UHHHHH SO I GOT HIT ON TODAY AT WORK? YES, AGAIN
I was just thinking the other day about how I haven't gotten hit on in maybe a year and a half or so. What happened to me? I thought. Was it just the purple hair that made me hot?
NO, I say to you, NO. Apparently I still gots it.
So I am up at the customer service desk, and this guy and his friend (henceforth known as Guy and Guy2) ask where the Satanic Bible is. "Oh," I say, "I know where that is," because I work in a book store, and I know where such things as books are. As I am walking there, I warn them over my shoulder, "These tend to ... 'disappear' quite often, so it might not be there," to which Guy responds, "Oh, kind of like the regular Bible, huh?"
WHAT? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? IT IS A MYSTERY! C'EST UN MYSTÈRE !
Anyway, I get it for him, and then I pull out the companion book as well, saying, "Here's The Satanic Rituals too, in case you're interested." According to Guy, he is 'very interested.' Ooookay.
Then, as I am moving to walk away and attend to my previous task, he asks if they have it in hard cover. "No, it only comes in paperback," I say, "but what I've heard some people do, is they take a blank leatherbound journal and copy it by hand."
This is something I know because I have access to the Internet, and research things such as if the Satanic Bible comes in hardcover before I go to a book store to buy it.
"Oh, sort of like you're a monk," Guy2 jokes, and I laugh and say 'exactly,' then leave.
Weird story, huh? WELL IT WOULD BE, IF ONLY IT ENDED THERE!! ( But it continues ... )

MOVIES I HAVE SEEN LATELY:
Zardoz (1974) - featuring Sean Connery in bikini briefs, thigh-high boots, and a five-foot long braid. MOST FANTASTICALLY AWFUL MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN. As with all movies in the mid-70s to mid-80s, there is also random, nonsensical boobs in it. Boobs! Also everyone involved with this film was stoned, I think.
Cruising (1980) - There were no boobs in this one. There was, however, Al Pacino dancing in a gay club. Also, apparently gay people love assless leather chaps. Thanks, Cruising!
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) - Ha ha ha, I am super-slow. Also, I just bought the first Hellboy graphic novel? And I really want some fanfic now? Ha ha ha ha ha oh my jesus someone help me. Anyway it was very good, and I really hope they make a third one.
I still need to watch Kafka and Stroszek but goddamn I am super-lazy.
IN OTHER NEWS: did you know there is a manga about Robert Johnson? You read that right, a Japanese person writing and drawing about an impoverished black musician in the 1920s. Yes, it is as offensive-looking as you think.

ALSDKFJLSD POSTING THIS ON MY TWITTER AS WELL BUT IDK IF I WILL GET A RESPONSE TO IT
BASICALLY: - I have had a website for seven years. - I don't remember ever being billed for hosting. - This seems like a Bad Thing™. - Since I can't remember ever being billed, I don't know a) what hosting plan I have, b) when it's going to expire, and c) what credit card it is being billed to. - I tried to contact the Billing Dept for information in May. No response. - Trying again now (Friday).
HERE IS WHERE I NEED HELP, GUIZ: If I do not hear back from them again, I am just going to get hosting elsewhere. I don't like the idea of unwittingly being forced into hundreds of dollars of interest just because they have terrible customer service.
AND SO: I know some of you have websites.
What are your hosts?
What are good hosts?
Can I post (illustrated) boobs while under these hosts, or will that get my shit turned off?

I am actually really terrified to find out that people actually like and support Sarah Palin, and find nothing about her policies distasteful, or her appointment as VP candidate highly suspicious and insulting to the intelligence of American people at large.

Back in Illinois now.
I really feel like I have to move out; I am too old to be living at my mom's house still. Yes I am aware that people do this all the time, and that I really don't have any other option right now, as I lack moneys, but dear god, I am really just getting tired of this. I feel like I am in a rut. I don't want to work retail forever.
I really need to find a grown-up job.

SO TODAY was DragonCon. flight__ and I went to the Venture Bros panel, and it was great, and there were a lot of Molotov cosplayers as well as two (!) Brock cosplayers, and a REALLY SUPER-FANTASTIC HUNTER COSPLAYER, he was amazing.
I actually asked a question (!!) during the panel, which took me like half an hour to work up the courage to do, and then I gave Doc and Jackson a print of this as well as a print of this, and they both seemed very excited by my AstroBase Go shirt. Pre-Shirt Club shirt club! I meant to give them the Doc Savage book I have, and also have them sign my S2 DVDs, but I totally forgot them at flight__'s apartment. :(
ALSO!!! On Thursday, I had geranium-flavoured gelato and it was absolutely delicious.

