A conversation between Jenny McCarthy and her child’s neurologist:
He looked at me with sorrowful eyes and said, "I'm sorry, your son has autism."
He looked at me and then pointed to what Evan had made in the corner. Evan had taken those ear cones they use to look inside your ears and made the most perfect row lined up across the room.
"Does he line toys up at home instead of playing with them?" he asked.
"Yes, but don't all kids do that?"
"Nope, not all," he said. "And they all don't flap their arms like that either."
I looked at Evan and saw that he was "flapping his wings." I said, "Oh no, he just does that when he gets excited."
"That is called a stim," he said.
"A what?"
"A stim. Self-stimulatory behaviors. It's an autistic trait," he said.
Evan is now 5 years old and able to communicate completely. Since we can talk, I ask him questions that I so badly wanted to know the answers to during the crisis. When I asked him why he flaps his arms, he replied, "Because I get so excited and then I fly just like the angels do.”
....amazing.... |

| | depressed | ] | I enjoy spending time with Kylee but I miss my kids. I miss my family. I wish they were here with me. I miss their hugs and kisses. I miss watching my babies grow up! I’ve already missed Lilly pulling up to things and her first tooth. It’s sad to know how much she’s grown up while I’ve been away. I want them here with me.
I don’t want to leave the area but I want to be with my family!
I miss Jared. I miss his snuggles, cuddles, and sometimes even his laziness and dependence upon me!
I miss cooking dinner each night. I miss my cat, Sabrina.
I don’t know what to do. I feel like I am at such a loss without my family.
Even if they were here, I’d be stuck in DC all day at work. With the commute and being in the office, I'm gone from 6:45am-6:45pm. I want a job that will allow me to not work such long days, yet still bring home enough money to support us. The school system would be nice, but no one responds to my resume and inquires.
Suck. |

An update takes a lot of spare time, and that's one thing I don't have much of. Between being sick lately and being a mom, my time has been spent juggling a million things! Lilly is getting big. She's playing with toys and trying so hard to sit up on her own. She really enjoys sitting in the walker and can scoot around the floor by stretching her legs. Mallory is still doing a great job at being a big sister. She enjoys helping every now and then but isn't wanting to do EVERYTHING by herself. So it's a good combination. I head off tonight for an orientation program at Ivy Tech for some classes. Work is paying me to take an Auto-CAD class this summer. The credits will transfer to BSU so I can finish my degree sometime this century! :) Well I need to get going. Take care all! |

| | crazy | ] | Life has been busy! We're adjusting nicely with having both girls around. Lilly is getting nice and plump like babies do. Last night she went from 10pm until 4am without eating, and slept from 11:30pm until 4am. I'm glad she's going for longer spurts at night. I started back to work on Tuesday. Not a lot has really "changed." The firm has picked up quite a bit of work for this coming year. It's nice that we have projects to complete (architecture). Well - don't forget about us if you haven't hung out with us in a while! Off to be mommy! |

| | thoughtful | ] | So Mallory turned 3 on Saturday! We had a little party for her. She had a blast and got some fun little gifts. Movies, DVD player (since ours was broken!), Magnetic doodle pad, lots of paper and colored pencils for writing and coloring, coloring books, a Care Bear, clothes, a new jacket for winter, etc. It was fun.
Since my father-in-law couldn't come down this weekend, we had plans to take my mother-in-law back to Kokomo on Sunday morning to meet him. (They live in South Bend and Kokomo is basically the halfway mark.) We had gotten MY mother to watch Mallory so Jared and I could go visit with Sarah in Indy for the day after we dropped off Jennifer. - AND OF COURSE - Jared threw his back out before we left for Kokomo at like 10am. Me, being 8½ months pregnant, and Jennifer (his mother) having had a knee replacement and lots of other physical issues, couldn't get him to the car from the edge of the couch. (Where he was stuck and couldn't move from.) It was obvious he needed some pain meds - since he was crying his eyes out! So we had to call the ambulance. I felt bad for him. It's not often he cries from pain, so you know he was hurting. He ended up having a really bad muscle spasm in his lower back. He's now on some muscle relaxers and pain killers. We're hoping the spasm will work itself out with some stretching and normal movements. We'll see though. He's still very slow to move and in pain. Only time will tell.
Oh the excitement in my life - It never stops! |

Shannon Gaddis 765-215-6089 ________________________________________
I am hoping to transition into being a Stay At Home Mother after the birth of my second child.
Childcare could start as early as November, but I would need recovery time after a scheduled c-section following Thanksgiving. (November 27 - December 11) I have a 3 year old daughter who LOVES to play with others. She is very well behaved and shares well. She enjoys multiple child interaction and will be a great playmate.
I am looking forward to providing income for my family as well as providing as much motherly attention to your child/children as possible. I do not wish to take your place as a mother, but will offer your child as much nurturing as they need to feel safe and secure while you are away.
I want to limit my child care to one or two families to keep the ratio low! (No more than two additional children on a full time basis – but would consider after school care for older siblings.)
What I Can Offer Your Family:
Individualized attention
Fun and age appropriate activities, meals, nap time, library visits, local outings (shopping, the park, etc.)
Occasional evening and weekend care (Parent’s night out, etc.)
Before/after school care for siblings and pick-up if needed and pre-arranged
Very responsible mother with early childhood education background
Previous CPR and First Aid Certification
Valid driver’s license
Vehicle insurance
Reliable transportation
No major traffic violations
Open to a background check
Would easily pass a drug test!
Housework - Willing to alternate houses (locally) in order to clean, (or have a scheduled evening to clean) and occasional help on cooking
Reasonable rates offered along with the chance for you to make a local friend! |

