9:24pm: 'i think you've found your niche'
i've been really looking forward to the end of this quarter for a ton of reasons, but one of the main ones is that i can actually start running again on a regular basis...

anyone that knows me knows that running is a huge part of my life and it's something i love to do for some odd reason. i haven't run this sporadically since seventh grade - that's like almost ten years ago (a scary thought in itself).

anyways, now that i have the time to run again i'm feeling so much better! i had an awesome 40 minute run in the heat today. I'm not sure my overall distance or overall pace, but my timed miles were 6:56 on the way out and 6:38 on the way back! Those times aren't amazing at all or anything but they surprised me - I wasn't really working too hard but i didnt expect to hit anything under 7 right now, especially on a moderate run.

so my goal will be to return to running the Twin Sizzler on July 4th, in Medina, a race I had run for 6 consecutive years before i had to miss it last year because of work. I think my best times there are 16:59 for the 5k and 36:10 for the 10k. i'd like to beat at least one of them.

in other news...anyone know anything about political economy? i'm working on my take-home final for it and its pretty much the last thing i have to do for school...so i'm looking for any help to make it easier. i'm sooo dunnnn with this quarter!!!!!

6:17pm: I'm really tired now. I had a lot of energy this morning but it has all been sapped. Only 102 minutes away from the end of work tonight then I can go home and take a nap! I need one.

I'm pretty happy because the end of this week means i'm halfway through the quarter and just 5 WEEKS! away from graduating.

in my state and local politics class, we watched this documentary today:


IT IS FANTASTIC. anyone who wants to say anything or be involved in the 2008 election needs to watch this.
It centers around Ohio and the role it played in the 2004 election, looking in hindsight about each campaign's strategy, tactics, methods, and their effects on the election's outcome. I'd watch it again if anyone wants to have a viewing party!

After one more class today (which I hate saying because today's not over and I'm a big believer of NOT counting anything unfinished), I will be done with 4 weeks of the quarter. That's 4 out of 10, 40%.
JUST SIX WEEKS TO GO!

i'm going to try to get my dad to give me a hundred or so for a graduation party as a graduation present. The plan was for me to get lasik, but because my eyes are not cooperating, I have to wait a few years for that. (which i'm sad about, because I secretly hope that post-op, my hand-eye coordination will improve and i will be a better athlete. heh.) Now, instead he's talking about getting me a GPS system for my car...hmm...which would be nice but I don't think it's worth the value for me at this point.
But whatever...i'm just lucky to have a dad who is going to get me anything for graduation. I'd take a big hug and a pat on the back, and some "i'm proud of you son" or something along those lines. aww.

note the time. it's almost 3 AM, and i'm up because i've been writing a paper. i don't even want to estimate how many pages i've already written in the first 2 weeks and one day of this quarter but let's just say it's a lot more than i wrote all of last quarter.
anyways, i'm starting to get really sleep deprived. meh...

i've been super busy with school because i'm taking 26 hours this quarter ... basically, i made a deal with the devil (the OSU honors department) which allows me to graduate with both my degrees and with honors.
i've been meaning to write about my new quarter but the things i want to write about are the reason that i can't...how much time it takes, how busy i am,etc
it's probably for the best anyways, because how many times do you want to hear a danimal gripe about his classes?? that routine is PLAYED OUT. it's a known fact that i am one for lame excuses. i should work on that.

anyways, the reason for this post is to announce I have a new favorite basketball player (that's right LeBron - you're on notice): Derrick Rose.
putting aside the fact that he choked (worse than tom cruise does every night) in the national championship, I read an article yesterday which said this:

The reason I like him so much now is because I do this too!! all the time! Anything sour, chewy and sweet I will put in my mouth (excludingiamjudygarland's new dildo). But seriously, I often eat so much sour patch and sour straws and air heads that my stomach hurts. It's probably why I can't play basketball.

i just got back from my 5-day trip to florida. i had a good time and i think i made my grandparents really happy but i almost wish i hadn't gone. today was spent running around doing 498723094850293485 things to make sure I graduate with both my degrees in june and with honors.
long story short, i was missing a GEC class, so i have to add another class which fucks me up bc i have to take it now. THEN i had a hold on my account which i had to pay....making me run back and forth across campus all day.
Did i mention i got 4 hours of sleep cuz my plane came in after 1 AM and i got home at 2?
I also still have to get both my poly sci and comm advisors to sign off on my honors contract and get that approved....sdhfalksdhfasudh.

i went to the comm office to get that done but the honors advisor is f'n out on vacation all week! wtf! i waited an hour for the other lady until i was next in line...but then i had to go to class. i was livid!!
so now i get to wake up early tomorrow morning to get that done too.

my honors contract was a mess too, even though my advisor is nice. at first she was giving me attitude but i gave it right back and she backed off. now we love each other. anyways, my contract was a mess so my advisor brought in a nice black lady who didnt speak english and she just put classes in all the empty spots. i dont know if they fit but she's apparently  the swing vote to the boss so i got lucky there.

speaking of not speaking english, two of my professors are very asian. i can already tell my brain is going to hurt from translating all their r's into l's and "visa-versa".

facebook's compare people decides to send me random emails sometimes. apparently my ranks changed from last time. one thing of significance which i may try to keep in mind this quarter:

so I went to espn.com to find out the latest on recruiting since today is signing day. and then i saw this picture and spent 5 minutes wondering why missy elliot was on espn wearing an alabama hat.


