Tue, Jun. 24th, 2008, 09:41 pm Motorcycles and Morons
Since the weather has been finally cooperating, I have been riding the motorcycle to work most days. This had lead me to fear for my life. I trust my riding skills, and am still here, but some of the drivers of this region have left much to be desired. First, there was the morning the minivan cut in front of me and slammed on the brakes. Now, I may be smaller than a car, but I still need space to stop in. I had some choice words for that soccermom mobile. But it is still not the worst driver I have encountered. Next, I'll tell you about the sudden stop I had to do when traffic stopped to admire some car broken down on the side of the road. This required me to jam on the breaks, and I fishtailed twice as I came to a complete stop. Thankfully the car behind me had good brakes. Still, this is not the worst of my encounters with Motorists. This morning, I had an Idiot tailgating me, TAILGATING A BIKE! I was doing more than the speed limit, but it wasn't enough for this asshole. He then followed me onto the back roads to my office. I pulled over, and he actually flipped me off as he past me. I screamed at him that he was an ass to tailgate a bike. This has got to be the worst thing I have encountered so far on the Motorcycle. All the crazies on their cell phones, eating, drinking, texting, etc. really don't hold a candle to an ass who tailgates a guy on a bike. I hope there is a special place in the afterlife for him, or he comes back as a bug. I ask all of you who drive to please be considerate of cycleists, we don't have much protecting us, so be considerate of those of us on two wheels.
Sun, May. 18th, 2008, 07:27 am belated Birthday and flat tires
Last night we had a belated birthday for Marctic. It was food and fun at Dave & Busters. On the way out, however we had a small problem. At one of the stops, this guy didn't stop, I had to do a sudden stop, and when I did I must have hit a nail, but we didn't know that it had caused a flat tire at that point. After finding an open space, we discovered the flat tire. Now, I can handle a flat tire, so that really wasn't the problem. the problem was that I had no clue how to get the spare tire down, and no flashlight to see into the hole for the tool to wrench it down. I busied myself with getting the old one off and asked strangers if they had a flashlight each time someone walked by. Finally, the guy parked next to us came up and luckily had a flashlight and was nice enough to help us out. Got the tire down, changed them out and were on our way about a half hour after we got the flat tire. I have got to get one of those flashlights that you shake to power up for the truck so I am not stuck like this again. But I did learn how to get my spare down.

Wed, Apr. 30th, 2008, 07:43 am I'm too old for this...
Last night's practice included some tackling. well, one of the big, young guys tackled me and I ended up wrenching my muscles around my knee. I'll be fine, but didn't sleep much last night as everytime I rolled over, new pain coursed through my leg. Not to mention the nausea that I was dealing with after midnight. I am stying home today to rest the leg, but also stretching it out slowly which seems to be helping. I can now at least sit up. when I woke up this morning I had to keep it straight or I had sharp pain. Guess no playing this weekend as I will still be recovering. Going to get a knee brace for future games/practice. and I am definitely not going as all out any more in practice.
Wed, Apr. 23rd, 2008, 06:51 pm Rugby again?
My body has been mostly screaming in protest from the workout last night. I need a good massage. So, I decided to start playing rugby again to get myself back into shape, and get involved in something that I really enjoyed but dropped due to the lack of desire to drive to DC at least twice a week. I looked at the Baltimore-Chesapeake website a couple of times, but always said next season. Well, I finally decided that it was time to follow through and get back at it. Last night's practice I fell back into the groove, just like riding a bike. though being the new guy, I have much to learn on how the team does things. The basics are all the same, but Line out calls and play names are different from team to team. Next weekend is a tournament, so will be able to watch lots of Rugby. The old team will be there, and I may end up playing if I can Whore myself out to a team. Will see what happens. The guys on the team seem nice, and I am sure some of my gay friends will be drooling over some of them. Will know more as time goes on. Hard to make real opinions from only one 2 hour session. Will discuss later. off to get dinner done.

