Fri, Mar. 21st, 2008, 02:14 pm My top 10 1980s music video
Remember 1980s kids, there were music videos that awed you as a kid and still haunt your dreams. And sometime, you totally forgot the name of the band and the tile of the song, but never what you saw in it. here is mine: 10. Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World
1980s has the British New Wave, it was after the punk music and does represent the 1980s, Tears for Fears being imo the flag bearer of this musical genre. Why you watch the music video? The two black guys dancing by the gas pumps. 9. Tina Turner - We don't Need Another Hero
As a 1980s, I can remember movies or songs because of their mutual associations. Remember Patrick Swayze and his "She's like the Wind" in "Dirty Dancing"? This Tina Turner song sparked my curiosity for the Mad Max triology, ironical when people knows that the third Mad Max is the weakest of the trilogy. But it also sparked my unconditional love for the post-apocalyptical genre. There are something about this "After the end of days" atmosphere I love even more than space opera, cyberpunk and mech. Only two other sci-fi subgenres rival my love for post-apo, it's the Dying Earth genre and the planet opera genre (Dune). Why you watch the music video? Tina Turner and Mad Max. 8. Elton John - Nikita
1980s were the "good?" old days of the USA - USSR antagonism. On both sides, there were misunderstandings regarding the aspiration and wishes of the simplest people. "Nikita" music video made me realize that: below that aura of fear cast by the name of Soviet Russia, a sensible heart beat in the chest, and love can bloom. Why you watch the music video? Russian girls are hot and love does exist in Soviet Russia. 7. Kenny Loggins - Footloose
1980s has a few iconic "dance" movies, "Dirty Dancing", "Flashdance" and some I forgot. This music video caught me for two reasons: the beat of the song and the guy's dance. It's full of energy and a modern grace that is so... 1980s. Why you watch the music video? The guy's dance. 6. Michael Jackson - Thriller
Before this music video, the 1980s music videos were mostly the band or the guy singing in front of a psychedelic background. But "Thriller" was a revolution, it showed you can use them as a mean to tell a movie, a music video can sell a song and entertain or scare its viewers. Why you watch the music video? The music video that started it all. 5. Donna Summers - This Time I know it's for Real
The 1980s were also the last days of disco music, before it fades in oblivions, only upkept by the Saturday Night Fever nostalgia. This music video marked me because of its disco energy and this kind of happiness I remembered in most of my favorites. Why you watch the music video? Disco in its last sparks of glory. 4. Queen - A Kind of Magic
1980s were the golden years of one the greatest bands of all times. Yes, I mean Queen. Queen kinda started the music video thing because they needed to promote Bohemian Rhapsody when people wanted them everywhere. Queen and Freddie Mercury are icons of that time that is now gone but will always be remembered. How many of you will clap your hands togetehr at the beat of "We will Rock You"? How many of you will try to parody Wayne's World's Bohemian Rhapsody? Who among you have the "Queen" scene in the pub as favorite scene of Shaun of the Dead? Queen has left that deep of a mark Why you watch the music video? Freddie Mercury 3.U2 - Where the Streets Have no Name
Thise decade have also seen the rise of a irish band notable for a mix of melancholy and great energy. "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "With or Without You", "The Sweetest Things", but "Where the Streets have no Name" is my favorite U2 song, and its music video make me rank it #3. Why you watch the music video? Don't you feel the adrenalin pumping up your heart when Bono sings in the middle of an american city? 2. A-Ha - Take on Me
There were two music videos that totally haunted my deepest memories, I couldn't remember the title or the band, but I could still remember the tune and how their music videos went. "Take on Me" was one fo them. I remember it because of the awesome "Girl get dragged in a comic" trip and awesome cartoon + live actors mix ensued. I was eating at a mac donald when the small TV in the restaurant broadcasted the music video and I was like "OMG! THAT'S THE ONE!". The music video still bring a tear in my eyes and amaze at how things were when there were no CG. Kudos to A-Ha Why you watch the music video? Because never the combination of comic book cartoon and live actors has been that awesome. ( #1, my favorite music video of the 1980s! Ho ho ho ho!!! )Thu, Feb. 7th, 2008, 01:59 am New George Romero movie?
DO FUCKING WANT!
Sat, Jan. 26th, 2008, 05:55 pm 2008-2009 seems to be a good period for fighting games lovers
Of course, there are the BIG blockbusters like Soul Calibur 4 and Street Fighter 4. But Soul Calibur series was not really my cup of tea. Arc Systems is looking to confirm its status of worthy challenger against the three Big Ones, Namco, Capcom and SNK-Playmore. SNK-Playmore, while preparing KoFXII, is reviving the Samurai Spirits franchise while having the inspiration to not make yet another port of KoF98 with little new things but giving fans what they really want. I am now going to rank th upcoming games by level of interest.
