7:36 pm
i told beka, my roommate, who was in the same room at the time, that i was going to clean now. this was her response.

PBAdancer (7:05:08 PM): please
PBAdancer (7:05:11 PM): i love you
PBAdancer (7:05:27 PM): you have no dea how much you're hurting me right now
PBAdancer (7:05:37 PM): I feel very small
PBAdancer (7:05:49 PM): I guess my love means nothing to you
PBAdancer (7:05:55 PM): I'm sorry you have fallen
PBAdancer (7:06:10 PM): to such a sad and untouchable level
PBAdancer (7:06:21 PM): I hope you laugh when you read this
PBAdancer (7:06:33 PM): cause I know I'll start laughing if you do
PBAdancer (7:06:44 PM): so what do I have to do o make you laugh?
PBAdancer (7:06:51 PM): you should just smile
PBAdancer (7:07:04 PM): it's a lot easier to laugh if you're already smiling
PBAdancer (7:07:36 PM): unless you're around people that aren't funny then the smile becomes an awkward substitute for the laugh
PBAdancer (7:07:53 PM): but most people can tell when you're substituting it like that
PBAdancer (7:08:04 PM): it's just a thought, nothing personla
PBAdancer (7:08:08 PM): personal*
PBAdancer (7:08:21 PM): so I'm sitting here writing all this why you clean
PBAdancer (7:08:42 PM): you're making me feel like a BUM!!!!!!!
PBAdancer (7:08:54 PM): that's not very nice
PBAdancer (7:09:01 PM): but I love you anyway
PBAdancer (7:09:13 PM): even though you don't return my undying love
PBAdancer (7:09:15 PM): it's ok
PBAdancer (7:09:20 PM): I love you anyway
PBAdancer (7:09:32 PM): someday you might understand and love me to
PBAdancer (7:09:38 PM): or even just like me
PBAdancer (7:09:43 PM): that's better that nothing
PBAdancer (7:09:57 PM): I can't imagine you would though
PBAdancer (7:10:21 PM): I think I'll just go jump off the balcony now........life is not worth living without your love
PBAdancer (7:10:31 PM): *sniff, sniff*
PBAdancer (7:10:39 PM): *sigh* ok, here I go
PBAdancer (7:10:48 PM): I'm jumping now
PBAdancer (7:10:55 PM): I'll see you in the afterlife
PBAdancer (7:11:10 PM): wow....I'm falling quickly to the ground
PBAdancer (7:11:16 PM): this is going to hurt
PBAdancer (7:11:32 PM): I didn't make it to the road so I probably won't even die
PBAdancer (7:11:36 PM): that's annoying
PBAdancer (7:11:52 PM): I should have brought a knife with me to finish off the job
PBAdancer (7:12:05 PM): are you happy?!?!?! this is what you pushed me to!!!
PBAdancer (7:12:30 PM): look me in the eye and tell me that you don't find me attractive!!!!!
PBAdancer (7:12:34 PM): just try it!
PBAdancer (7:12:40 PM): I know the result
PBAdancer (7:12:49 PM): you won't be able to say it!
PBAdancer (7:13:05 PM): and if you do you know you'll be laughing
PBAdancer (7:13:12 PM): and lieing
PBAdancer (7:13:24 PM): and if you don't realize it I will for you
PBAdancer (7:13:30 PM): but by then it'll be to late
PBAdancer (7:13:45 PM): but don't worry
PBAdancer (7:13:53 PM): I'll be dead soon anyway
PBAdancer (7:14:21 PM): how did you like the novel I just wrote
PBAdancer (7:14:27 PM): dang....not to shabby
PBAdancer (7:14:36 PM): hahah
PBAdancer (7:14:51 PM): slightly depressing but I was in a zone and words were just flowing
PBAdancer (7:14:56 PM): you know how it goes
PBAdancer (7:15:00 PM): whatev
PBAdancer (7:15:13 PM): I don't know any of these Beatles songs
PBAdancer (7:15:24 PM): I like I ust don't know them
PBAdancer (7:15:30 PM): just*
PBAdancer (7:15:37 PM): I like your bangs
PBAdancer (7:15:41 PM): their pretty