So I slept for nine hours, something I haven't done since I don't know when. I have work until nearly 11pm tonight, which is awesome. I am also pretty sure that I am developing a cold (my throat hurts and I feel very warm and headachey -- this could be from the sleep though, I do not know), which is also incredibly awesome.
MOVIES:
I saw The Dark Knight (2008) and idk, I don't really have anything to say about it. It was good? I kept wondering if a person could actually fall asleep with one eye open (eyelid burned off) though. I was more excited about the trailer for Watchmen (2009), oh holy god, I was this close to just breaking down into loud, shoulder-shaking sobs during it. Ugghhhh so excited. Also, Maggie Gyllenhaal has an enormous philtrum.
The Civilization of Maxwell Bright (2005): SADDEST MOVIE EVER. Also really quite good, I don't know why people don't hire Patrick Warburton for more actual acting roles instead of voice overs.
Fay Grim (2006): ALSO INCREDIBLY SAD, well the ending at least. Why do all the movies I watch lately have to do with people ~in love~ not ending up with each other? Jesus christ. :(
I am going to go make some oatmeal now, if I can find any; maybe this will help my throat.

HOLY FUCKIN' SHIT, I FINALLY GOT MY LETTER. sunshade, I love it, thank you~~~. I am going to put it up somewhere as soon as I get my room situated. Right now it is sharing holy space with my envelope from the Astrobase.
SPEAKING OF THE ASTROBASE, I still have not gotten my Week 5 tshirt yet?? I mean, now I know that I am definitely getting my mail, but why no shirt still? Why! Maybe I will send an email at some point, bemoaning my situation, my situation of a missing $22 tshirt.
Oh um also, yesterday was my first day back at work since January. It was fine. I got re-trained on the registers, since now we have fancy touch-screen registers instead of old Windows 95 things. It's CRAZY, and I predict that the next time I have to work (which is tomorrow), I am going to fuck up and lose us ten thousand dollars. Ten thousand dollars exactly.
AND!! Today I went to the optometrist. My lenses are still the same; they have not changed for like three years. I am getting new glasses anyway, since I only have one pair and holy god I am blind without them.
Also, I can literally watch this icon for minutes.

MOVIE VIEWING PART 2:
This is slowly turning into a movie blog. SORRY GUYS, BUT I'M BORING. We were going to see The Dark Knight (2008) today, but we need to see it on IMAX, and all IMAX showings today were sold out, as were the showings tomorrow in the afternoon. So we are seeing it tomorrow at like 1pm, which means I actually need to get up before noon, uughhhh.
So instead, we went to Hollywood Video to get some DVDs. I wanted The Civilization of Maxwell Bright (2005) as I have been wanting to see it for like a year and a half, and SURPRISE!!! it was actually there. I was shocked. I also got Fay Grim (2006) which, for some reason, was in the action section. I found this very odd.
SO YEAH, I am going to watch at least Maxwell Bright before Kafka (1991), SORRY. I know you are all terribly disappointed.
Also, I am a little paranoid and worried that I am not getting my mail? It should have stopped being forwarded to my old apartment on the 17th, and I had not been getting any mail there since then, but I am also still not getting any mail here ... and people are posting about the Rusty's Day Camp tshirt and I haven't gotten it yet? I also have not gotten sunshade's drawing, I AM SO WORRIED THAT IT IS LOST IN MAIL ROOM LIMBO. ughhhh considering writing myself a letter just to test this, idk.

Sigh, so I am back in Darien now. I am no longer a Chicagoan. So sad. I just changed my userinfo to reflect this, it's official.
I am going back to working part-time at Barnes & Noble in the beginning of August. I am going to keep looking for a full-time job elsewhere in the meantime, but if I can't find one by December -- when I have to start paying back my student loans -- then I am going to have to ask to be a full-time employee. Which I really do not want to do because responsibility! Scary! Also I hate working retail and do not want to be there 40+ hours a week.
ALSO, and I did not mention this earlier, MY MOM WAS IN BANGKOK FOR A WEEK like almost a month ago. Ummm she was there for work, and she brought me back a lot of Thai silk and jewellery, and also some delicious Japanese candy from the Tokyo airport.
And! I love those Kraft macaroni and cheese crackers, SO DELICIOUS.
MOVIES I HAVE SEEN LATELY:
1) Persepolis (2007) -- So pretty, so pretty. Why aren't there more animated movies that are not like, Disney or stupid fucking 3D animation? 2) Hellboy (2004) -- YEAH I'M SLOW, SO WHAT? It was good. Also I cried like a billion times because I am a huge pussy. 3) Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) -- it was okay? My mom is a fangirl for Brendan Fraser, so we went mostly for her. Also, ~3D~! My eyes hurt for hours afterwards. 4) WALL-E (2008) -- AGAIN, JUST CONSTANTLY CRYING. MOTHERFUCKING WATERFALLS FROM MY EYES. 5) Total Recall (1990) -- This movie had a fixation on Arnold Schwarzenegger's junk. What does it say about me that I found the most sympathetic character to be the Johnny Cab? Maybe the better question is what does this say about the movie?
COMING UP at some point: Kafka (1991), The Dark Knight (2008), and others? Maybe? I still have to watch Zardoz and Stroszek. HMMM.

