5:38 pm - final words...
We have been back in Australia for two nights now, and i haven't really seen the other guys as we have all been resting, emotionally it has been weird for me, I have seen so much of the world in a short time and then had to come home to reality, I'm sure all these new experiences will sink in, but at the moment I miss being on tour so much! it is strange, but being in new places and playing music everyday is an amazing experience and I don't think it is something someone would fully understand unless they did it. throughout this tour I have experienced many highs and lows, I'd like to think the highs outway the lows! dealing with people and everyones different moods, habbits and emotions can really help you grow as a person i think, I'm lucky in the respect that I have met some of the greatest people on this tour but unlucky that I live so far away I won't see them all for sometime! Doing this tour has changed my outlook on what life is about and I cant wait to record, get a new album out and get my arse back on the road again! big thanks go out to the guys from The Prophecy, Swallow the Sun, all the other bands we played with, all the promoters and all the people that came to the shows! Big thanks to all that became my good friends and made the trip special for me, you know who you are and i miss you all! On this note the tour diary ends until next year, thanks to all those that have read my words, hope you enjoyed, it was a great way for me to keep touch with reality and my mind while on the road. anyway all the best, time to work on the new album!

Cheers

5:27 pm - finland
this was a great few days for me and the rest of the guys, finland is a very beautiful place with some of the nicest people! the show was great, one of our more energetic performances, not to mention awsome support in the shape of machette and the amazing swallow the sun. swallow the sun are fantastic live and are also great guys! needless to say we went out drinking with them and had an awsome time! can't wait to play with you guys again soon! we made some great friends in finland and it was hard to leave, on our last day two of our new friends took us to a cabin at a lake where we all had a sauna, drank beer, jumped in the freezing lake and went back in the sauna, the pictuers from this day may not make there way to the net as our bare arses need to remain unseen! thanks go out to everyone we met in finland we love you and miss you all! the plane trip home was painful, 30 hours thanks to quantas doing a last minute stop over in adelaide, fuckers! mixed emotions about beening home, but life goes on I guess! set: a cruel misfortune, rememberance scars, down, the sombre light of isolation, crimson sacrifice, the eternal, everlasting, black serenity, all hope lost & last embrace.

6:46 pm - whitesnake
a special entry because the whitesnake show kicked arse! coverdale gives all the young guys a serious run for there money!!!! opening with with a few deep purple songs, burn and storm bringer, the crowd went crazy! they then proceeded to play all the classics and do it with so much class i was in shock! this is one of the best rock gigs i have been to! entertaining start to finish! hats off to coverdale! crying in the rain, still of the night and many others made this gig something special, plus seeing it in the UK was really cool!

1:15 pm - bradford
the bradford show was a lil strange, maybe because we all new it was our last show together, but none the less enjoyable, I must admit it was a lil bit distracting having 4 members of my dying bride in the audience, while i was playing i was hoping they didnt think we sucked! met some really cool people and did well on the merch, even aaron from MDB picked up some hotpants for his missus! hehe it's hard to sit here now and think that it is over, we fly to finland tommorrow morning for our final show in finland but as for the eternal and the prophecy doominating things together is has come to an end! we played; the sombre light of isolation, the eternal, down, a cruel misfortune, everlasting & all hope lost. Tonight should be fun as a few of us are off to see whitesnake at st georges hall in bradford '...are you ready to rock? children of the night...'

12:02 pm - london
the londan show on thursday was cool, due to pubs here closing at 11pm we where restricted in our set time to something like 40 minutes, we played; a cruel misfortune, the eternal, down, the sombre light of isolation, then we got darren white up to do a few songs with us, rememberance scars (which daz had not heard since he recorded it as he had been abroad) and a drunken version of sleepless for some fun which everyone enjoyed, one downer was a few minutes after we begain remembrance scars, i broke my A string and was not able to change it so i improvised a lil, I think i made it but what a bummer, was great to see daz and as usual he is a great performer, it had been just over a year since he was in australia and I hope to see him again soon! I have been relaxing for a day in dewsbury at Christians house, we have the last doomination show with the prophecy tonight in bradford before we head to finland, im sure it will be an emotional gig for us all. Also went to canden market in london and got some cool t-shirts, at least i got to see a lil more than the venue. We have also finished traveling in the cargo van which was like my home for three weeks, kind of got used to seeing europe through that windscreen and on many occasions sleeping on top of the guitars in the back, oh well all experiences must come to an end so im going to make sure i enjoy the next few days in the UK and finland. I Will hopefully report back about the bradford show very soon! see some of you in australia at the end of next week! :)