5:28 pm - Happy Bifocals at the Moniter Liberation Day!
i got my pcat scores today! keep in mind that these numbers are not showing the percentage of information i got right, but the percentage of people who's scores were lower than mine. i took this test against thousands of aspiring pharmacists in florida. this was my first time taking the test, but many who took this test were taking it for the 2nd or 3rd time.

verbal:82%
biology: 99%
reading: 62%
quantitative: 93%
chemistry: 76%

Composite score: 92%

i needed a 50% composite score to get into my school of pharmacy. i'm kind of happy about all this.

in other news, i got a job as a telecounselor at pba. my job is to call prospective students (juniors and seniors in highschool) and answer any questions they have about pba. Also, on Wednesday, i popped my kneecap out of joint, but it popped back in again and i just have a pulled muscle. It hurts still, so i have to hobble around for a while, but i should be fine in a week or so. i come home for xmas break in 15 days.

9:44 am - A Typical Evening
8:30pm - began 5 question organic chemistry homework (estimated time of completion - 9:30)

11:00pm - finished problems 1-4

2:45am - finished problem 5

total time it takes to teach ones self one chapter of organic chemistry - appx. 6.25 hrs. the quality of my "professor's" "teaching" makes me sad inside.

please understand why i haven't been in touch with the people i care about this semester. i'm pretty sure i spend more time doing chemistry than i do sleeping.

Person of the day: Alexis
Relationship to Tejla: study buddy

nominated because if doing homework was a chemical reaction, Alexis would be the enzyme that lowers my activation energy and makes the reaction a lot more likely to occur.

10:40 pm - Happy Fish Tank Floorshow Day!
please don't ask me what a fish tank floorshow is. It just makes me miss Stewert.

i recently realized that everyone might not know about my car accident. The first week of August i was driving to a friend's house and lost control of my car going around a curve and went into a heavily wooded area at 55 mph. My car was totaled and did not have airbags. My dad figured out what happened based on the tire tracks and his fairly in depth understanding of physics, and neither he nor anyone else who examined the facts can figure out with scientific evidence why i am not dead. My injuries included a scraped knee, some bruises, and a scrape on my elbow. i was wearing my seat belt, but despite the sudden impact, i did not break my collar bone or any other bone in my body. the reason i didn't die is Jesus. plain and simple. He is my Lord and Savior. i'm going hard after Him. come too.

Person of the Day: Claude
Relationship to Tejla: acquaintance

nominated for his persistence and good humor when trying desperately to remember my name and resorting to guessing, he has the potential to be a great friend if he could just remember who i am... i feel kind of cruel for letting him keep on trying. example: "Tiffany? Tanya? Tesha? Tazia? Tabitha? Teluka? Tameeka? Talula? Tanequa? i know it starts with a "T"!"

poor guy.

Person of the Day: Awesome Ashlea
Relationship to Tejla: girl down the hall

nominated for her sincere understanding when Beka and i informed her we needed to give her an adjective to remember her name, and for her bravery last night in the face of breaking curfew, this girl has a passion you don't see much these days. She gets excited about going to church like a little kid gets excited about Chuck E. Cheese's and has no fears that i know of.

7:23 pm - Happy Pause the World Day!
Why is it such a bad thing to have your house infested with ants? First of all, i won't accept the answer that "it's just gross", because if you think about how many anthills the construction of your house destroyed, it's only fair that you would let them visit every now and then. They aren't disgusting little bugs, they're creatures that you had a part in massacring. Secondly, what's the harm? i understand there are a few types of ants that bite, but i've never seen them come inside. All the little buggers do when they come in is look for crumbs or dirty dishes, just anything to munch on. How is that any different than a dog? Besides the fact that you never have to feed them, spend time with them, or clean up any messes of course.

