I was threatened with bodily harm if I didn't update. So here I am! Updating! See me update! Watch as I update up a storm!
That is, if I had something to really update with. Okay, so I do have one bit of news.
That promotion I've been fighting for years? Finally happened. I didn't want it. I don't want it. Yeah, I am still under my supe (who was promoted and dragged me with him, the fucker), it's a bit more money. And along with that, more responsibility.
Responsibility for a department that is already held together with baling twine and duct tape. I don't want it! I don't care about the money!
I just don't want to have to fight for everything we get JUST to repair their ailing, aging HVAC system that they refuse to put money back into to make sure it works properly. Dudes, we are coming up on winter here!
But now, not only is the main campus under my umbrella of official responsibility, so are the other properties in the state. [sigh] That means, I'm hardly at my desk anymore as I jet between buildings, properties and constant 'fires'. I'm...a manager.
Add to that, they want to send me to school for Facility Management. I know where that will lead and I can tell you RIGHT FUCKING NOW, I don't want it. Especially if it requires school at night. I won't tell you about the education program that Don (the supe) has shoved at me for classes sponsored by the company.
Writing? Happening a little bit but not as often as I'd like. Drew? Happening a lot more, which makes me happy and at the same time it's like...Baby? I need to breathe.
This weekend will be getting Drew's dad's garage ready to store my bike. It's filled with all the old stuff that Drew pulled from our apartment when we got the condo and now he needs to decide what to do with it. Sell it, find a home for it, or make room in the condo.
Me? Me Thag. Me lift heavy things.
I have anime piling up to watch, things I TOTALLY dropped that I NEED to catch up for friends. [flails] Thank God the barbeque is getting cleaned at some point and stored for the winter, too.

Three in one day. Been a while, huh? I am making up for my lack of posting in the recent past and that I won't be around much next week. So you've gotten me in your face for three posts! Aren't you lucky!

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fics favorite you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.
Well, you know I won't tag anyone. Feel free to toot your own horn. And I cheated and posted six because I couldn't choose!
1. In the Glow of the Firefly's Dance. Shounen Onmyouji, Seiryuu/Seimei, PG-13 This one was one of my favorites because it allowed me to explore Seimei a little and exercise my philosophy muscles. I'm always so intent on the sex (not that I'm complaining!) that sometimes these quiet moments are extremely attractive to me.
Now to finish watching the series. [headdesk]
2. Redemption. Fullmetal Alchemist, Hughs/Mustang, NC-17 Written in present tense, this was my first time at trying something that was immediate and desperate. I think it worked out well. Funnily enough, this isn't my favorite pairing in FMA but I do enjoy it when it's done right. I hope I did it right.
3. Dutiful Son. Saiyuki, Jien/mother (incest), NC-17 Every time I do something like this, this fic makes it on to my list. Another one of those desperate fics, I really enjoyed exploring Sha Jien as he really is one of my favorite characters from Saiyuki.
4. A Good Plan. Basilisk - Kouga Ninpou Chou, Hyouma/Saemon, NC-17 Along with Generator Gawl, Basilisk ranks up there as one of my all time favorite animes. It's short, at 26 eps, it's compact and ties up all the loose ends at the end. It's terribly tragic, violent and desperately tender at times.
Emerging from this anime, Hyouma and Saemon rose as my favorite pair. There is just so much there between them every time they're on screen. Could be me...[grin] but that's all that matters. Their voices as they banter just struck a deep resonant chord in me.
5. Sweet Taste of Sake. Samurai Deeper Kyo, Yukimura/Kyo, R Another one of those fics that I wrote that wasn't brainmeats melting sex. I can imagine the sex was completely mind blowing before the scene started though!
What I like most about my efforts here is the completely hedonistic attitude of Yukimura. I would like to think I captured him from the anime and manga.
6. Holly Jolly. Weiss Kreuz, Schuldig (implied Schuldig/Farfarello), R Many things that makes me glee over this is the dream sequence. Also, it is one of the few fics that I got some enthusiastic glee out of dhaunea. As her tastes are of exceptional quality, that I was able to get any reaction from her that was not "what the hell were you smoking when you wrote this?" places this fic among my favorites. I must have done something right and that makes me happy to know that I had.