Which Invader Zim character are you? Tue, Apr. 1st, 2008, 08:02 pm Tooth Extraction and the aftereffects
Monday morning, I was taken to the dentist by the awesome Melissa. There, I had a tooth pulled. They told me to take a deep breath and lay back. Next thing I knew, they were getting me out of the chair, and it was all over with. Spent the rest of the day sleeping on the couch or watching TV. Not feeling any pain, but the empty hole keeps attracting my tongue. Spent today also sleeping on the couch. Still not at 100%, but gonna do the work thing tomorrow. Laters

Fri, Mar. 28th, 2008, 06:09 pm Things on my mind about the community
I just posted this on the Charles village community, but wondered if any of you might have suggestions too. I am now faced with a quandary. It seems the city after saying that the homestead credit did apply to the Surtax has turned around and said it does not. This will mean a HUGE increase in income for the CVCBD, and we could do some real good with it. That being said, it also means that a homeowner's surtax, specially for those who have lived here for a long time, will increase dramatically. Those people who bought within the past 4-5 years will have an increase, but not as dramatically as those who had a low property value before the reassessment. If the CVCBD does reduce the surtax to keep the homeowners burden down, then the rate must be capped at 5%, and will not really allow us to advance the safety program as I had hoped. So, I would like some feedback on what you would rather have: a strong safety program, or basically nothing but a supplemental sanitation program. In other words, are you willing to have a higher tax and more safety program or a lower tax and no safety program.

I is on LJ breaking the Strike. Just call me a Scab. if you hate it so much, leave LJ. When I started this Journal, you had to know someone on here to get a code to open a new journal. So, things have changed many times since I started writing here. Get over it, it's a business, and there is no such thing as a free ride. Love you all :)

Thu, Nov. 29th, 2007, 09:16 pm Gay Marriage in MD?
So, UCLA put out this report that it would be financially advantageous for the state to legalize gay marriage. Even though I'd like to have a legally recognized marriage to Dax, I don't like the idea that a state would simply do it to rake in more taxes. I want a state to do it because it is the right thing to do. The other thing that this got me thinking that trying to do taxes when a state recognizes the union, but the federal government does not, will be an absolute nightmare. So, what do you all think? will it happen, after all, O'Malley is after as much of our money as he can get his grubby hands on, as was shown with the raise in taxes he rammed down our throats that go into effect in a bit over a month. I can also see him doing it to get the gay vote for his eventual run on the White House. Guess we'll see what the regular session decides.
Thu, Nov. 29th, 2007, 08:40 pm 20 years on...
as hard as it is to believe, slightly more than 20 years ago I graduated from High School. This past weekend was my Class' 20th reunion. We drove up to attend it. it was interesting to go back, show Dax some more of my old hometown. Some things weren't quite as good as I remembered them. we had dinner before the reunion, and I remember the Italian restaurant being much better than it was that night. I don't know maybe they were off, but the sauce tasted liked canned, and the pasta was overcooked. We had met up with my best friend from High School for dinner. His son is over in the Middle East, but thankfully not in any direct fighting areas. After dinner, we headed to the reunion. seemed like everyone remembered me, though I had forgotten most of them. Many of the guys had gotten Heavier, Balder and Grayer. One guy seemed to have gotten some work done, but it was so obvious (his face was like glass unless he smiled, at which point his face cracked in all the wrong ways). it was fun to talk to the few people who I did remember, and meet their S.O. Everyone kept asking Dax if he was in the class. I found it interesting that many of the guys fell back into their old clicks, and seemed to stay in those groups. I fell back into my observer role, and as the night progressed, and the liquor loosened people up, they began to dance. The DJ started off with stuff from back in the 80's, but progressed to more recent stuff, like the newest piece of crap form J Timberlake. The thought that ran through my head was that their kids would be so embarrassed if they saw their parents dancing like that. But then Dax and I will do it on purpose, because we will be that type of parents. We did get stuck in the Holiday traffic towards the south end of the NJ turnpike, and in MD, but otherwise traffic was not too bad going up or coming back.
