07:34 pm - Processing... MORE...

The following are the results from tweaking the program I presented in my last entry. I decided to see what happens when I got rid of the lines, and just let the circles fill the screen. I was pleasantly surprised!! As you can tell, I made minor changes to the code and got many, many different results. The following are a select few:

10:55 pm - Processing...

My first few visual works generated entirely through code, in the Processing language. All are randomly generated from the same code (though with some obvious slight tweaks.) The heart of the code is an iteration that randomly selects a point on the screen and draws a line. Each drawn line extends until it hits the edge of the screen, or hits another line. This repeats for anywhere between 24,000 and 30,000 times.

And in the case of the fourth one... I have it draw a cirle where ever it crashes into another line.

Also a couple screen shots from my increasingly complex artificial life simulation. Though, the pictures aren't much to look at, the real entertainment is seeing them in motion. Swimming around, latching onto food and humping each other...

11:24 pm - Attack in Portland...

A member of our community in Portland was viciously attacked on his way home from the club by two dipshits. They apparently were harassing him, calling him a "fag" before the assault. The incident occurred just outside his home. He suffered significant head trauma, and ended up at the hospital with a concussion. Some people/person came to his aid, but the attackers are still roaming the streets.

I am deeply disturbed by this. Despite my relocation I still consider Portland home, and the community that resides there, my family.

I threw together a website tonight to put the information out there and to collect donations towards his medical costs: healportland.com

From what I can gather from the flurry of LJ posts and mass emails, there is already an outreach to the community at large, and to the media to hopefully get some leads on who these fuckers were who did this.

10:23 pm - Disassemblance and Adsense...

Hrmmmm... seems I got kicked out of Google's Adsense program for "invalid clicking." I have no idea what that means. I can only assume that it was due to the fact the person someone got a little too zealous with the clicks.

Oh well... I made a few hundred bucks from it. I could appeal, but I had planned to take those stupid things off Dis once I got it back up and running. They just saved me the trouble of having to fudge with the code now...

11:38 pm - SHELTER!!

YAY!! Finally made it out to my first gothy night, last night, since moving to Boston-ish: Shelter.

Very, very, very much fun!! :)

I should have given more notice so I could have planned to meet up with people, but, meh... it seems to be the plan to make it out, somewhere, every week. So... WOOT!

07:12 pm - Abstract Strategy

Something for the to do list...

Perhaps it was [info]jenaflynn's suggestion of having a "Baking and Board Game" night, but my brain has swung back to the realm of abstract strategy games, more specifically the dozen or so I have invented.

In the past I've created animations to demonstrate how my games are played. Now that I have the skillzzz with 3D modeling/animation, I'm now pondering modeling virtual prototypes for my games and perhaps creating animations of sample games being played out.

Of course, when I will find the time to do this, is an entirely different matter.

I'm really proud of my games and know that I will see all of them materialize. I always figured I'd get around to actually making physical versions of them when I'm too old to do anything but whittle.

06:28 pm - Pure Vanity... New Hair cut...

This post is pure vanity. I just really need that sort of moment right now. Something to make me feel cute. An ego/confidence boost in this time of crappy weirdness.

I cut my hair the other day. My hair has been totally asymmetrical since that faithful day when I got one side of my hair caught in a rotary tool and had to cut myself free. The extremely uneven sides have been annoying me. As well... I've wanted to do something with the sides around my face for quite sometime. I had considered cutting my bangs REALLY wide, like I used to, but I've done that already so wanted something a little different. So, on a whim, I cut both sides short -- longer than my fringe, but much shorter than the rest of my hair. At first I didn't like it as my hair is wavy, and at short lengths gets a very strong natural curl. However, it's starting to grow on me. With my hair back it can look very "danish boy" ([info]klemrev said I look like a flapper) but I kinda of like how it curls around and frames my eyes. I may let it grow longer and see how it will look just a smidge beyond my jaw line.

Anyways... enough rambling... some pics.

The first is from the other night shortly after I did it... the rest are from today.

OH! Almost forgot... I didn't actually pierce my lip. I just put a dummy ring in so I can get used to having metal there and decide if I want a piercing there or not. Let me know how it looks on me!!

I may also get two rings, instead -- one on each side.

01:10 am - Disassemblance...

[info]jenaflynn had coffee with someone today who (without having any connections to me) had actually heard of Disassemblance. That re-realization of just how many people the comic reached, got to me. It occurred to me that it has been more than three months since I did a strip. I went back and read few the last dozen or so I had done. And for the first time I felt a strong desire to draw Ethan again.

It comes as no big surprise, I suppose. Given everything that is going on in my life. The existential re-boot, and now, having to change up everything again so soon has put me in a dark state... this would be the time that Ethan should be returning to my life.