Even though she knows of my penchant for music videos that are instrumental (far too often AMVs are done to contemporary lyrics and while the vid maker thought it was a good idea at 3 am, it usually doesn't end up getting their concept across very well at all), I still find this one very well done, lyrics and all.
Now I must have a download of this video and the mp3 because it just rocks that hard.
It doesn't hurt that I have a searing crush on like Azula. |

I should know better than to follow an author so blindly that I will read anything from them, even if what they write will hit on things to me that are so distasteful to me and hit my biggest, major squicks.
I should have gone to Amazon first. Or at least, read the inside of the book before buying.

Subject, the first: This is MINE! And much squealing could be heard through the bookstore.
Subject, the second: More squeeing. Much of it incoherent.
Okay. I have this to say about the movie. Bear with me while I fanboy.
Bruce Wayne/Christian Bale? Unf and guh of unbelievable proportions. Bale is sexy in anything he does but he's MOST sexy as Bruce Wayne. The ONLY complaint I have is his batvoice. If he could have just cranked it back a bit. Not a lot, mind, just a bit. No other complaints and just a lot of unfing over his fucking HAIR! [wheeze]
Joker/Heath Ledger: OHMYHOLYFUCKINGGOD...[breathes into a bag]. Not because the Joker was sexy. He wasn't, come on. He was smeared and greasy and fucking nuttier than a fruit cake. But the sharp, discerning cunning behind the fucked up mind...wow. Just fucking wow. Ledger stole the show.
Alfred/Michael Caine: Dude. He just ruled. Period. All over the place.
Lucius Fox/Morgan Freeman: Worship at the altar of Morgan Freeman. God speed your recovery, man.
Gordon/Gary Oldman: The man is a fucking god. I love Oldman with a passion and this is my favorite of all his roles.
Harvey Dent/Aaron Eckhart: Eckhart was so subtle and understated and Dent's origin was just beautifully done. Only Eckhart could pull off a character whose first name is Harvey.
Other kudos go out to Nestor Carbonell who played the Mayor in the movie but I first remember seeing him in the live action Tick as Batmanuel. And to Eric Roberts who played Maroni. The man is aging beautifully.
I'm sad to say Rachel Dawes/Maggie Gyllenhaal just didn't do it for me like Katie Holmes did. I tried to warm to her but it just didn't happen.
This movie is a keeper. Unf.

disclaimer: this isn't me looking for OMG U R A GUD WRITTER, so save it, okay? [grin] this is me working through something.
Man.
There are days I truly believe I'm nothing more than some wannabe writer hack whose talent couldn't fill a shot glass. Seriously.
I have a couple of stories tabbed out right now that I read and reread. Okay, I'm reading and rereading the porn parts, I'm a perv and never denied it.
But these porn bits...they are written so beautifully. So balls achingly hot that I am just spell bound. It's the kind of emotionaly evocation in the middle of sex that you feel the pull in your stomach, a tight twisting ache that spreads like wildfire down through your legs and makes your toes curl.
You hold your inhale as the characters race to the pinnacle. They rein you in to balance, captive at the peak with every shuddered breath and when it finally breaks free, your explosive breath matches their release and you descend downward, floating languidly in the cloud of endorphins.
There's disappointment when you reach the bottom, and the deep longing to do it again and live emeshed in the rush of physical contact that never ends.
[sigh]
I should take these scenes and dissect them, see what it is about them that makes them work. If I could see that, I bet I could write the same.
My fear? In deconstruction, I don't want to destroy what it is that makes them so beautiful to enjoy. |

King of Sanq: Chapter Four

In discussions with my sounding board, this fic is taking a drastic turn from where I originally had planned to go with it. So my work in getting several chapters ahead have to be completely torn apart and reworked. Not that this is a bad thing, just going to take some time. Sorry for the long delays.
In other news, if you're not following Wanderland, you should be. And look! They even have a handy comm called wanderland_comm for you to follow so you can be kept informed of their updates!
Caliban is such an asshole. It's a wonder David hasn't put his eye out, yet. And from discussions with the author and artist...it just keeps getting better.

[laughs] I haven't been to LJ in months and months and months. I pick and choose individual people to catch up with, some religiously, some as it occurred to me to check in with people (give me a break, I'm a guy with my other brain actively engaged more than usual these days. Owning own place, FTW!). Today, I actually had the time, brainspace and energy to flip back through several pages of my LJ.
A few things hit me.
You guys still rule, even while I was gone.
I need to drop a few communities that just don't hit me like they used to.
Everyone seemed to have an opinion on the Twilight/Stephanie Meyer new book. Heh. Never had a desire to read any of them, but it seems the camps are three solid ones. Love it. Hate it. Meh about it. Doesn't appear to be any subtle shades of gray.