#1. BlazBlue.
I know some people are going to blow a fuse just by seeing BlazBlue taking the top spot as the game I am looking forward the most. But first, I am a Arc Systems Works lover. I am glad they are finally trying something new, as in something that is not Guilty Gear. Here something that looks like Guilty Gear, is not Guilty Gear but is still retaining the Guilty Gear flair. By flair, I meant that whole mix of heroic fantasy, post-apocalyptic science-fiction and rock&roll.
BlazBlue is the third or fourth attempt to spread the three attack buttons + extra button command scheme.
As one of those games, Melty Blood has been made mainstream and is doing fairly okay in tournament. But something in it has killed what made the game fun to me, it's a game that, through various patches in its PC versions, has many opportunities to tone down overpowered retarded characters and tone up those stuck to the bottom or middle-low tier. In my eyes, they failed, some of the top tiers characters got toned down but lost what made them fun to play, some others of the top tier ranks are still retardedly powerful. To be frank, I am fucking sick to watch a Melty Blood match where Akiha or red Akiha win yet AGAIN. I have been trying to hone my little skills with Aoko Aozaki, but it's like playing KoF2002 Kyo against a monstruous offspring of KoF96 Iori, KoF97 Benimaru and KoF98 Goro.
Arcana Heart is the second attempt to spread the three + one button scheme. It started from a very good intention: the customization of characters' moveset via the Arcana System. But some little things kinda gimped its appeal. An all-female cast can be a nice card in the mainstream scene, but Arcana Heart has only a few characters that stand out, it was hit-or-miss with a very emphasis on miss. The package (background and music) felt uninspired, soulless and lifeless. Even KoF 2001 and 2002 I'd personally rank the worst ones in term of background settings and music felt.. more inspired. The too fast announcement of the revised edition is kinda awkward for me.
Then there are Sengoku Basara, but I'll elborate on it later.
What BlazBlue needs in its home console version is the support of online play.
PS: Oh! And Tomokazu Sugita as the male lead! I know some gundam fanboy who is already cringing over it.
#2. KoF98 Ultimate Battle.
As surprising as it is, I'd rank as second game I am anticipating the most. As I have said sometimes in IRC, I am not fan of remakes for the sake of milking the cow. I already cringed at Evangelion remakes. I mean, do we really need it when Gainax FINALLY redeemed from the atrocity they inflicted upon us with Shinji? Especially when they gave us Kamina and Simon? And as some of you know, I'll cringe over a FFVII remake.
What sparkled my interest in KoF98 is... the addition of things that fans demanded for so long. The BOSS TEAM. One of my favorite in KoF96 (I liked the three bosses). There are also Goenitz, Orochi, Kasumi and finally Eiji. SNK-Playmore is not just satisfied with giving more characters, they are doing small tweaks to the characters, toning up or/and down some characters, I am not too sure it would be that much. I can now make my team baldies (Mr Big, Chang and Choi) or team WTF Tall (Chang, Krauser and Heidern).
Another thing is also the tweaking of the both modes, especially extra mode that really needs it. Walk faster? All good. Can conserve the power up after having manually charged the power at max? Better. Then there are this third mode that seems like a resurrection of KoF96 system. God thanks they did not add the KoF99 funky slide.
One more thing, this game has not been just announced for home consoles, but also for arcades. It may breath new life in the KoF98 scene with the appearance of new characters and tweaks of extra mode. Let's hope we will see it some of those things in acho tournament videos (acho being an example).
Just like for BlazBlue, I do hope there will be a vs online feature.
#3. Sengoku Basara X.
I am curious to see how this collaboration of Capcom and Arc systems works will turn out to be. I am weak for weapon-based fighters, it's funnier when most of them are loosely based on historical figures. And the Engun system seems sort of cool. And I've played the european version, called Devil Kings for some stupid reasons. I do want a game with Wakamoto Norio and Mamiko Noto as two of the characters. And Sengoku Basara X is this game.
#4. Street Fighter 4.
This is Street Fighter. Enough said.
#5. Samurai Spirit Sen.
I am a lover of the samurai spirit series. I am loving the character cast they made. I am mostly worried that it lose its magic from the transition to 3D format.
Don't care, can kiss my ass, suck my dick

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HITLER-SAMA \^.^/ Fri, Feb. 10th, 2006, 10:33 pm RO-related rant
This is somehow related to the guild.