8:37 pm - portugal
the first show in portugal was weird, it was the highest stage i have ever played on and at times it was hard to balance, the stage was on top of the bar, so you could see people up stairs and look down at the others on the floor, staff were great, the show generally went down well and our performances are getting better, the last show in portugal was awsome, it was in porto at a venue called the hard club, this is the best venue we have ever played at, with bands like fear factory and paradise lost playing there previously it was very cool, stage and venue where stunning and i am glad we managed to get this show on video as the light show was killer, once again nice to see some fans singing the words, always a blast, i will have photos and video of this show online sometime as it was just so visually cool, next show in spain was cancelled as was france so now we head for the UK for the london show, days off are always frustrating as we just get going and have to wait for another show, we are in france now, oh I should also mention that last night we didnt make it to the hotel and ended up in a car park with about 4 cop cars around us and 8 cops, this was about five in the morning and was very weird, having the cops take our passports and flashing lights in our eyes, very rock and roll, in the end they left us be which was good as a spannish prision didnt seem inviting even thought i could have used the bed... will be in the uk thursday morning...

8:25 pm - spain
after a few more days off in the south of france we hit spain and barcelona, mephisto was a cool venue and by this stage i knew we where getting better because the set had alot more energy, trying to get to the hostel after was a nightmare due to all the one way streets so a few stayed, but myself, chris and christian head for the motorway as we where concerned about leaving the gear in the van, the next day we head for madrid which was my fav show in spain, played a good set and met some really cool people, its also good to see people knowing the words to tunes as well, infact chris and myself went out to a club after the show with our new friends and had a really good time, unfotunatly it was cut short and we had to hit the road like in every song ever written about touring, we are the road crew...

4:48 pm - hungary, italy...
the show in budapest was ok, but there was not a huge turn out, by this time most of the eternal where sick and burning up with fever, so it was hard to sing and play with a lot of energy! the second show in szeged was alot better but i was at the peek of my sickness and went down pretty bad after the show, this was my fav place in hungary as it was stunning, its just a shame that i could not really cut loose and have a good time in hungary, the drive to the third hungarian show in pecs was great with lots of little villages, the last show itself was ok but there where to many skinhead types for my liking, straight after the show we head to italy which has been great! It may be the sun but we are all getting well and should be 100 percent for the next show. although the eternal where not able to play on the Italian show due to label politics, i got up and sang with the prophecy, i did duel vocals with matt lawson on one of there songs 'willow', the crowd was really friendly and we still managed to sell a few cd's! today we are in genova which is kind of on the south/west of italy i think, we have a few days off before we begin the second leg of the tour, it is great to be in genova for me as my grandfather is from here so i get abit of family history while im here, while looking out to the mediterranian sea! we are off to the south of france tonight and will relax for a few more days before playing barcelona on thursday! Be ready spain, for we are ready to doominate!!!

4:03 pm - belgium-germany-welcome to budapest...
the belgium show was ok, I think both bands where a bit warn from the big night in holland, frontline is a very small but a kinda cool venue, It was also great to get a bed each after this show as we had slept in the venues for a few nights, needless to say when we all got beds we where asleep in minutes. we played a fairly long set as well, a cruel misfortune, the eternal, down, the sombre light of isolation, black serenity, remembrance scars, all hope lost everlasting...

it was a long trip to germany, this is when i first noticed i was getting sick, with what ever james and chris have, fever and aches with a nasty coff, I drugged my self with as much medication as i could and made it through the show fine, although the 12 hour drive to budapest and no bed for a few days has takin its toll and im hoping to get some more medication to make it though tonights show, but ill come back to that, first germany, great venue, the titanic club, we where concerned about the turn out, but in the end this turned out great, both bands sold heaps of merch and some fuel money did not go astray, also worth a mention that i think so far this show was the best performance from both bands. our set was, the sombre light of isolation, the eternal, down, a cruel misfortune, everlasting, last embrace and all hope lost...

straight after the german show we set off for hungary, chris, myself and christian from the prophecy in the cargo van, this is mostly cos the travel van smells like piss, but that is another story...we forgot to pay road tax in austria - mostly cos there is no signs in english - and we where hit with a nasty 12รถ euro fine per van, this was really shit as you can imagine...but none the less we still made it to budapest this morning, this was the only place we needed passports and in the end we where lucky we got in. budapest is pretty cool so far and im feeling very sick and need to go to the chemist i think before we get into sound check, will check back in soon...until next time...

4:36 pm - Holland
we had a great time last night in holland, the show went really well for both bands and the crowd was resposive and alot larger than the first night, we had unlimited free beer which we took advantage of, holland is very flat but still beautiful, i was lucky enought even ride a dutch bike around holland late at night, this something that will stick with me as this is a very dutch thing to do and after a night of doom metal this was a very peacful thing to do... we played, the sombre light, the eternal, down, a cruel misfortune, everlasting and all hope lost.

