Enjoying the silence
MonkeyMonkey went with his momma to a dentist appointment. This gives me time to relax a bit, thumb through some email, get my morning coffee, and eventually hit the shower.

I really need to find someone to keep him entertained for a few hours during the day, so I can get stuff done. Ah well, at least I'm getting quality time in with my boy. That's always a very good thing.

No matter how you slice it, the Winnie is gonna need some work done. New windshield, speedometer, battery isolator and power inverter. Gotta come up with the money for a deep-cycle marine battery to run the fridge off of. Surprisingly, the thing is geared for RV use, and only eats about 60 watts. Not too shabby for a refrigerator. Gotta replace the skirt around the pop-up, and some accessory lights, and we're back in business.

Oh, and it would be grand to find a small trailer to haul stuff without packing up the Winnie to the roof. ;-)

I need to look into repairing the headphone jack on my laptop. Without it, I can't run monitors out from my MP3Jing software. That means no beatmixing. I *did* figure out a way to do it, but it requires using TWO audio devices through the USB splitter. That might be a dicey proposition. I'm a little wary of disassembling my laptop, since there's always factory wires that don't go back without the proprietary weird tool. We'll see.

Having a hard time coming up with fun events for Ground Control. I can't really lobby for drink specials until we get more people in the doors. Guest DJs are out of the question, since Chris really doesn't even get to DJ much. Anyone got any bright ideas?

I appreciate the thought, Sir. But I have to say, as much as I enjoy playing music and look forward to it, I would step down for a night or two if you thought bringing in a guest DJ would bring in more people. I know my name doesn't carry much weight in the grand scheme of things. It's all about padding that pocket a little and making the night successful, right?

I say "borrow" old KF ideas (Hey! We were there! We can if anyone can). Gambling nights and what not. I don't know.

Keep trying to have the regulars bring in someone new via words of mouth.

Maybe place a form of "Don't see it to sing it"for songs that people would love to sing to but it's not available. This will give you a bit of a pluse point of the group and new people and what they are looking for.

Me yeah I love gothic/punk/industrial but I don't know much. I'm a 80's girl I like to stick to that.

I don't think gimicks, games, and raffles should be involved. If I'm going out to sing Karoke then that's what I'm want to do.

It's going to take time to slowly build a name and following. Make a longer term plan if possiable such as not just how to pack the place next monday but how to pack the place in 3 months from now.

Yup yup and yup. Thanx for your take on the gimmicks, and on the the "Don't See It To Sing It" list. I like that one.

I forgot to mention
If you or anyone you know is interested in doing a remix for the upcoming Venus Virus CD single release of "Could You?" let me know. If you liked "Once Shy", you should like "Could You?" - a bit more dancy then most V.V. stuff. It will be recorded at the end of the month, and I will need a complete remix by the end of Sept.

I have to be honest, there is no pay involved, although I am more then happy to do an exchange of services ie: backup vocals, remixing.... whatever is needed. And of course whoever is selected to be on the CD will get credit on the CD itself. This alone is a great opportunity, as I pan on pressing at least 1000 of these and using the single to promote the full length release that is coming out in 2005. What I mean to say is ... it's going to lots of fanzines, radio stations, record labels the world over.

Re: I forgot to mention
Sounds like fun, but my skills aren't quite at that level yet. Also, September is just jam-packed for me. Decompression from Burning Man, trying to sell one of the RVs, planning and hosting a BrokenHaus party, still working on lights at the club, GC, etc.

If a window opens up, I'll let you know though!

Re: I forgot to mention
Well, if you need help with the lights, of course you know who to call, especially as at this point I'll be unemployed as of August 31.
