So my first year at school will be all about the bread. I've decided to work on bread for the summer then... not as exciting, and pretty time consuming.
Today was was sorta an exception. Yes it's bread but it's sweet. The twist has cocoa/flax in it. the crust is nice and flaky. very good yeah.

Better this time for sure...
Still not acceptable through. I finally got the "crunchy feet" I was striving for. The tempurate was jumped to 400 degrees instead of 350,They puffed good, but half the batch didn't... well fuck!!! The oven is such a piece of crap!!! I want the smoothe pretty domes and the crunchy feet damnit!

Sweet potato cupcakes with spice filling & nutmeg meringue!
I really wanted to bake with sweet potato for some reason. I really love the color and the beta carotine in em. I read a buncha recipes online first. All of them had a cup of oil in them... thats fricken gross. SO i ommited the oil, used a bit of creme and an egg, used whole grain flour with flax. Much much better. The filling was something i had to make up, essentially it's sweet potato, creme, flour, brown sugar & spice. The meringue had to be double boiled and then kissed with a blow torch... in then end it tasted alot like metled marshmallow.
Very good. Very Nice.

this is my second crack at parisian macaroons.
hot damn, you be ugly macaroons. That being said, these puppies are supposed to be difficult.. the first batch turned into a spreading crawl across the cookie sheet. Not to worry, i shall achieve perfection one day.

you ever get that gift from someone you really don't know and then never know what to say afterwards?
For secret Santa a co-worker gave me this creepy light up snow man thing... It's made out of glass and sits on a black monolithic looking platform all the while giving off a errie hypnotic glow. I keep thinking it's saying to me "mmiicchheeelllle...jjuummppp oofff aa ccclliifff ..and eeaatt caanndddyyy..LOTS OF IT!!!!". Wow thanks... it almost makes me wanna buy you two sweaters! Refer to figure B. I highly dislike being shunted into a secret santa gift exchange with people i don't know very well. the holidays seem to make people want to say "oh indeed i love you stranger!" and then the next thing you know you've got a porcelin kitten wrapped in celophane sitting on your desk.
I was never a huge fan of "stuff" everything I own is functional, and serves a purpose for being there, unless it is given to me. Materialisim... people work hard so they can get more stuff, and after they have stuff, they go shopping for even more stuff after that. and so forth and so forth. And when i say stuff, i'm talking singing bass on a faux wood platform kinda stuff. It's mass produced, and made of a millon plastic parts which are all very sharp and very jagged.

Ah, Mecha Get together! Hurrah! those are brandy beans over his eyes btw... brandy beans are brandy filled chocolate. When he removed them he had this chocolate stigmata thing going on down his cheeks.
emily said you couldn't get drunk off brandy beans, cause the chocolate wasn't air tight and the alcohol would evaporate. so it was decided phil would eat three boxes to prove her wrong. He made it past 2/3's of a box and then got sick.

I drew, I Christmas shopped, I watched TV, I saw King Kong with Mecha, I had coffee with a stranger, and was followed by a homeless person demanding spare change.
Alas... STILL BORED.