 

that's not missy elliot. it's not even a women's basketball recruit! he plays football.

i'm pissed at pryor for not signing today. He said OSU was his choice this morning and waiting only increases the chance he'll go somewhere else. I'm not really convinced we need him or he'll be great, i just dont want any other team to get him.


i took the LSAT on saturday. it went pretty well. i screwed up 1/4 of my best section though and ran out of time while i was frantically discovering my error and fixing it. the two sections I normally don't do so well on went better though. i was more confident in my answers than normal. so it's a toss up. i get my scores in like 3 weeks or something. i'm not sure the date...and i dont really want to know. im sure when they come i'll be like, "oh shit" and i'll take the day off to recover. i kind of want it to be a surprise, like a snow day, but instead of bad weather it'll be bad test scores.

and if they turn out to be good, it'll still be a good day.

OH! also i've decided to wait until next year to apply. which means i'm going to find a job for a year. i have an in at the statehouse already for a legislative aide position. so i'm going to try to get that, hopefully it will work out. if it does it will also mean that I will not be such a poor motherfucker for one year. i hope it works out! for that reason alone.

10:48pm: okay, that's it. im going to make a post again, and my goal is to start posting more often so I don't feel behind. right now I feel like I have 4398759234 things to update on, but I'm going to forget about them all for now and concentrate on the most recent.

my half-marathon training started on monday to the rousing success of not running at all! I got my shit together by tuesday though, with a hill run, followed by a tempo run on thursday, easy run on friday, and a 90 minute run today!! I can't recall the last time I ran so far. Probably one of those nights when i got pissed off while at my ex-bf's apt and drunkenly ran home.

anyways, training has started well. go me go.


in other news, i sent my dad a really, really long email today detailing how I feel about waiting until the fall to apply for law school (early for next year as opposed to late this year).
I'm scared to get his reply. And I'm also scared to check my email, fearing his reply in my inbox. I really hope he's not mad. But I feel like I made my case pretty well.
In terms of actually applying to law school, i'm kind of surprised by how competitive my profile has become. i have a good GPA, double major, good experience...and hopefully, after saturday, a good LSAT score.

speaking of the LSAT, i take it saturday. don't bother me this week! however...
what is going on saturday night?? i am going to want to do something after laying low the past two weeks! if nothing is going on...i might be inclined to host a small-ish, BYOB power hour...before going out to axis or whateverelse.

i'm bored at work. i don't do anything at work except my homework and make fun of my boss, when he's here. why do I need to get an actual job again? this one kicks ass. but the pay is shit.

I am in love with celebrity apprentice. no, i lied. I am in love with omarosa. i haven't seen last night's episode yet (thank you NBC.com!) but she totally should have been fired in the first episode, but instead got the girl who was totally right in the first place fired. and made the rest of her team her personal bitches. 10:47pm: i know it's lame to start an entry off by talking about the weather, but how amazing have the past three days been?
running has been so nice, and my mood has improved 200%.

i dunno if anyone's noticed or not, but i've been pretty depressed over the past month and a half. i got a little worried b/c it was too far past that two-week point to be just a random depression. it felt like i did when i was in high school - chronically depressed.

anyways, the past few days have been MUCH better. i'm back to working out regularly, i'm feeling mentally much better, not so gloomy.
i'm thinking it was a combination of it getting really cold, LOTS of relationship drama, working really hard at the end of november, followed by a month of doing pretty much NOTHING over winter break. i just felt so discouraged and worthless. class started up again though, and surprisingly that has helped.
i'm worried a little that i'll slip back into it when it gets cold again...but hopefully not.

the national championship game last night was once again a huge disappointment. but i'm getting used to it. I was pretty mad and upset for awhile last night. I felt like throwing things. At one point I just layed down on the couch and closed my eyes, thinking "this can't be happening again..."  ...but it was. seriously, this misery has to be unprecented...the list just keeps getting longer. 06 football bucks...07 bball bucks...cavs...destroyers...indians...browns missing playoffs...07 football bucks...
am i missing anything?

well i felt like swearing off all sports but i realized i love them too much. next season...i can't get rid of my optimism. i can't swear off my team...no matter how much they may disappoint. damn...my whole life, i've felt in my heart that it's a championship is going to happen someday for one of my teams. now i'm realizing, that MAY never happen. i dunno how i'm dealing with that.

anyways, campus was gloomy today, not just cuz it was overcast, but it was just way more quiet than normal. No one was wearing their scarlet or gray.
I wore gray, but that was only because I wore gray to bed, lol.

-eddie is having a pre-axis party, his place is always fun 
-adriel is turning 21 and having ppl over to his house before going out to axis
-ken is having a party, his pride party was super classy...but im not going to this one because: 
         a) i wasnt invited
         b) i fell down the stairs at the aforementioned pride party, in front of everyone...yeah i was a mess
         c) scott will be there and i'm sure he doesnt want me to show up


also, the situation is further complicated by the fact that im not drinking tonight, because I'm "working" tomorrow from 8-4. I have to be up at 7 AM! ugh. :(

I decided to stay in last night. It was pretty nice, until I decided to take some expired cough medicine for my sore throat right before bed and ended up NOT BEING ABLE TO SLEEP FOR SIX HOURS. then when i finally did wake up, my legs and arms were all uncomfortable-tingly. the whole episode was horrible, lesson learned. no expired cough syrup. EVAR!!

what else...im planning on heading home to medina on monday or tuesday, contemplating coming back for next weekend for the parties that are going on and cuz im sure medina is going to be boring. also...one the first of the year hits im pretty much dunzo for partying for awhile,  like 4 months, for training. ugh! 4 months is so long, but the payoff should be worth it.