I haven't been online much in weeks. Just not enough hours in the day. Occasionally, I'll hop on and do a quick scan of some comms and a few of you before or during work. fanficrants being my guilty pleasure. yeahyeah...
So, I hop on this morning since Drew and I are both going in late to work (OMG I deserve it but that's another tale), and do a quick scan of some comms and come across this rant.
Me: *standing in the closet door and looking for jeans* Baby, how many bodies do you think we can fit in our closet?
Drew: *shaving. the water stops* What?
Me: Bodies, in the closet. How many can we fit in there, do you think?
Drew: *towel in hand and smelling like shaving cream [editorial aside: guh]* Where did that come from?
Me: Just something discussed on a comm.
Drew: *gets his gear for work and heads for the door* You just get weirder and weirder.
Me: *trots after* No really, I mean, I guess it would depend on decomposition and...
Drew: Get in the truck, Jan.
It's no wonder he thinks being online is bad influence.
However, not being online does not equal not writing. I'm writing (not a lot, but I am) and realize I failed to post chapter four of King of Sanq over the fourth of July. Sorry about that and will get to it shortly, if you're reading. Also plugging away at the vampire fic and the clone fic.

Something just occurred to me as I'm at my desk (this is where you all gasp in surprise now. I haven't seen my desk in weeks) and writing. Well...and working but it's a lull in activity for me so...
I write slash. (slash as in m/m since terms tend to morph into new meanings every time I leave the internet for any length of time) Not really a revelation as I'm sure you all know. What I don't know if you noticed is that I don't write a lot of canonical slash.
Last night, after an energetic session of furniture scooting (and how nice is it that we can do that and not worry about the neighbors? Bottom floor! Yeah, baby!), Drew asked why I don't write about canonically gay characters. (not as in original but as in fanfiction)
I had to think about that. Long and hard.

Wellp, I'm caught up watching vampire Knight to episode 10. I have scanlations to a chapter I can't remember but I think it's also current. I'll check when I get home.
Now normally I don't mind spoilers. I hate suprises especially ones that will end up bumming me out and bringing my mood down. But I sure wish I hadn't spoiled myself for Vampire Knight by checking out the wikipedia page.
Not really sure if this will involve spoilerifficness but it's under a cut if I do.

Although it's just a few before I'm out the door again. Gah.
Update of sorts (because I got bitched at for not staying in closer touch. Several times in fact, and was at one point threatened with a search party of trained search weasels. Scary.)
Spending time with Drew. And the bike. Sometimes all at once, too. Much barbecuing and partying to be had by all on the weekends and the man is keeping me exhausted. Work has me on my toes and I'm hoping for a break at the end of June/July time frame. I can hope, anyway. fuh.
Mostly, catching anime when I can. Here's the rundown.
Neo Angelique Abyss - Hot guys, all sworn to protect Angelique. Typical male harem series on the surface, it is an anime based on a dating (?) game after all. All pretty faces sworn to defend the fragile flower (who really has immense personal inner strength! really!) with their body and their lives!
...except for this thing that each has this secret of some kind that, so far, seems to be taking the story a little deeper. Plans within plans.
It'll be disappointing if it only runs 13 episodes because it does have potential. We'll see but I'm thinking it is only 13, which means that all conflict will be resolved within an episode, two at the most. Very episodic in nature, which is kinda sad but it's pretty and the guys are pretty and it's just pretty.
Hair is there, too. Oh yes. Hair.
The "I'll protect you with my life" schtick is getting old, though.
Vampire Knight - Something tells me this will be another harem type anime. At least the two male leads seem to have this thing for the female lead. But the animation sure is pretty. And vampires. Dude. Zero. Angst. Emo. School uniforms. unf.
Kain/Aidou. Blond all over the place, baby. guh
Leads on a full version of the opening song? And the closing credits really are sort of freaky.
Macross Frontier - sharona1x2 mentioned this and usually her taste in anime is something I end up enjoying as well, so I thought I'd give it a try when I get a few moments to start watching. I have the first nine eps downloaded so far.
Gundam 00 - Dude...dude. Mecha, hot guys, a story. The story seems to be just a bit more simplistic than Gundam Wing in terms of the philosophy of war but did I mention more guys than you can shake a stick at and mecha? Yeah. That.
I'm glad there will be another season. I'm reading that, right? Another season? Guh and unf. Porn is mah frieeeeend and much will be written because it's just a cornucopia of hot guys and it's screaming to make all of them have hard, blinding orgasms. It is now my lot in my life to see to this. Yes...yes it is.
Allelujah and Lockon, man. Guh and unf. Shower. Handjobs. [happy sigh]
Anyone have the full version of the opening song as well? Anyone have any leads on good fanfic for it?