i am an enormous stalker. i like keeping tabs on people whom i have fallen out of contact with. unfortunately whenever i do this, i always end up feeling really sick. i miss the person, i miss what we had, i hate what the person has become, and so i get nauseated. i generally don't like holding on to things because of this very reason, because invariably everything fades. everything always goes away, and we are left with just memories and a feeling of sickness deep in the pit of our stomachs.

ugh, i don't log into deviantart for a few weeks and now everything is different. I DON'T LIKE CHANGE!! what the fuuuuuuck this is so difficult to navigaaaaate
also, i got my roots fixed today. i really want to cut my hair, it is getting too long for chicago summer weather (humidity + long, curly hair = no no no) ... but i don't know what to do with it, since it is really difficult to style my hair in a way that does not end up making it hideous when it happens to be super-humid (which is often). also, because i am insane, i would need to dye my hair a different colour too. my god, i have had this hair colour for like two years, it's a new record!
so ... yeah, i don't know what to do with this. maybe i should hack it all off again. i really want to go back to purple again, but that might make getting a job difficult. not like i am actually interviewing anywhere anyway.
speakin of ye olde jobbes: i am going back to barnes and noble at the beginning of august. my lease is also up at my apartment then, so i will be moving back into my mom's house. which is ... disappointing ... but necessary, as i have got no moneys.
i have also been revisiting jhonen vasquez's earlier work lately, after not reading it since i was maybe eighteen or nineteen? (except for fillerbunny 3, which i keep next to my PC at my mom's house for whatever reason, and therefore read whenever things are loading or patching down there.) and dear god, it's actually good! and not good in the 'THIS MAN SPEAKS TO MY SOUL' as i thought when i was that age, but good in the way where i can appreciate it for what it was meant to be in the first place: entertainment.
i guess having a few years' worth of maturity really does make a difference.

STUFF:
- Went to the Taste of Chicago on Monday. Obtained delicious pierogies and delicious vegan food. Also obtained sun, in small amounts on nose and wrists (where I apparently forgot to put sunscreen). Obtained sun in large amounts on small of back. Sun is now mortal enemy.
- Slept until a billion o'clock on Tuesday and Wednesday. Having a difficult time finding a job that doesn't require 2-3 or 2-5 years experience. Also, played a lot of WoW.
- Went back to the Taste of Chicago on Thursday. Obtained frozen banana, vegetarian gyros, and hash browns.
- Returned to Grant Park Thursday night for the . Fireworks were pretty, but god I fucking hate people. People who stampede like cattle for no real reason. I mean literally stampeding; just a huge mass of people screaming and running in one direction at once like someone is throwing canisters of tear gas or something. To my credit, I just stood there, sort of shrinking away from the stampede, going 'jesus fuck' and 'what the fuck' because seriously, what the fuck.
- Went home from the at around 10.30.
- Four people were shot literally blocks away from my apartment around 10.40. One died.
- Went to my mom's house on Saturday! Drank a Smirnoff wine cooler, which did not make me sick like Seagram's wine coolers tend to do. Apparently I cannot handle whisky but vodka is just fine. I am genetically predisposed to love anything made out of a potato, I guess. Word up, Poland.
- Ordered the "Rusty's Day Camp for Boy Adventurers" tshirt, even though I am neither a boy nor an adventurer.
- Have to clean my room at some point so my bed will actually be able to fit in this room when I move back to my mom's house in August.
THE END.

So here is what I've been doing all weekend:
- Watching "Degrassi Junior High"
.... and that's about it. To better give you an idea of just how amazing this show is, I bring to you the theme song:
YEAH.
This is the pre-precursor to "Degrassi: The Next Generation" (the precursor being, predictably, "Degrassi High"), and it is Canadian and 80s and really amazing in that totally awful kind of way.
That someone's talking to me. Hey. I've got a new friend. Genius.
