| It was said a lot on Saturday, but it bears repeting:
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR AN AMAZING PARTY
Saturday's hafla was about the 3rd best party I've ever thrown (and the other two were so long ago that, honestly, it's the bygone emotions that keep them ranked so high), and it couldn't have been done with all the help we got.
From the amazing bellydances to the wonderful crowd to everyone who brought food or cheered or ate food or hung out and talked - THANK YOU!
We had so much great food, there was so much good conversation, there was elegant, candle-lit dinner in the back yard, there was fire dancing, there was mayhem, there was GOOD TIMES.
I cannot express enough how happy the whole thing made me feel. again - thank you all! | comments: 2 comments/Leave a comment |

| it took four years, but it happened: i missed my exit going to work this morning.
the combination of listening to acid jazz (the associates to be exact), fantasizing about knocking down walls in our house, and drooling over a early-80s Jag in front of me just proved to be too much for my attention, and all of a sudden, there goes rt 70! | comments: 1 comment/Leave a comment |

| Been running again, or at least bouts of jogging whilst walking. Been good for the heart, legs, mind, blood, soul.
Been sad about not posting much; been thinking about why that is.
Came up with a plan - High/Low. Something good that's happened or is happening, and something bad, or less that desirable, etc. helps me express to all what is up with tim.
for instance: High: I've been made the shop manager (ie, the one in charge) for MBC Columbia Repro, which is what I've been doing anyway for the last 3 months. Low: I was given this position because the old manager (my boss) fell extremely ill due to a intestinal disorder that nearly killed him, and has put him out of commission for months. All this happened as he turned 30.
High: I've managed to be exercising three consecutive weeks. Low: I took about 3 months off.
High: Baby's coming in no time. Low: BABY'S COMING IN NO TIME!!! | comments: 2 comments/Leave a comment |

| Hello all.
In an effort to have more pictures online w/o paying for them, I have decided to try Picasa, which is rolled up into the whole gmail/googledocs thing. I'll be uploading most new pictures there. the address is:
picasaweb.google.com/dj.domestique
Right now, you can see that fun I've had with a giant slug, found attacking the cats food dish, and even more fun with Brooke and josh at Pikesville's very own yearly summer block party, Dancin' In the Streets. | comments: 2 comments/Leave a comment |

12 Bags hardwood mulch Watering Wand Weed-stop fabric fabric staples Weed-Hog weeder
$85
the front of the house has been weeded and mulched and I've rarely been prouder. The weeder thinger is an amazing device that gets rid of dandylion and ragweed and any other weed/plant by stomping on it, then pulling it out. it's amazingly relaxing and fun to use, and was worth its price after 20 minutes. | comments: 2 comments/Leave a comment |

Osborne, Osborne The Cat Empire, So Many Nights Jamie Lidell, Jim The Sword, Gods of the Earth
$40
Jamie and the Sword released albums that were straight and direct follow ups to their respective debut albums: more blue-eyed soul and throwback r&b for mr. lidell, more stoner dungeons & dragons metal without screaming for the Sword. I wanted exactly what I got from both of them, they did exactly what I wanted.
The Cat Empire is only slightly bellydancey, only slightly reggae, a little country-noir, and mostly a adult-contemporary rock album, albeit in a non-american sense. Brooke says she reminds her of Maroon 5, and I'm not sure if that's accurate, or an insult. The album is growing on me, especially in the lyric department, which is an excellent place to start.
Osborne made, nearly, the only electronic album I need for the year. going everywhere from squelchy acid to gorgeous deep house with some afro-beat big house and disco-tinged classics, osborne does a lot of house, and a lot of it well. | comments: 2 comments/Leave a comment |

| finished Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising series, consisting of:
Greenwitch
The Grey King
Silver on the Tree
Over all impression of the series: about halfway through the books, Cooper became obsessed with Welsh myth, history, and culture, and leaned on it heavily, after also leaning on Arthurian Legend and Cornwall history and Ancient English Druidic mythology. Also, it's a little sad that a woman can consistantly write such a weak female character, though that may be more a sign of the times (mid 70s) and young adult book culture - what girls are gonna read magic fantasy, anyways?
She kind of botched the ending, but much less so that Philip Pullman.
Again, if you liked harry Potter and want to read some obvious influences for JK Rowling, hit these five books up. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Beezers N Timmers went downy oshun, hon!
Wednesday is Brooke and I's 3rd Anniversary (hooray!) and so we had ourselves a nice date-day full of fun activites that people in love like to do. We had long-ago determined to go eat crabs, so it was just a matter of finding where to eat 'em. Brooke's coworkers came up with Cantler's Riverside Inn in Annapolis, and since we were going to be down by the bay, we decided to head first to Sandy Point Beach for an afternoon of beach swimming and beach laying and tanning and reading.
Cantler's was really crowded, but a worthwhile trip - a nice lazy 2 hours spent picking crabs, drinking beers, eating fries, and just enjoying being outside. We wanted to finish the night with a viewing of Indiana Jones, but it wasn't playing at the right times, so it was back home for more late-night eating and resting. Hooray anniversaries! | comments: 2 comments/Leave a comment |
