Can anything with Neil Patrick Harris be bad?

Acts 1 & 2 currently available...

(note: yeah, it starts slow... but it turns into an actual story line, I promise :)

I wonder if Bad Horse will give me an autograph...

Firefox question

Does FireFox have some kind of feature where I can open special windows that contain exactly one "tab" that is treated like its own first-class desktop application?

That is, I want to run gmail in one so it's treated as its own application and new browser tabs DO NOT open in that window. And I want to run one with Meebo in it so new browser tabs DO NOT open in that window; they're their own applications. (Further, cmd-Quiting the actual browser windows/tabs doesn't affect these separate applications).

As more and more applications move to web-based functionality this is going to be a greater need. Can FF do this?

AC dances... fabulous.

The laser crowned it all off... the half dozen Martin MACs and assorted other intelligent lighting, strobes, UV panels, and video visuals just kicked it up to the next level, as did the 50 foot tall ceilings and all trussing completely flown (no giant truss lifts to block the view).

Totally professional. Pure love. Props to Simba and the whole crew.

It was great seeing so many people at AC2008! Gary seems to have had a good time too. It's possible I'll be able to con him into visiting MFF next ;)

Actually this was my first major event since I got sick. I managed to spend some time out but overall I still pretty much felt like hell. Lots of naps helped. I wanted to get a bunch of footage shot for next year's videos but I never really worked up the energy to make it happen. :-P

Anyway, it was still a blast and it was great seeing so many friends again!

Also, our videos seemed to go over well! See previous entries for links to them.

And I owe a big thanks to [info]mrianti and [info]invncble for arriving with life-giving beverages and such ;)

*clipclops off to go start scheming on next year's videos*

Afterward, Kage chased the fursuiters through the audience!

PCB123... pure, distilled crap

So a year ago, I was working on VoidStar's sequencer board.

I was having trouble with PCB123 1.1 and posted here about it.

I got invited into the 2.0 beta program but I'd already sort of forced it to do what I wanted it to do, despite the constant parade of crashes and bugs.

Now a year later I'm on the (non beta) 2.0 which-- I can hardly believe it-- is actually worse.

I spend 99.9997% of my time undoing its mistakes, only to find that it conveniently forgot my fixes and reinstated all of its mistakes (like mis-wiring things where they shouldn't be, "being my friend" by making disastrously stupid "optimizing" decisions, etc).

They've apparently decided not to make the 1.1 libraries available in a converted format and instead offer a "convert at your own risk" utility.

Is there such a term as AbortionWare? How does this company even make money...???

Stan Winston, dead at 62

Wow. Stan Winston died of multiple myeloma.

If the name's not familiar, it should be... Stan is one of the most accomplished special effects people ever to grace Hollywood with his talent. From the Terminator to life size dinosaur robots for Jurassic Park, he has brought some of cinema's most memorable characters to life. His contribution to the industry has been incalculable.

I'll just prefer to believe he faked his own death with some fantastic make-up.

Colorado Fursuiters?

Are there any female fursuiters in Colorado? Northern Colorado?

(Well, I'm specifically looking for where the character is female, but for the purposes of voicing, it would be optimal if the actor were female as well).

Voting isn't your opportunity to make a bold personal statement.

Your job as a responsible voter is to help put the best (or if you're cynical, the least onerous) person in power. Period.

If you're spending your vote on unelectable darkhorses as a matter of personal pride, then you're wasting everyone's time and doing your country, your neighbors, and yourself an enormous disservice.

So many people mistakenly believe that having three or more parties will magically cure everything. It won't. Because as soon as another party becomes a viable path to power for politicians, all the same kind of scoundrels will migrate to that party too and you're back to square one.

So yes, they may all be bastards. Your job is to determine which electable one the least bastardly and work to put that one in power.