However, I just don't have the strength to start it all back up again.

Maybe I will try to just do a comic a week.

I can't let Ethan die.

09:05 pm - After Midnight Blue...

I currently have a little Manic Panic After Midnight Blue soaking into my hair.

My hair was desperately in need of being redyed. I have been doing a blue black, mainstream sort of hair dye for quite sometime, but now my auburn roots are growing in. But I wanted something a LITTLE more striking, but not so striking as to potentially be a problem with work. So as per [info]nopeeps4u's suggestion, I didn't bother bleaching, but applied the color. I did some Googling and found that w/o bleaching, it's good to leave the dye in for a few hours... if not overnight.

I'm hoping it will produce black hair with a few dark blue highlights. If the results are less than stellar, I can always just dye it straight up black again -- no harm, no foul.

I will post pics of the results.

Anyone catch the War Machine reference? :)

One of the better Marvel Movies thus far.

11:07 pm - Goth persecution..

Goth clothes 'prompted killing'

A 15-year-old boy kicked and stamped to death a woman because she was dressed as a Goth, a court heard.

The drunk teenager was among a gang of five who "savagely and mercilessly" attacked Sophie Lancaster, 20, and her boyfriend, Preston Crown Court heard.

Miss Lancaster was begging the gang to stop beating Robert Maltby, 21, when they turned on her in Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Lancashire, the jury was told.

Teens Get Life for Killing 'Goth' Woman

I'm at a loss for words... It just makes me sick. :(

10:09 pm - HOT!!

It's like 80 out!

And I'm sweating like crazy in my tiny "Tim Burton room."

I think I need to get myself a fan or something!

I didn't think I'd need one so soon.

06:05 pm - Disassemblance...

So apparently, the way to get MORE fan mail is to STOP doing your webcomic. ;)

Seriously though, thank you to everyone for the kind words, once things settled down in my life I hope to bring Disassemblance back. The move is almost complete, and once things stabilize in my life I am going to have time again to work on creative ventures.

Thank you again! :)

10:31 pm - Beyond White Castle...

Harold and Kumar Escape Guantanamo Bay

We all knew there was going to be a sequel... but this seems a little far-fetched. However, I'm almost assuredly going to see it. Because, despite being a rather sober lass, I love a good, zany slacker/stoner flick. I've practically worn out my copy of Half Baked.

Between this and my love for sci-fi, super hero and vampire flicks, one can only conclude that I have the worst taste in movies, ever.

02:50 am - The DOM Depot

I've been meaning to make this icon for a while now. To be used in all my entries concerning BDSM accessory/toy creation. Because, dammit, there is no better place to buy bondage accessories than The Home Depot.

I mean, who DOESN'T get turned on when they walk by the aisle with the rope and chains? Ever take a closer look in those hardware bins? Carabiners, o-rings, d-rings, locks, clamps...

I sometimes meander through that store just dreaming up all sorts of horrible things to create.

06:05 pm - 3DS MAX -- Glas, Fire, Smoke...

My first attempt at rendering glass in 3DS MAX. As well, a few different fire and smoke effects. I wanted the glass ball to ignite very slowly, but it sort of ignites fast and then the flame grows slowly. Haven't quite figured out how to get exactly what I envisioned. But other, this test was not a disappointment.

You need to watch the video fullscreen, or else YouTube makes it look squished. Apparently they don't like portrait orientated videos.

ENJOY!

08:48 pm - My life: entertainment...

My harrowing tale about the police officer losing my license (friend's only entry) on a dark and windy highway was retold in a recent episode of the podcast Trans-ponder. (Episode #40 to be specific). The noir-ish radio theater is performed by [info]genopunk and [info]jaynatopia.

The story is towards the end, but I highly recommend you listen to the whole podcast. These two are most entertaining and share a lot about their own experiences being transgendered. I always appreciate when transfolk are so upfront about who they are and are willing to share their thoughts and experiences.

07:33 pm - BLACK SUN!!

We only made it down for one night, but [info]klemrev and I had a blast. FINALLY, I got to experience a little bit of Black Sun. Though next time, I want to get a hotel room in the heart of the action, and spend the entire weekend. Not to mention, getting REALLY dressed up!

Good times. :)

01:18 am - 3ds max... more fire play...

Here is a much better (and slightly longer) demonstration of my attempts to learn doing fire FX in 3ds Max. This would be the first time I really animated a character-thingy, and made said character a very pretty chrome! ;D

The roboty thing does an awkward head nod thing towards the end. My intention was that he was going to SLOWLY cock his head to one side for that "intently focused" look. But I didn't allow enough space between keyframes and BLAH.

Oh well...