| Babies! |
[Oct. 10th, 2006|01:30 pm] |
I got to see Kendra and her new little one over the weekend. We made a special trip up to Jared's parents this weekend so I could go and visit Kendra! She's doing well and so is the babe - Ryleigh Elizabeth. :) She's so tiny! I can't remember Mallory ever being that small. Guess I'll have a shock when baby #2 is born and I compare the two kids right next to each other! But I was glad to visit and can't wait to see them again.
On our baby news - C-section is scheduled. Tuesday, November 28 at 9:15am. Slice and dice! (as long as I don't go into labor on my own before then, and then the c-section will be when that happens, as long as I'm far enough along to not have to stop labor for baby's health safety)I am currently 32 weeks along in my pregnancy. Things have been going normal and look as if they will continue to be normal! So hopefully the Tuesday after Thanksgiving we'll be having ourselves another baby! (Sex still unknown and both gender names still unknown SORRY!) |

| Cruise! |
[Sep. 25th, 2006|02:29 pm] |
We're back from our cruise! It was a great time. We got to visit Cozumel, Mexico - The Cayman Islands - and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It was nice to relax and not have lots of things to worry about. In Mexico we went on a 3.5 mile bike ride, snorkeled in the ocean, then biked back to the port. It was a lot of energy for me (Lazy, fat, pregnant American.) There were only 6 of us and the other two couples were athletic Europeans who biked ALL of the time! They flew. It was all Jared and I could do to keep up. Luckily on the way back to the port the instructor made them keep up with us! ha ha. In Grand Cayamn we took a catamaran to a sand bar in the ocean and got to play with sting rays! They're so gentle. And in Jamaica we went to a private beach club with an open bar for Jared, unlimited food, and privacy! If anyone has ever been to Jamaica - the native people are VERY pushy and always want you to buy their things, take their cabs, etc. They don't leave you alone and do NOT take no for an answer! It's highly annoying. We got offered drugs and got stalked for 3 blocks by a local lady who wanted us to visit her shop because she had 7 kids at home. So what!? Keep your legs closed! ha... But anyways - it was a good time. Would have been better if the bed didn't hurt every muscle in my body. It was a very firm mattress, and I didn't have all of my pillows like I do at home too. That didn't help. But all in all, it was great! I would recommend it to anyone! Daddy Please Don’t Leave
Daddy please don’t leave It tears me up inside To see you and mommy fight Don’t run away and hide
The light is getting clearer As I enter the small room I see my mother lying there Surrounded by deep maroon
I scream for you as you run out the door Daddy please don’t leave Mommy’s hurt we need some help Why is there blood on your sleeve?
Daddy please don’t leave I know it was an accident It’s hard growing on my own I just wonder why you went
She’s been gone a long time Now raised and on my own They called you a murderer But I will always know
Daddy why’d you leave? I scream through the tears I’m glad to say now I’m grown I’ve lived with so many fears
She died when I was ten You left town the same day I don’t understand why It just had to turn out that way

You
Your gentle touch Your warm embrace The way you look That smile on your face. It warms my heart Sparks my soul Holding you tight Makes my heart full!
I can't believe It's been this long We've made a life And a happy home You are my true love Don't ever forget Don't ever forget me and you
I look into your eyes And know that you care Whenever I need you I know you'll be there. If you need a hug I'll be there too You must know by now I never want to lose you!
I can't believe It's been this long We've made a life And a happy home You are my true love Don't ever forget Don't ever forget me and you
We've walked through fire Danced in the rain For you my love I'd do it again Don't ever forget - Me and You!
___________________________________ Forever Came Too Soon
You said you'd love me forever But I seem to know it goes You keep me in your heart But soon you start to get go You told me you'd want me forever, But now I know that's not true, Because I must tell you, That forever came too soon.
I thought we had something strong I knew we’d last for years Now I sit here all alone For you I cry these tears
You said you'd love me forever But I seem to know it goes You keep me in your heart But soon you start to get go You told me you'd want me forever, But now I know that's not true, Because I must tell you, That forever came too soon.
You made me feel so whole Wrapped up in your arms Together we made harmony And now I have no song.
You said you'd love me forever But I seem to know it goes You keep me in your heart But soon you start to get go You told me you'd want me forever, But now I know that's not true, Because I must tell you, That forever came too soon.
The days go on and still I cry Some day you will need me But it will be too late With this song I say goodbye.
You said you'd love me forever But I seem to know it goes You keep me in your heart But soon you start to get go You told me you'd want me forever, But now I know that's not true, Because I must tell you, That forever came too soon.
___________________________________ Some Kids
Some kids are getting drunk While others are using crack Some kids are out there getting bullets in their backs Some kids are hungry while some kids are cold Some kids are scared and want someone to hold Is this the world God gave us to live in? Or is this a world full of hate and sin? We all know we'll die not knowing why Some kids hurt or others live in dirt But will they die not knowing why They're being punished for wanting to fly? Fly out of this hellhole and into the sky Where they will be free to die, Without watching their backs or living with rats Without caring or sharing food that they may never see again Is it so wrong to have a dream Without it being shattered and for it to seem... REAL?

In a world of darkness, I see. In a world of pain, I smile. In a world of joy, I cry. In a world without you, I perish. You give me a reason, You give me hope You give me the strength to carry on. You are just a single person, But with the knowledge of many. Swept off my feet Left hopelessly in love, You are my inspiration! |