Quick requests. Two, in fact.
One. Does anyone know, right off, if there is another fansub group doing Neo Angelique ~Abyss~ besides Strawberry Mint subs? Their subs are okay but as I don't like author's notes inserted into the direct text of a fic, I equally, if not more so, dislike it when they do it in the dialogue of the fucking subtitles. Not at the top of the screen as an aside... but directly into the subtitles. I find it EXTREMELY immature and if there's another fansubber to follow, I most certainly will.
If not, I will suffer through it and roll my eyes since it's free.
Two. Anyone have a copy of Gundam 00 episode four that is not Nyoro~n-ZC done? The copy I have has the karoyke toward the end covering up the subtitles for the conversation between Saji and his sister. Probably not Earth shaking dialogue but I hate missing things.
There is a reason I dislike the .mkv format. If not done right, dialogue will overlap (especially if two people are talking at once) and you can't read a damn thing.
I've tried using GOM but sometimes it won't display large chunks of the dialogue, so VLC it is for me, even though sometimes the subtitle text sucks ass. Such is the price for free fansubs, eh? As soon as it's for sale, I'm all over it so I'm not stressing too badly about it.
Oh...and Lockon/Allelujah smut in the works. Just saying...it's the hair, man. It's the hair.
...and now back into hiding. Hope everyone is doing well and I hope after summer things will calm down for me and I'll be back with a vengeance.

And she's the only salvation for Arcadia? And you have all these guys willing to protect her WITH THEIR LIVES? All in the first episode? [headdesk]
Harem stories...how I loathe love am mysteriously drawn to you.
[sighs] I hate you, bear. I'm just saying...At least there are enough incredibly sexy [insert jewel-colored eyed] men to slash to hell and back.
Why can't I like mainstream stuff? You know, the stuff that's actually GOOD?

Here's a question that occurred to me out of the blue.
As most of us here are fanfic writers (or avid readers), we on occasion see comments/reviews/feedback to oneshot stories that read along the line of 'gr8. wud luv to c moar of dis'.
Loosely translated to mean, they are anxious to see more of that story.
Now, clearly, most of the time, we as authors mark when a story is a one shot or short story and that there are no plans to continue and we sometimes get those perplexing remarks that indicate that the reader wish for it to continue anyway.
My question to ponder for the day.
Do professional (read: published) authors who write short stories for publication get fanmail that says that? Do they get letters from readers who ask to see more (or an extension) of a particular short story?
No need to answer. Just something I was pondering as I eat my eggs and bacon and stare at my partner across the table while he's engrossed in reading a magazine and wishing we were actually back in bed. |

I finished this last night and wanted to get this posted before going to work.

Picked this up from beckerbell and thought to pass this on. Very insightful and enlightening. It explains quite a bit and frankly, now, I can tell people who want to whine that "OMG REAL PEEPLE DON'T DO THAT" to fuck off. (Not that I don't already, but still...) Sex and flirting in Japan.
Um yeah. Guess you could tell by my actually making a post on Friday that I'm not boycotting. I wish much luck to all those who are. I find myself in agreement with cleolinda so...nuf sed. Done deal to me.
Trying to gack free music again. Anyone have the full length version of Dream Island Obsessional Park by Susumu Hirasawa (who did the soundtrack to Beserk)? I'd love a copy if you could swing one my way. I think it is the opening song to Paranoia Agent, if that helps any.
So, in my entry on LiveJournal the other day, trumpeting my return to online life (dum dumdum DUUUUUUM) I said I'd blog about things you wanted to see me blog about. technosage said she wanted me to "Blog about the top ten prettiest heads of hair in media or anime/manga/yaoi/comics fandom". I suspect she is indulging me in my obsession obsession obsession with hair.
I wouldn't want to disappoint her (like it would be in my idiom to pass up the opportunity to wax orgasmic about my favorite subject of all time...[blinks])

