Well, since Skeetie is doing that job today I, sore arm & all, took a trek over to a new second hand store my Dad told me about in Garfield. It wasn't that impressive yet but I can see potential. I found a few things like a fun old lerners camera (you all know I love cameras), a wide ethnic bracelet and a very old portrait of a little boy making his Bar Mitzpah! From there I went to the big Thrift store that I hit pretty regularly and got a very fun nautical rug, some fab vintage fabric for fez's, some lace trim and an orphaned teddy bear (can't resist old orphaned teddy bears, either :-))


On the way home I stopped to get a special bottle of Voodoo Tiki Tequila for Skeetie to commemorate his first job in his new business of fixing those Italian tire balancing machines! This is what he went to the classes in Ohio for and already he's got his first job! I am so happy for him! Of course, it has to be the hottest day of the freaking year and they have to go to the Bronx for this job but...it's a start!


Now I have shaken out my rug, put it in the living room entrance and am kicking back in the central air. I'll have dinner with the folks tonight while I wait for Skeetie to finish up with that job. Can't wait to hear all about how it was!

Yesterday I had my Jinx appointment and Eric did an amazing job at the first session of my intense Punchinello!! This piece is being worked on the upper, inner arm and WOW is this a tough spot. YIKES. The meat flaps as my friend Steph calls them. ha!


The detail that Eric captures is just amazing and we got the outline, most shading and some color done before I was ready for a meltdown (and it was getting darkish out, I can't drive when it's dark, totally nervous and neurotic)SO next session we will do the rest of the color and the intensive face work. I can't WAIT to see the total result.

Today we were supposed to go to a car show but Skeetie got called for a job so I had some tea with mom and I will relax and maybe delve into some studio work. Tomorrow we'll have an adventure.

WELL! It was a beautiful weather night with a perfect breeze in the Woodland here so since Skeetie went to have dinner with Mama M me and my bud Blanc had a barbeque here at the house! OK, so we used the highly inferior electric grill but it was fun, none the less. Blanca came with her wicked homemade potato salad and some brewskies and I provided the Omaha steaks burgers and dogs.

Saturday, killing time while I waitied for Skeetie to drive home from Ohio and to deflect the nervousness of thinking about him on that long drive I spent the entire day in the studio working on a new Art Card by Tink© which I have called 'Our lady of the Sideshow'. The collage is finished and the new Art Cards are on order and will be in shortly. It will have a fun P.T.Barnum quote on the back. Here's a sneak peek:

Today, now that my Skeetie is home, we headed out to Harbor Freight to look at the tools so Skeet could get together some of the tools he will need for his new business of fixing the Italian tire balancing machines.


From there we headed out to Nutley for a flea market in the park and it was fabulous! We found lots of great stuff like some 50's trays for the hot rod, a vintage automotive catalog, a vintage Schmidt's sign, a GREAT old flourescent light for the studio, a 50's Presto timer and a multi shape cookie cutter.

After the flea we headed over to Skeetie's bud Dave's house. He's renovating his house and wanted us to see the progress. His kitchen is gonna be kick ass. He also has a ton of wine making equipment that he wants to give to Skeet and he ALSO has a beautiful drafting table for me!!! Skeetie will pick that stuff up later in the week.


Then it was on to the Shannon Rose Pub for some dinner. It was fabulous.








Then we came home and relaxed. It was a tiring day and Skeetie was exhausted from his week in Ohio. The weather was superb today! It was breezy with no humidity. A perfect flea market day.

OH! we had the BEST time! I so love a real Old School carnival and this had ALL the features! The Oddity Museum AND the World of Wonders Sideshow and just the thrill of meeting Poohbah!! Oh what a fun night! We had a severe downpour/thunderstorm about an hour before we headed out for the fair so I was SO glad that the rain passed through and stayed away!


Blanca had her doubts about the food and there was NO BEER at the fair at all!! She had a cheesesteak (with cheese whiz) that she said was a horror and I played it safe with slices of pizza (I have most DEFINITELY had better) along with a 5 buck lemonade that didn't even compare to NY street fair lemonades but all in all it was a perfect night.

This evening me & Blanca ventured over to the NJ Fair for the World of Wonders show and had the BEST time! We got there at the perfect time (ahead of the crowds and just after a downpour!) We wandered the grounds, had something to eat and then headed over to the World of Wonders show! I will post pics of the fair as soon as I get them all together but for now I have some fab video of the beloved Poohbah eating fire. I am so happy to have been able to meet Poohbah whilst he is still with us!

Yesterday we ventured up to the Orange County Fair Grounds for that flea market but the weather was SO iffy and it kept raining at intervals. When we got up there it wasn't on so we headed for Wurtsboro.


We hit on a tiny little antique store, which wasn't too impressive save for ONE thing that I must get back there for as it would be a perfect birthday gift for Skeet. Then headed for Danny's Village Inn for some rustic NY State atmosphere and yummy food. It was a magical day. Since Skeetie heads to Ohio today for his class, anyway we spent the day would have been fine with me!


Before we headed out, Skeetie, using the industrial hand cart, got my cabinet into the studio and I adore it! There is a spot missing it's drawers but we will fix it and this cabinet will house ALL my collage papers, ephemera, canvas boards, ATC blanks etc! It's SO perfect as the drawers are shallow and it will make searching through them all the easier!


This evening we just vegetated on the couch and watched the tv while I made Skeetie some cookies to take with him so he'd have some snacks for the week away. I am gonna miss him SO much!

Today after he leaves I'll spend some time with my family and catch up from the week. We are planning to head for Kinchley's Tavern a famous old restaurant. I hope you are all having magical holiday weekends! Hopefully the weather where you are is much better than here!!

The weather is not good here this holiday weekend so far. Overcast and humid with the threat of rain. Yesterday I ran to Home Depot to get some shelving for the studio and what did I do, as I struggled to fit the shelving in the jeep? ...locked my keys inside.

ARGH! It is precisely why I shouldn't go anywhere alone, especially my least favorite place to go alone (Home Depot) HA! When I finally got rescued and got home I tore through the studio cleaning and arranging making a spot for the old cabinet Skeetie found for me not stopping for a single moment until I dropped at 10 pm.

Today we will hit on a flea market up in Middletown NY and if that's a washout we'll go to Wurtsboro for the Canal Town Emporium, O'Toole's Harley Davidson and Danny's Village Inn for some great food.

My family used to have some property up there in Mamakating which was right nearby Wurtsboro and the town is filled with NY State charm.

For now, I am waiting for Mom to come by for Saturday morning tea. Happy 4th of July, everyone! Hugs & love, tink xoxo

Good Morning fellow Journal-ites! This morning is a quiet and pretty morning but I have heard storms could come through at any time throughout the day. I sold the Fairy Magic bracelet over the weekend so that will go off to the post office today. Thanks, Susan!


Yesterday we ventured up to Nyack and lo & behold, the Vintage Car Store was closed. It's never colsed on Sunday!! We were quite disappointed. We did get to the Nyack River Club, though, and had a fab lunch with the dining room all opened up to the fresh air and the Hudson River.

It was a fun day. We wandered around Christmas Tree Shops and then came home to relax and hang out on the couch. A couple of storms came through but in between the sun shone bright!


I nabbed an amazing Mamiyaflex camera recently and I am so very excited about that!! These beautiful vintage portraiture cameras are just amazing.








I always have a camera attached to me. Don't leave home without it!