Favorite Person of the Day: Michelle
Relationship to Tejla: friend at PBA

nominated for her amazing British(?) accent, you would never guess this blonde hair, blue eyed belle was from Zimbabwae. Not only is she a strong Christian and a loyal friend, she is also one of the most sincerely loving people i've ever met. i really do adore her.

8:14 pm - Happy Someday!
No seriously, it really is "Someday". I guess that means that if you ever told a person you would do it "someday" you meant you would do it today. Better get crackin! The passion for unheard of holidays and observances is rapidly becoming popular at PBA. Yesterday was the first TNL of the year. TNL is a student lead service with fun music and always an awesome message, usually from a ministry major. For whatever reason, they decided to kick off this year with a display of amazing talent from a former prince charming candidate. As it was cream-filled donut day, they had him hula-hoop, "sing" underoath, and munch on a cream-filled donut (last year it was a big mac). It was quite a spectacle.

Favorite Person of the Day: my mommy

so if you auditioned for a band, would you take it as a good or a bad sign that the director asks when you're done "have you considered taking private lessons?" ouch man, ouch.

Favorite Person of the Day: Lisa
Relationship to Tejla: neighbor

nominated for her humility despite her academic brilliance, her gentleness, friendliness, respectfulness, and modesty. i can't walk to class without seeing at least 3-5 dress code violations because people here just don't seem to care, but Lisa took the initiative to find someone and verify that her perfectly modest top was in fact in compliance with dress code.

so there wasn't an evacuation after all, but they cancelled classes! that means i got almost all my pros and none of my cons. sweet. we were required to be in our dorms by 9pm last night and weren't allowed to leave til 10:30 this morning, so we had a hurricane party! there was a spoons tournament, a ping-pong tournament, lots of pool and video games, good food, and a fun way for everyone in the res hall (ODP) to meet each other...

cons of an evacuation:
-have to figure out where i'm going
-very short notice for whoever i stay with
-very little time to book a flight
-travel cost
-won't know if my stuff is underwater while i'm gone
-i just got all my stuff unpacked last week; packing up again would stink
-wouldn't get to spend time with the girls on my floor

7:58 pm - Happy Race Your Mouse Around the Icons Day!
This morning my alarm went off at 8:00am. i sat up, opened my laptop, and went to weather.com. It said that Ernesto was now a tropical depression. the map showed a picture of Ernesto hitting the southern most tip of Florida and heading north up the peninsula. i got ready and went to class where i was informed that Ernesto is supposed to be swinging up the east coast and hitting us head on. i just got off the phone with my mom who recounted the evening news which reported that Ernesto was heading for the gulf. maybe a little less money exploring other planets and a little more money toward figuring out our own?

so far i loooooove the girls on my hall, they're awesome! it's also so fun to see people from last year. there are a lot of people that i saw around campus last year but never talked to that i'm talking to now, so that's cool. i also really like my suite mate Jess, we had an adventure today. we had to go to some office where you pay for parking tickets and turn in crack dealers and such. one lady took a really long time dealing with parking tickets or crack dealers (i don't know which) and the lady behind her started flipping out on her and cursing at her! the lady being flipped out on walked up to Jess and i and was like "what should i do?! what should i say?!!!" Jess just calmly and quietly answered "nothing, just walk away." and so she did. the next few minutes were beyond awkward. we saw the flipee later out in the parking lot and tried to cheer her up and she told us her whole life story. kind of bizarre day i've been havin.

10:15 am - Happy National Hairball Awareness day!
I have come to the conclusion that there are several professors at PBA in a secret association called PASSFF: Professors Against Students Studying For Finals, affectionately called Pass or Fail by its affiliates. How do i know this? Well, there have been many hints along the way, but my greatest single piece of evidence is this bizarre assignment my composition prof assigned to us the week before finals. We had to take three pages of Othello and translate it into a modern dialect. Mine was cockney. Thank goodness for this site:

http://www.nakedtranslations.com/en/2004/02/000068.php

It's great fun.

