Happy Fathers Day

  • Jun. 15th, 2008 at 7:11 AM
Marcus
I hope that all this applies to got to sleep in, and have good things happen to them on this wonderful Hallmark Holiday.

As for me, Princess woke us early,I'm still up, although they have both gone back to sleep. I've already been grocery shopping (Love it, Hannafords summers start at 6am, NO LINES!) and am working on the house. Will probably toss in a funny movie to keep me amused as I work on stuff.

In related news, as a result of the move, I have an overstock of Guiness in the fridge. Like a 12pk and a 6pk! And I am down to one Killian's!

In further related news, regarding the shopping trip, I have the fixings for a platter of Nacho's, however I neglected to buy a 9v battery! (Ok...those two are NOT related to each other!)

Oh yah...the weather also messed up my plans!

All of our stuff has been removed from the old place. The storeage is jam packed full, so there is still sorting and chucking to deal with, but the big push is over.

One grade for this term posted... B- in Individual taxation.which entitles me to continue on to Corporate taxation next week. Phew!

Now, just waiting on the final grades in International Accounting, which is my big worry, as it is a once a year course.  Assuming that I pass that, I am on track for graduation!

The nature of "Stuff"

  • Jun. 11th, 2008 at 6:00 PM
Quiz
The move has me wondering, do we really own "stuff" or after a certain number of years, does the "Stuff" own us?  Is it like Tradition, something we do, because it is what we always have done?  Do we hang on to it for year after year, afraid to throw it out because we have owned it for some period of time.

Why do we get attached to stuff?  Is it the memories of who held it before us, of times past.  Or perhaps the fear of tossing something of use.

This was going to be longer, but for some reason, I've lost my train of thought...

Here are the rules:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you 5 questions of a very personal nature.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them 5 questions.

  1. Does your family know you are poly and if so what do they think of it?

Local family, no, My birthmother in Florida, yes.  She is accepting of things, such as my being poly, pagan…I think she's just happy to know that I am back in her life.

2. Are you excited about the 4th edition D&D coming out?

Not really,  I am primarily a 1st/2nd edition player, and just got started with checking out 3rd.  I’m in no hurry to spend more $$$ to get 4th.

3. Do you have any creative talents/hobbies and if so what are they?

I enjoy creative cooking. I like to try out new recipes.  Other then that, my hobbies are mostly technical.  Ham radio, computers, and so on.

4. Any regrets?

Yes

5. Something you yet want to do in your life?

Finish my Masters.  (13 weeks, I hope)

Without a net

 Internet that is.

I have just been informed that our home internet is gone untill it is hooked up tomorrow at the new place.  As we use Vonage, that means our home phone is out until we are hooked up tomorrow.

I don't know why, I just can't get into this term at school.  I have no interest in International Accounting, and don't really enjoy my tax class.  I just can't get into either of them, although I am very close to the end of the line.

How can my enthusiasm and drive for my accounting career nearly vanish in the last weeks of school?  Did I make the correct career choice?  Am I meant to be something else?

Why?

Thanks to [info]scificann and [info]sashua for their assistance yesterday in the first wave of the move. Several pieces of furniture have been moved and the new place is taking shape.

More small stuff will be moved over the week, but the final push will be next weekend. Pizza and Beer shall exist for the benefit of those who do come help.

Movelog: it just goes on

Fred just stopped by again. Originally the official notice was for the 15th, but we had an extra week free if we needed it to help clean out.

He got somebody who would pick up the mobile home for free, but only was available on the 16th. Or it would cost him an extra $2,000 for this project. So, the pressure bears down on us some more.

Ugh...

Well, I rented a storage unit today, and with some help loaded 2 full vanloads into it. That should break some stuff free around here to make life simpler when the big move comes along.

Schedule looks like this.  Sunday we get keys in the morning, and [info]scificann has volunteered his services with his big pick up. This Sunday, I'd like to move the couch, W/D, Shelves that have been emptied already.  Friday evening, I'd like to shift the beds and electronics and begin living there, if the big red truck is available again...(6 pack of Guinness persuasive enough?)

We won't have cable till the following Friday, so we will be dependent on our cell phones till that is hooked up. Thats why I plan to keep sleeping here until next Friday.  I'll probably move my desktop computer to the new place, and just work off the laptop for the week.

I'll take any help I can get for Saturday and Sunday of next week for the final move and close out of this place.
