I knew today was the 15th of June....it is after all, my dad's birthday, but it just occurred to me when I heard the newscaster say, "..on today, June 15th..." I thought, "wow, 23 years ago I attended my very first rock concert."
Back in the mid-80's I was (and still am, actually) a big, BIG fan of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Her fourth album, Glorious Results of a Misspent Youth had been released and I knew the lyrics by heart in no time. Joan had appeared live on MTV as part of MTV's New Year's Eve show. It was the first time I had seen her on TV (aside from the very few times MTV actually showed her videos) and the first time she and the blackhearts played Live Television. At the end of her set, she said, "See you on the road" or something like that....and I, of course, wished that I would indeed see her in concert.
I'm not sure when I found out about Joan's 15 June concert in San Antonio, but I asked my parents if I could go. And I was elated when they agreed and ordered tickets to the concert. My entire family went even though I was the only Joan Jett fan in the family. It was my dad's 44th birthday and he was giving me a gift....what a great dad! It was the most awesome experience of my life. I got to see my "idol" in person. The concert was awesome. I wasn't sitting really close. I think we were in, like, the 26th row or something, but it was great. She sang all my favorite songs and a song, that I'm sure if my parents had recognized a word, would have had a cow. (Most Joan fans would know what I'm talking about....the song was Star, Star)
It really was one of the best days of my life. My dad (and my family) loved me enough to sit through a concert that he didn't want to really be at, on his 44th birthday.
Happy Birthday, Dad & Happy Father's Day!!

I Am A: True Neutral Human Fighter/Sorcerer (3rd/2nd Level)
Ability Scores:
Strength-10
Dexterity-12
Constitution-11
Intelligence-14
Wisdom-13
Charisma-11
Alignment:
True Neutral A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.
Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.
Primary Class:
Fighters can be many things, from soldiers to criminal enforcers. Some see adventure as a way to get rich, while others use their skills to protect the innocent. Fighters have the best all-around fighting capabilities of the PC classes, and they are trained to use all standard weapons and armor. A fighter's rigorous martial training grants him many bonus feats as he progresses, and high-level fighters have access to special melee maneuvers and exotic weapons not available to any other character.
Secondary Class:
Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

It's Wednesday and my night to close at the library. I wish I didn't have to close, but everyone has to do it at least once a week. I'm not sure what I'll do today work.....the recoreds need fixing. I can finally get into the site I need to begin working on it. I guess I can spend the day doing that.
Oh well.....nothing to really write about...guess I'll go.

Well, it looks like we've been missed by the typhoon. It made a more northerly turn, so the most we'll get is some rain and wind. Apparently, it won't be bad since everyone is to go back to work tomorrow. Paul is supposedly 'on call' but we'll see how that works out. Tomorrow is his birthday, so I hope that it works out that he doesn't have to work. He had to work all day today even though the entire base was essentially shut down. I am only suppose to work 4 hours tomorrow, so I hope that it will really be that way....who knows since we'll have to get everything back to normal so we can open tomorrow. Well, I guess I'll go for now......

Well, I'm still waiting for the storm. The winds should be getting to the island sometime tonight. Right now, it's just cloudy with the occassional peek through of the sun and it's humid. I went out earlier and did a little video taping. I'm not really sure how it turned out. I'll review it later. I'm hoping once Paul gets home, I'll be able to get him to be in it. It will be better that way. :) Later!

It looks like tomorrow we'll be buckling down and preparing for Typhoon Kong-Rey (right now, it's still only a tropical storm, but they are expecting it to change over the next 24 hours). I guess tomorrow at work, we'll be preparing the library for the storm as well.

.....and I have to work tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to it. Saturdays always seem to go by so slowly......whether I do alot of work or not. I have a ton of things to do, so I'm not sure what I'll do (catalog, compare book conditions or work on stuff from the front office? Hmmmm, choices, choices, choices).
I want to write about our trip to Australia and post some pictures, but with me being busy and my laptop being sent into the shop, well.....it just hasn't happened. I will do it......I just don't know when.
Well, I guess I should be heading to bed; early day tomorrow.

Well, it's the end of my work week. I hope today goes well. My plan is to do nothing but catalog today. :) I'd like to get alot out to the front so we have new stuff going out. We'll see how it goes. I've cleaned up my desk quite a bit, but there still tons of stuff I don't know what is.....I'll go through it today as I believe it is probably partly cataloged already, but we'll see. Well, must get going....oh yeah, pictures from the land of Oz coming very soon.

Paul and I got back from Australia early Friday morning. We've been trying to catch up on all things since we've been back. We stocked up the fridge again and did the laundry and so on. Tomorrow it's back to work.....yuck. Oh well....that's the way it goes.
I hope to get caught up with all the internet stuff, but that's going to take a while....and I want to post some pictures from our trip too. I hope to have it done by next weekend.

It never fails, everytime I read Wil Wheaton's blog I become inspired to write. I come up with all these great ideas, but most of them turn out crap. I may try to write one a little later today. Right now, I'm baking cookies......Monster Cookies to be exact. Paul loves them and he's been wanting them for quite some time. I'm going to make 2 batches. I'm nearly done with batch #1.....then comes all the combining of ingredients of batch #2. I don't think I'll have them all done by the time he gets home from work though.....he should be home by 1 or so today.
Okay....off to take them out of the oven.........

I'm still sick. I've been running a fever on and off since Thursday. I was hoping taking it easy and taking Tylenol would help, but it's not. I'm trying to hold off on making an appointment, but we'll see what happens.
Tomorrow is Super Bowl Monday.....yeah, I said that right.....Monday. Here are Guam the Super Bowl airs at 9am Monday morning. I can't remember what the library was like last year during Super Bowl, but hopefully it will be slow, but we'll see.
I don't feel like writing a whole lot......my head is killing me, I feel weak, my eyes are extremely watery and I'm so ready for sleep (I even took a nap this afternoon). Oh well....as long as I'm better before Feb. 25th.........that's the day we leave for Australia.

Our new year started off rather uneventful. We stayed up until midnight gaming....one of our favorite pasttimes. It will be nice when we can get a group together and game in person, but I'm betting it won't happen until we get back to the states. There is this one guy here we gamed with once, but that was the weekend of Thanksgiving, so who knows....we'll just have to see.
I haven't made any resolutions.....and don't plan to. I never stick to them anyway, so why bother. I'll just do what I can to be a good person and try to stay healthy. I guess that's all anybody can do really.
I have comprised a list of books I read and movies I saw in 2006:

Well, I guess I'd better go for now......there is a slight possibility we are fixing to lose power (our lights dimmed for a few seconds)......and wouldn't that be nice...NOT!!!