Desdemona: Then 'opefully 'eaven will 'ave Piccadilly Percy on me.
Othello: I would 'ope so too.
Desdemona: I 'ope ya will 'ave Piccadilly Percy on me too! I never wronged ya in me whole Porridge Knife. I never fancied Cassio, I cared abaht 'im as a China Plate. I never showed 'im any sign of romantic golden dove.
Othello: I Bear's Paw 'im 'oldin' the 'andkerchief! Ya Bob Cryer, you're turnin' me Horse and Cart ter stone, and makin' me call wot I'll do murder, chicken pen I 'ad been thinkin' of it as a sacrifice! I Bear's Paw the 'andkerchief.
Desdemona: 'e found it somewhere, then. I never gave it ter 'im. Tell 'im ter come 'ere. 'e'll tell the truf.
Othello: 'e's already done so.
Desdemona: Wot, me lord?
Othello: That 'e 'ad Posh n Becks wif ya.
Desdemona: Wot? 'ad Posh n Becks wif me?
Othello: Yeah.
Desdemona: 'e wouldn't say that.
Othello: Nah. 'e won't say aahhht anymore. 'onest Iago's 'rranged that.
Desdemona: Oh, I'm scared. Wot, is 'e brahn bread?
Othello: If 'e 'ad as many lives as 'e's got 'airs on 'is Crust of Bread, I would've killed them aw in revenge.
Desdemona: Oh, 'e's been betrayed, and I've been ruined.
Othello: Wot, ya Doug McClure, 're ya cryin' for 'im wite in front of me?
Desdemona: Send me away, me lord, but daan't kill me!
Othello: Daahhhn, Doug McClure!
Desdemona: Kill me tomorra, but let me bee 'ive tonight.
Othello: Nah, if ya struggle wif me-
Desdemona: Just Ca and Calf an 'our!
Othello: While I'm doin' this, I can't pause for a moment.
Desdemona: Just let me say wahn Weavers' Chair!
Othello: It's too Cilla Black. (he smothers her)
Emilia: (offstage) Me lord, me lord! Wotcha! Me lord, me lord!
Othello: What's that Box of Toys? In'cha brahn bread yet? I kna I'm cruel, but I'm merciful too. I daan't want ya ter linger in Cynthia.
Emilia: (offstage) Wotcha! Me lord, me lord!
Othello: Who's there?
Emilia: (offstage) Oh me lord, I need ter speak ter ya!
Othello: Yeah, it's Emilia.(to EMILIA)—Just a Cock Linnet!—She's brahn bread na.—Emilia's prolly come ter tell me that Cassio's been killed. The chuffin' Read and Write outside was loud. So! You're not movin' anymore? Nah, you're as Beechams Pill as a grave. Should I let 'er in? Is that a Robin Hood idea? I fin' she's movin' again—na. Wot should I do? If she comes in, she'll try ter speak ter me trouble and strife. Me trouble and strife, me trouble and strife! Wot trouble and strife? I daan't 'ave a trouble and strife. Oh, this is unbearable! Oh, the bleedin' 'orror! There should be a 'uge eclipse of the currant ban and the moon, na that Desdemona's nah longer on this earf.
Emilia: (offstage) Hairy Biscuits and Cheese, me lord. I need ter speak wif ya. oh, me Robin Hood lord!
Othello:I'd forgotten abaht you—Emilia, wait a moment, let me draw the bleedin' curtains.(closes the bed curtains) Where 're ya? (unlocks the door) Emilia enters
Othello: What's the matter wif ya na?
Emilia: Oh, me lord, terrible murders 'ave been committed over there!
Othello: Wot? Just na?
Emilia: Yeah, just na, me lord.
Othello: It's 'cause of the chuffin' full moon. It comes too close ter the earf and drives men 6's and 7's.
Emilia: Cassio's killed a young Venetian named Rodrigo.
Othello: Roderigo's been killed? and Cassio's killed?
Emilia: Nah, Cassio wasn't killed.
Othello: Cassio's not brahn bread? Then the bleedin' Pete Tong geeza is brahn bread, and sweet revenge 'as gone Pete Tong.
Desdemona: Oh, I've been murdered unfairly!
Emilia: Oh lord, who's that cryin'?
Othello: That? Wot?
Emilia: Oh, nah, that was me lady's Hobson's Choice.
EMILIA Opens the bedcurtains.
'elp! 'elp! oh, lydy, speak again. sweet Desdemona! Oh sweet mistress, speak!
Desdemona: I'm dyin' an innocent Gooseberry Puddin'.
Emilia: Oh, 'oo did this fin'?
Desdemona: Nah wahn. I did it myself. Give me golden dove ter me kind Old Pot And Pan. oh, goodbye!
DESDEMONA dies.
Othello: Why, 'a could she 'ave been murdered?
Emilia: Me God, 'oo knows?
Othello: Ya 'eard 'er say it wasn't me.
Emilia: Yeah, she said that. I must scapa fla report wot 'appened.
Othello: She was lyin' even as she was garn daahhhn ter Gypsy Nell. I did kill 'er.
Emilia: Then she was even more an angel, and you're an even blacker devil!
Othello: She was fickle and unfaithful, loike Ten Furlongs.
Emilia: You've Kate Moss-ed your Chinese Blind ter accuse 'er of cheatin'. She was utterly true ter ya!
Othello: Cassio 'ad Posh n Becks wif 'er. Ask your Old Pot And Pan if ya doubt me. If I didn't 'ave a Robin Hood reason ter do this, blimey me ter the bleedin' very bottom of Gypsy Nell. Your Old Pot And Pan knew abaht everythin'.
Emilia: Me Old Pot And Pan!
Othello: Your Old Pot And Pan.
Emilia: 'e said she was unfaithful?
Othello: Yeah, wif Cassio. if she'd been faithful ter me, I never would 'ave given 'er up, not even if God 'imself offered me a jewel as big as a planet in exchange for 'er.
Emilia: Me Old Pot And Pan.
Othello: Yeah, 'e's the bloomin' wahn 'oo Damien Hirst told me abaht 'er. 'e's an 'onest geeza 'oo detests evil actions.
Emilia: Me Old Pot And Pan!
Othello: Why do ya keep repeatin' that, Gooseberry Puddin'? I'm tellin' ya, your Old Pot And Pan.

