So funny story about this cake. Originally the florist was supposed to leave me small roses to put around the top of the cake topper. But when I got there all that was left for me were those large ones you see in the photo. The event coordinator who helped me place the cake handed them to me, gave me a "I dont know" look and said "good luck" But this is what I ended up with. I think it was the right choice to change the design rather than stick with the original one.

I particularly enjoyed delivering this cake because it was delivered to a state park where I got to drive all the roads you arent supposed to drive on.
And driving on things you arent supposed to drive on, makes me happy.

This was Maria's very first cake. And it was a doozy.
It was a super hot day and this cake had to be transported up to Napa. I made poor Maria sit in the back and hold a dowel I had shoved into the top so that it wouldnt tip over while driving. It was a very harrowing experience Im sure.
The hard part for me was having to carry that thing over about 50 feet of grass and down a little stone path without shaking it too much otherwise that cake was going to crack more than it already did.
Luckily we came prepared and Maria and I spent about 30 minutes placing hydrangeas and butterflies in strategic locations.
And yes, that is a real fondant ribbon you see on those slanted cakes between the tiers with the lattice work borders and leaf decor.

I caught the bride in this one. had I waited a few seconds, I would have caught her making a huge chompy face next to the cake.

Side note - I had to go here twice because I forgot the flower wreath at the base of the cake the first time. Whoo! Go me.

Quick side note, this one actually melted and had to be repaired on site by my mother. Yay.
