So, it appears my attempts to leave the band aren't so final after all...
After declaring that I quit over a month ago, my original plan had been to finish out the gigs we already had scheduled. This idea was agreed upon amicably by the rest of the band. For those who have been keeping up, a few days later I was told by Dave (the guitarist) that Gary (the bassist) had found another singer (who also plays guitar) and that my obligation to the last 4 gigs already scheduled was no longer necessary.
That was fine. I believe I mentioned all this in a previous entry. In the meantime, I've been spending more time with my wife, friends, focusing more on Draconia, and enjoying "me" time (The new Incredible Hulk game for the PS2 is awesome! It's like Grand Theft Auto, but with the Incredible Hulk.).
Well, sometime after I got back from San Diego, Dave calls me again. Turns out that although the new singer is decent, they apparently still need me. One reason is due to the fact that the new guy is having a hard time learning all of the songs. Another is that he doesn't do so well on the modern songs, just the classic stuff. And there's the fact that Dave wants me back.
Bottom line is, Dave talked to the band and they want to try to keep me and the new singer and have us split singing duties. I just wanna be done with it.
Needless to say, I did agree to singing in the gig this Saturday night at Hoss's (Yes, we got invited back to Hoss's!). My reason for agreeing to this is simple: my parents are coming down this weekend and they have never seen me perform live with the band. They really want to. So, I'm back into the fold this week, going to practice, blah blah blah. Dave seems to think that this is a sign that I'm back, but I keep reminding him that I'm not. I'm just doing this one gig. I don't think he or the band is getting the message, though.
Either way, I'm playing at Hoss's with the band this Saturday night. My parents will be there. Hopefully that will be it.
Coming up next: David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, and I go on tour.