Back and looking to get the ball rolling again. I don't know if I'll be around as much as I used to or not. We'll have to see how things pan out because honestly?
...while I missed you guys very much (and I really did), I didn't miss LJ and all the inherent drama that comes with it.
I'm a lot calmer these days (which makes Drew happy. When Drew's happy, understandably, I'm happy), even though I've been jangled with this horrifically huge undertaking called a move. I remember when my moving involved dumping my duffle bag in the back of my truck and taking off. When did I accumulate so much stuff? [baffled] I certainly learned more about do-it-yourself decorating than I think I would ever have wanted to learn.
And I did miss writing. Got a little done, not much to speak of. Mostly sat around and tried to decide where my writing priorities were, should be and would be from here on out. Got some RP I want to pick up again and original writing I want to concentrate on, still not lose sight of those fandoms that mean something to me (even as they are beginning to turn gray around the edges [grin]) and write for the sheer joy of watching my two currently favorite sexy guys shagging until they are sweaty and sated writing.
So. Here I am, back on a sort-of-kind-of basis. And to celebrate, a meme!
Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll reply with a comment or write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc.
Make sure to give me some time to get around to it all as I won't be leaping on top of this right off and going like gangbusters. That requires energy and time, both of which are still in a little bit short supply. I reserve the right to not blog about something too personal but I'll make sure to let you know what it is. [grin] And I don't guarantee that it will all be in serious seriousness. |

Wow. I didn't realize how long it had been since I last made an appearance here. I am made of lose and fail. Thanks to everyone who emailed me and sent me ecards. It's nice to know that I'm in your thoughts. Made me feel really good, actually, because I know how LJ can be and if you aren't updating regularly, people will forget about you.
I wish I had the energy for more than a brief update but that's the way of things. Drew has me us moving at full speed but everything is starting to fall into place and we're in the last final stages of the big push to move. Hoping by next weekend things will be in place and we can clean this apartment and turn in the keys.
Okay, so, busy and working hard, my back starts aching. As in a lot. Like I've been doing hard manual labor, which I guess I have. Didn't think anymore of it.
Then this afternoon, my stomach starts hurting.
I mean...hurting as in pangs lancing through my stomach. And I'm nauseous and bathroom running galore. Exhaustion doesn't begin to cover how tired I am and I feel like I've been beaten from my neck to my lower back and from shoulder to shoulder. I had a shower and it hurt...fucking hurt to dry it off.
It's almost 8 pm and I'm ready for bed. [flails]
In other news, I've been on a fanfic writing spree, although I've not finished anything yet. I have several works that I've been plugging along with, as well as getting my groove on for Bishop Gregor writing.
We'll lose internet access in a few days and I'm not sure when it's to be turned on at the condo. I guess a few days at most.

I'm still alive. Thanks to everyone who sent emails/well wishes while I was down. I'm still down because my ribs hurt when I breathe, but I can breathe without launching into a coughing fit. I consider this a major victory.
frogmajick is my crack dealer. I, in turn, am crack dealer for others. It's one huge enabling crack circle.
And TW fandom? Stop with the Gwen bashing please? She's not as bad as all that.
I hate dhaunea for dragging bearilou and kouryou into WoW hell. I especially hate it that Drew won't let me run with the big girls. [hates]
Continued cheers for dreamcatcher for her continuing saga in the world of amving. She's doing pretty damn good, if I say so. Now if she'd just finish that crossover, I'll be good as pie.
There's probably more shout outs I should do but this, along with writing something for a friend's birthday, has pretty much wiped me out.
...that and Drew is looking mighty fine in his work clothes. I think I'll go help him out of them. I just love a guy in a tie and suit. |

Let me tell you, it's a true friend that will drive 45 minutes one way to bring you a video game and the strategy guide to cheer you up when you're sick. Then make you breakfast. All after just having gotten off from working a 12 hour shift and limping around on a bruised knee, ankle and wrist from a nasty spill the night before.

Okay. What started as a dry, hacking cough and a spontaneous nosebleed from out of nowhere has managed to develop into the creeping ickies with a nasty sounding cough like I'm underwater. I've been home all day, sleeping between bouts of having to get up before I go crazy, only to exhaust myself sitting at the computer staring at the screen and crawling back into bed.
...which is where I'm heading now. See you guys when the ickies decide to go away.

Getting ready to settle down and write, I do a fast pass over fanficrants. Looking for ... a plot idea. Yeah! That's it. That's what I was doing...
...and I actually found one, covered in dust.
The fanficrant was about crossovers and I won't go into details about the rant because I don't really care. But it brought to the surface a crossover idea bearilou hit me with years ago that she wanted to try her hand at and we worked on getting the universes to seamlessly mesh.
The plot got a little unwieldy for what she originally wanted to do (namely, see two characters in bed...she admits it is shallow. She did back then, too) and it sort of went into a box and put in the attic.
Now? I have this urge to dust it off and have a go at it.