1:39 pm - Waidseemuller, Martin Remembrance Day
"Although individual atoms and molecules are invisible to the naked eye, one mole of atoms or molecules is easily detected. Because subatomic particles are even smaller than atoms and also invisible, you might never expect to see individual electrons. Let's consider the possibility, however, of seeing a farady of charge. A faraday of charge contains Avogadro's number of electrons. Would this collection of 6.022x10^23 electrons be visible? If so, what would it look like? It would look quite spectacular!

Throughout the 1980's, scientists carefully studied data collected during 5 million lightning flashes along the eastern United States. The data were collected by 36 instruments that were collectively known as the National Lightning Detection Network. The investigating scientists found that the electrical currents in lightning flashes over northern Florida measured about 45,000 amps, about double the 25,000-amp currents in lightning flashes over the New England states. This study showed that the amount of current flowing during lightning flashes was inversely proportional to the latitude of the storm.

One coulomb is the amount of charge that passes a point when a one-ampere current flows for one second. Thus, a current of 96,500 amps flowing for one second contains Avogadro's number of electrons, or one faraday of charge.

Measurements taken in northern Florida show that a typical two-second lightening strike over that section of the country would transfer approximately Avogadro's number of electrons between the clouds and the earth. So, for those living in northern Florida, a spectacular mental view of one mole of electrons can be obtained by visualizing a two-second lightning strike. Keep in mind that the average lightning strike lasts only a fraction of a second, and that we can only have a mental view of a two-second lightning strike by extrapolation of what is seen in nature. Because New England lightning strikes produce only about half the current of lightning strikes over northern Florida, people in New England must try to imagine a four second lightning strike."