The promoter emelio is on the road with us for three days and seems to be having a great time as well, he is from holland and is a real nice guy, christian from the prophecy and myself also indulged in some other dutch culture at a coffee shop called check point where we stocked up on our greens, this was also very interesting... we have now purchased some two way radios which are giving us some amusment when we are driving... in belgium at frontline sound checking so i must go, cheers mark

4:29 pm - luxemburg
I just wrote a huge update and this stupid computer just fucked it so i have to start again on limited time, luxemburg was great and a good warm up, it was also the first time that both bands got to see each other live, i found after this show that both bands became closer and we have been having a great time, it was not a huge crowd, but very receptive, luxemburg is like a postcard, very beautiful, we played in a small town which seemed very conservitive until we arrived at the small fetish club we where playing at, very strange indeed, we played most of the sombre light album except couldnt sqeeze in all hope lost due to time contrictions.

Havent had much of a chance to see stuff, we are trying to get a lil rest but are excited about our first european show tonight! 8:57 pm - Finland Press day & UK...
Had a great day in Finland today Chris and myself did about 4 interviews, 2 mags & 2 radio, really beautiful place full of beautiful people! Jari was great and he drove us to all the interviews and what not, I love Finland and cant wait to get back there next month to do the show, we also checked out the venue and it was cool to know that people like Jimi Hendrix & Dio have played there! Rock n' Roll, it was weaird thinking that we where basically at the top of the world today when we are all the way from the bottom! Was like a strange dream of sorts, or maybe it is the jet lag... also had some finnish beer which translated to 'bear beer' was nice and cant wait to have more with everyone next month! We where only there for about eight hours and then we had to fly t the UK to start Doomination, still getting used to Enland and the customs folks where cunts to be blunt, maybe they just need to get laid and stop picking in non english speaking tourists etc... Matt from The Prophecy picked us up and he seems like a nice lad so I'm looking forward to heading to Holland tomorrow night, driving to Luxemburg and playing the first doomination show! James seems to be getting better, I am having problems with my throat which seem to be hanging around, so Im hoping I can get that cleared up, over all it has been a strange few days, Hong Kong, Finland & the UK in a very short time, I'm still trying to work out what day it is :) I think once we all get a good rest tonight we will be ready for what is ahead, better go find some food and sleep, will update again soon, thanks again to Jari, it was great to meet you and you did a great job of organising us today! see you back in Finland on the 18th of October! cheers for now! M.

7:49 pm - Hong Hong Pt. 2
Hong Kong was great! we are at the airport on the way to waiting to board the plane to finland! The show was amazing, the fans here have been great! I was overwhelemed with the response! I have not really experienced anything like the way they acted infact, so I really appreciate the experience, Soni from Trinity Records has been great and really looked after us, so thanks go out to him in a big way, James has come down with a cold/flu type thing so I hope he feels better soon as we have a long flight ahead! Hong Kong as a place is really cool, not as westernized as I expected, and overall my experience was a very peaceful one and we have meet many great people! we played a nice long set, consisting of the whole album as well as, Last Embrace, Everlasting & we jamed Sleepless for some fun! My thanks go out to everyone we met in Hong Kong, you are great and we cant wait to see you all again! Feeling very tired so I might go find some food before we head off to Finland for some press, and then later in the day we will head off to the UK and meet up with The Prophecy to start the Doomination of Europe! Hope to have an update for you all again soon! Cheers Mark

5:34 pm - Hong Kong!
We are in Hong Kong!!! It is really cool here, we are about to play in a few hours, amazingly humid here! We are very sweaty men dressed in black!!! The people here are great and we are getting a warm reception! We got in about 8 this morning and found that we could buy beer at the 7-11 for about 2 Australian dollars, so that is basically what we have been doing! the humidity just makes you wanna drink beer! It will be good because we get to stay here for a few days after the show so we can relax a little before heading to Finland then the UK for 'Doomination of Europe' next week! I will try and do another update before we leave Hong Kong & give you guys the details about the show!!! Cheers!

12:10 pm - Australian Tour 2004...Hong Kong Next...
This is the first entry in our tour journal and most likely the last before our shows in Hong Kong & Europe. We will be using this journal as a way to keep our friends, families & fans updated when we head overseas next week, so I suggest you check back soon as we hope to update this with the latest tour news as much as possible, so hopefully my next post will be from Hong Kong! I thought a good way to start this journal would be with a brief summary of the Australian tour. I will start with the shows in order.

