Guess when the Dailey offspring emerges! The hint/guidance is the three due dates we've received so far -- September 17, September 19, and September 24. Therefore, this is going to be rather entertaining... :) The winner will be the one(s) who guess closest to the actual birthdate without going over. Prize? Eternal fame in my LiveJournal. With all that out of the way... guess away! Poll #1155893 Guess the due date of Jeremy and Molly's offspring... Open to: All, results viewable to: All When will the little Dailey make its appearance? |

This is amusing (courtesy of dilbert.com): FROM THE DESK OF THE EVIL HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR: Performance Appraisal for Mr. Dailey: He never appears stressed about his work and he sets a compelling example for the younger employees. It would be accurate to say that Mr. Dailey appears ever productive and has been seen dropping in at off hours and many employees have indicated that they are eager to comment on his work. Mr. Dailey makes decisions with minimal direction. I find that his work sets Mr. Dailey apart from his peers. Mr. Dailey has a wide variety of interests and pursuits. Mr. Dailey has left his mark on the division. For completeness I should mention that a reevaluation of his salary is long overdue. It is important to note that his performance defies measurement. |

Updates: 1) Molly's gall bladder removal surgery went well. She'd been having a few "issues" over the last few weeks, and the doctors found it wasn't up to snuff... so out it came. Sadly, we didn't get to keep it in a bottle for the mantle. 2) I transferred out of Tewksbury and over to Marlborough (finally). Different business unit. Much shorter commute. Much rejoicing. 3) I need to desperately weed-whack the lawn. 4) I rearranged my office upstairs, but it's still not completely unpacked. Neither are all the LEGOs. Maybe we'll get the new living room done by winter. |

Well, since I never seem to get around to updating, here's a smattering of updates... 1) Finally got around to upgrading the P3 Linux box (whose motherboard has some rather popped capacitors -- thank you Abit). A co-worker gave me a P4 motherboard w/proc and 1 GB of memory, but somehow I misplaced the memory. Ran up to CompUSA during lunch (19 mins from Tewksbury to Nashua each way, might've been a little faster except for cop hiding on the ramp to Route 40), purchased 2 GB of RAM for $130 (no tax!). Got home, continued working on machine, only to have the DVD-ROM drive die. This causes extreme problems when you're installing FC 7 off of DVD (or any media, for that matter). Ran to Best Buy down the road and snagged cheap DVD writer for $60. Work on that to be continued shortly. 2) Amalie Benajmin from the Boston Globe (who frequents the NESN Red Sox broadcasts) -- yes. 3) Molly is up in NH right now with her father (who managed to break his foot last weekend, while hobbling on his other one with Achilles tendonitis). I will be joining them tomorrow morning on the island. 4) Work -- yeah, right. I have nothing positive to say, so I won't say it. Suffice it to say, I feel a large lack of respect from a few bodies. 5) Home front -- nothing new, no new remodels at the moment. Looking at taking down the pine trees once my refund from Raytheon for excess taxes comes through (which hopefully will be next Thursday). After that, maybe we *might* enlarge the main driveway and abandon the side driveway -- plans TBD. 6) Sabres free agency -- don't get me started. I think the team will be okay with the youngsters (everyone remember when most of Rochester was called up? they seemed to do okay), but I'm not very thrilled with the front office right now. 7) Automotives -- I passed 142,000 miles on my Saturn today. That's about it. Your bulk update. Enjoy. :) |

So a few people have come up to me and asked "when are you going to post an update about... (fill in the blank)"? I suppose I can answer a few things. I've been busy working at work, allegedly working on the house, watching hockey, watching more hockey, and... yes, watching hockey. Next week is five games in five nights - three collegiate, two professional. As for now, tomorrow is a weekend series between RIT and AIC out in West Springfield. Spring can't come soon enough. I need to get out rollerblading again. |

Seattle was fun, but please tell me... ...how in the hell can an airline, having a plane on the ground for two hours after its departure time until it pushes back, forget half the passengers' luggage? I blame JFK Airport. Remind me never to fly through there ever again. |

Color me unpatriotic, but do we really need to have CNN rebroadcast all its coverage again? ...do we really need multiple movies coming out at the same time about the same subject? I don't see us pausing the same time every year on Pearl Harbor day, and that was pretty darned aggressive too. I'm just sick of the overhype. *note: This doesn't mean that I'm a complete insensitive bastard -- I am still appalled at what happened that day. I'm just not happy with how the media and Hollywood are dealing with it. |
