular prince of tennis episode where all the guys have more chemistry with each other than the women they profess to be in love with.

So goeth a conversation between Aquaman and Cyborg:

Aquaman: Dude, what took you so long?
Cyborg: *looks at roomfull of unconscious security guys* Nice... but please, put a shirt on.
Aquaman: I swim faster when I'm naked.
Cyborg: I bet you do.
Aquaman: You're lucky I still got my pants on.

The 'Tell Me What to Create' AnonyMeme!

The rules are simple. You comment with your username, and people can tell you what they want to see you write. Or draw, or vid, or icon, whatever. Despite the name, they don't have to do it anonymously, though of course they certainly can. You then go through the comments and if you see that person who you've always wanted to write a Green Arrow AU set in the Terror, where Ollie is a Scarlet Pimpernel-esque figure, smuggling people out of Paris, then you tell them that they should write it.

Artists/writers/vidders are under no obligation to actually create these things, of course. But those memes are always fun when they go 'round and, well, I don't know about you, but I have no shame left and am fully willing to call a spade a spade: TELL ME WHAT TO WRITE PAINT, PLEASE!

Also got a rush print AD job today, (which I am eternally grateful for), but again-- bye bye free time. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted, and I should get my ass in gear again, anyway.

Did this Tryptich for the living room a while back, but I've only recently gotten around to taking a photo of it. I'd go on about symbolism and the importance of both representational and non-representational (or modern) styles in the world of art, but I figure it's best to just paraphrase everyone's favourite crazy man:

I think that the thing with me and my hair is that I just can't be satisfied with it. Like, /ever/. I'll probably stop once I'm bald, and hell, this is close enough to that. ^_^;;

So, last year's hair recap was: black, blonde, red, then some weird mixture of orange (because of the bleached hair and the lightening of the red). In the middle of that, I also got my hair cut rather oddly (which there are no pictures up of, because they're terrible), and now I'm back to my natural black (with a smidgen of leftover red/orange from the fading dye job).

Of course, the question here is-- what have you done NOW, Trin? Well. I went back to black because no hairstylist would touch my predominantly dead hair lest it fall out, so... I had it all cut off. All of it.

( And now I think I look like a pre-pubescent boy. ^_^;; )

Got my Spring Fluff assignment today, and I spent a solid 5 seconds staring at it, unopened, in my inbox. (Yes, I am a dork about things like this.)

When I opened it, I was pleasantly surprised at the possibilities. Two of the five pairings were on my "Can't Write" list, so that narrowed my choices down some. Now I'm hovering between my two final pairing choices, because I can see merit in writing either.

Both pairings require quite a bit of research on my part, (always a good thing), though one would require a bit more than the other. Choices, choices.

I have to get net access at Seattle's Best through GlobeQuest's wifi just to get a decent signal (I'm assuming their lines weren't that affected by the earthquake), and it's twice as expensive than regular net cafes.

I have prince of tennis art on the way, I just haven't managed to upload them without timing out. BASTARDS.

That said, I will go drown myself in overpriced coffee now. >:(

Ben and his parents and I went to the city for lunch, and now I'm using the internet at one of the cafes. I don't think I've ever slept so much in such a short span of time... the weather is wonderful!

I also got to wear my new swimsuit top, but I didn't get it wet at all. I made it halfway down the beach before putting my blanket down on the sand and falling asleep. Ben, of course, has used the time to work out like crazy. Before I passed out, he was doing cartwheels and practicing his capoeira. :P

The good news is that I brought some work with me and actually managed to get stuff done in between falling asleep in random places. My thesis storyboards are now halfway done, and I finally finished my Tenipuri Fantasy Fest fic for Sionnan. (Holy crap, it was due half a year ago. 0______o) Also drew out some preliminary sketches for my illustrated literary project with pixxers, so that was good, too.

Can anyone tell me if this is Fujiwara in the reindeer hat? Because I will die if it is.

I'm spending Christmas with Ben and his family in the province, so I'm going to be off internet radar from the 24th to the 27th. :D They have a farm by the beach and I'm looking forward to the peace and quiet (though not the freezing cold water, lol).

I actually bought a bikini for the occassion, though judging by the weather I'm not sure I'll be able to use it. Ah, well.

Our flight's at 11:30 tomorrow, and we'll be leaving my house at 7am.