23 July, Friday, Canberra : Rock Ape w/ Mytile Vey Lorth & others.
Matt (our new live guitarist) had been in the country for a day with one rehearsal but I must say performance wise I was happy and it was a good start to the tour, unfortunately we were on very late (about 2am even though we were told 12am), so by the time we played the crowd was mostly drunk or passed out! None the less this was a good warm up show for what followed. Setlist: The Sombre Light of Isolation, The Eternal, Down, A Cruel Misfortune, Last Embrace & All Hope Lost.

01 August, Sunday, Adelaide : The Crown and Anchor w/ Chalice & others.
This was a great show & we had a really good time! Performance wise I felt we really locked in and gave the crowd something special, my only regret was that we didn't have a longer set, it was great to catch up with friends we have made in adelaide as well, it was just a good vibe, this show would be in our top three for the aussie tour! This was also the first time we performed Everlasting which will be featured on the next album, and I'm pleased to say it went down very well. Setlist: The Sombre Light of Isolation, The Eternal, Down, A Cruel Misfortune, Everlasting & All Hope Lost.

06 August, Friday, Melbourne : The Esplanade Hotel, St. Kilda w/ Alpha State, & others.
This was an important show for us, being our only home town show on the tour, we went all out organising a new back drop and a really cool light show, which took a little bit of preparation to say the least! (Thanks to Pheelix our trusty road guy for being the lighting guy at this show, he always proves to be diverse, driving us through the night, looking after the merch or painting back drops, nice work bro, don't think we could do it without you!). Due to one of the support bands (who shall remain nameless) going over their set time, we went on fairly late, but I'm still pleased to say that the home crowd was there for us, in fact this was the best turn out of the tour, which shows that the weeks of press we did for this tour where not totally in vein! We did an hour plus set and the audience response was great, so thanks to all those that came out and showed your support! As a band, by this stage having Matt on guitar was working out well and I would say we were in good form this night! It is worth noting that some folks from Adelaide enjoyed the show so much the week before that they showed up, which was amazing! What amazed the me the most was when Sam & Rowan, my dear friends from Virgin Black showed up, this really topped it all off and made the night very special indeed! This would be the best show of the tour in my opinion. Also if you are interested go to http://www.the-eternal.com to see the video footage and photo's from this show. Setlist: A Cruel Misfortune, The Eternal, Down, The Sombre Light of Isolation, Black Serenity, Crimson Sacrifice, Remembrance Scars, All Hope Lost & Everlasting.

13 August, Friday, Warrnambool : The Criterion Hotel w/ Interstater & Dung.
We were not sure how this show was going to go at first but it went well, a few fans made there way up from Melbourne which was encouraging, needless to say being in country Victoria we took this opportunity to all get very drunk (except Matt who doesn't drink), Dung were also very entertaining. This show was a good example of how the band could pull through even if the situation didn't appear to be ideal. Doom on Warny! Setlist: The Sombre Light of Isolation, The Eternal, Down, A Cruel Misfortune, Remembrance Scars, Everlasting & All Hope Lost.

14 August, Saturday, Adelaide : The Territorian Hotel w/ Raven Black Night & ...Of The Human Condition
This was the strangest show on the tour, it was like playing in someones lounge room, no stage, nothing! Support bands where great, and although I enjoyed the show maybe it was to intimate in some ways, but what can you do, its all Rock n' Roll. Setlist: A Cruel Misfortune, The Eternal, Down, The Sombre Light of Isolation, Black Serenity, Crimson Sacrifice, Remembrance Scars, All Hope Lost, Last Embrace & Everlasting.

25 August, Wendesday, Melbourne : Live on PBS Radio
I know this isn't really a gig, but it is note worthy, this was our first 'live to air' performance & we had a great time, hopefully I will get a copy of this soon so that I may share some mp3's of the event. Thanks to Kenny Lightfoot for having us play on his show, this is definantly a good way to doom the masses! Setlist: A Cruel Misfortune, The Eternal, Down & The Sombre Light of Isolation.

04 September, Saturday, Sydney : The Harp Hotel, Tempe w/ Lycanthia and Spawn
This was more like a party than a gig, old friends & alot of beer! We had a great time at this show, and although the crowd was not huge, they were responsive (and drunk), it was a nice way to end the tour. A few guys from Stone Wings decided they would join the band on stage and proceed to pour beer down our throats, lovely lads! :) Also thanks to all in Lycanthia, you guys rock! Thanks also go out to Metal Dave! Doom on! Setlist: A Cruel Misfortune, The Eternal, Down, The Sombre Light of Isolation, Black Serenity, Crimson Sacrifice, Remembrance Scars, All Hope Lost, & Last Embrace.

Next stop will be Hong Kong next weekend, before we head to Europe for about 20 shows, for more tour info go to: http://clik.to/doomination

Expect the next update in Hong Kong late next week!

Cheers,

Mark - The Eternal