I decided to take today off, as Klaine slept over the night before to work on Red Threads commissions and projects. We managed to get a lot of work done between the two of us, hence the resulting unclenching of my entire body. *breathes marginal sigh of relief*

Read through my F-list a bit, drew a bit, and am now trying to finish various bits and pieces of fic. It's been so long since I wrote a story that I didn't need for my thesis or an RT project or whatever, and it's a strange and somewhat daunting experience. Heh.

I'm trying to decide if I want to post the Tezuka/Oishi art I drew, as it's a little different from what I usually draw. Lol. (The style is pretty much my regular fare, but dood. I drew TezuOishi wtf. XDDDD)

I'm loving my new layout, courtesy of LJ's lovely custom styles. Nothing makes me happier than popcorn, and as my favourite colors are red and black, this was a godsend. XD

Tomorrow is the big Lantern parade at the university, the very first time in six years that I don't have to join, lol. I'm going to enjoy just being a spectator for once...

And! And! The Oblation Run tomorrow at noon! (This is a decades-long University tradition where one of the most prominent fraternities in the school celebrate the end of the year by running through the halls of the College of Arts and Letters in the buff.) My mother watches every year (the saucy wench), and I've never been. In her absentia, I realize that I must (wo)manfully take her place. At least one Buenaventura has to be there to watch, after all. XD

It's basically a community music site where you can browse (and later on purchase) OPM, and also has a nifty calendar of all the popular upcoming music events in the country. It's still in Alpha stage so you can't actually buy the music yet, but if I understand correctly the purchasing should be in Ragnarok format. (Where you buy cards with credit and spend them as you like on the site.)

Whew! Okay, I have now officially sent every single letter out. :D

Hi, all! My mother just sent a laptop from Korea home with my dad, and I'm currently trying to set it up in English. It's a Fujitsu Lifebook A-series, and it's running on Windows XP Home (already installed when it arrived). I'm trying to figure out how to switch the OS language to English, as everything is in Korean and I can't understand the manual (or the dvd it came with, for that matter).

Do any of you know if I should download some sort of add-on from Microsoft or something? (I tried searching for an English language pack, but it's supposed to be built in and I think I'm totally misunderstanding how this whole thing works. ^_^;;)

I know I've got a lot of multi-lingual friends out there, so any help would be greatly appreciated. :) Thank you!

Finally had the time to catch tonight's last full show of Casino Royale with Ben, and I am SO SO glad that I did not wait to just buy the DVD.

My GOD.

I take back every bad thing I said about Daniel Craig taking up the Bond mantle. Brosnan may have suave sophistication down pat, but Craig is pure sex. I swear to God, by the end of the movie I wanted to lick the sweat off his chest. The man is Sex. On. Legs.

I don't actually know how much of the stuntwork he did himself, but the first sequence was absolutely marvelous. Not spoiling, but anyone who is a fan of the fine sport of Parkour (free running) will appreciate this. Hell, even if you don't know anything about parkour, you'll STILL appreciate it.

Anyway, I'm off to go wallow in my lust-addled imagination before going to bed. GAH.

Has anyone been trying to YM me the past few days? My version stopped working (it won't let me sign on), and it's driving me nuts. Also, I have been buried hip-deep in university stuff. Ugh.

I am thoroughly enjoying my few days of calm before the storm (uni started yesterday), and my better half has been plying me with squee-worthy bribes. Pixxers wrote this: http://pixxers.livejournal.com/490528.html And you should all go and read it because Chitose/Tachibana is hard to find, and well-written Chitose/Tachibana was probably non-existent til yesterday. To that effect, I told her I would match every fic she wrote with this pairing in it with one piece of fanart. (Tailored to any scene found in the fic, of course.) This is why Tachibana is wearing a Shitenhouji uniform, and Kamio is in Rokkaku red. Seriously. Go read the fic. XD

It's incredibly fun to work with, and though there are a lot of visible mistakes, I realized that this is actually a good thing. Not having an 'undo' or 'back' button is making me a lot smarter when picking out colors, lol.

God, I don't think I've ever despised any character as much as I do Tritter. Vogler was an ass, but at least he was an amusing ass. Tritter is just... guh. And his final conversation with Wilson? *incoherent smashing of keyboard* Why do I get the feeling that Wilson is in for it (on House's behalf) yet again?

I can't remember being this "omgomgwhat'sgoingtohappennextttttttttt??" about a show in ages. XD