I am fucking sick of ex-Seiryoku members. I am sick of seeing them running off to Eternal|Asura (especially) or any other guild. I am fucking fed up with their "habits" to run away like rats w/o honestly telling Traven what he did wrong. Yes, I want honesty. I am sick of seeing them running off to those other guilds, in a downtime for Seiryoku, w/o giving one single reason. Ok, I already said that. What I can not take, it is the slander they spread. In their happy winning team, they go on accusing Traven of "ruining Seiryoku". WHAT DID YOU DO BITCHES? WHAT SOLUTION HAD YOU PROPOSED TO BREATH LIFE AND SPIRIT INTO THE GUILD? WHERE HAD YOU BEEN WHEN ERIC NEEDED ABOUT EVERYONE TO HELP THE GUILD TO GO THROUGH BAD TIMES? Yes, that's right, you ran off like little bitches and went to bitch about your former leader. You talk down to people like Patrick, under the mantle of your "seniority", claiming your words had more weight than the likes of Patrick or Adrian. Even if Adrian is one bitter bastard and is not appreciated by everyone, he did NOT ran off to his former guild when Traven's guild was in its worst shape. You can ran off to any guild you wish, as long you tell frankly to Traven why you did it. But you can not accuse Eric of ruining the guild when you ran away. Mon, Feb. 6th, 2006, 09:36 pm
In the long struggle of religious figures,
BUDDHA WON!
Only him is not remembered as a figure of religious fanaticism or oppression.
He is clearly the superior force! Mon, Feb. 6th, 2006, 12:56 pm
Classic music really do make me happy in the pants.
So does Hellsing Ultimate OAV. Thu, Jan. 26th, 2006, 03:25 pm Anime Music Video some people may like
Wed, Jan. 25th, 2006, 01:11 am I've watched very few jpn drama....
... and something that always bothered me, should it be the regular drama TV or the sentai: Jpn actors overdo their actor play. It doesn't look natural at all. Then again, french actors, when they play their intimist love triangle movies (husband who cheat on his wife who have a secret lover who is the husband's best friend), makes me cringe when they play arguing scenes. Fri, Jan. 13th, 2006, 04:12 pm Guys, some of you may browse 4chan or various net boards
but do not forget this when you come back to reality!
"A lot has been said about how to prevent rape. Women should learn self-defense. Women should lock themselves in their houses after dark. Women shouldn't have long hair and women shouldn't wear short skirts. Women shouldn't leave drinks unattended. Fuck, they shouldn't dare to get drunk at all.
Instead of that bullshit, how about:
If a woman is drunk, don't rape her. If a woman is walking alone at night, don't rape her. If a women is drugged and unconscious, don't rape her. If a woman is wearing a short skirt, don't rape her. If a woman is jogging in a park at 5AM, don't rape her. If a woman looks like your ex-girlfriend you're still hung up on, don't rape her. If a woman is asleep in her bed, don't rape her. If a woman is asleep in your bed, don't rape her. If a woman is doing her laundry, don't rape her. If a woman is in a coma, don't rape her. If a woman changes her mind in the middle of or about a particular activity, don't rape her. If a woman has repeatedly refused a certain activity, don't rape her. If a woman is not yet a woman, but a child, don't rape her. If your girlfriend or wife is not in the mood, don't rape her. If your step-daughter is watching TV, don't rape her.
If you break into a house and find a woman there, don't rape her. If your friend thinks it's okay to rape someone, tell him it's not, and that he's not your friend. If your "friend" tells you he raped someone, report him to the police. If your frat-brother or another guy at the party tells you there's an unconscious woman upstairs and it's your turn, don't rape her, call the police and report him as a rapist.
Tell your sons, god-sons, nephews, grandsons, and sons of friends that it's not okay to rape someone.
Don't just tell your women friends how to be safe and avoid rape. Don't imply that she could have avoided it if she'd only done/not done x, y, or z. Don't imply that it's in any way her fault. Don't let silence imply agreement when someone tells you he "got some" with the drunk girl. Don't perpetuate a culture that tells you that you have no control over or responsibility for your actions. You can too help yourself.
If you agree, repost it. It's important." Mon, Sep. 19th, 2005, 10:28 pm A nightmare....
One morning, I woke up in my home. Everything was silent, no cars, no planes, no people walking by. I stepped out of the home. Saw some shops opened. I stepped in and shouted "Hey! Anybody's here??". Silence were the only answer. I shrugged and proceded to take some food. I walked back home, loaded with food and sweets. I turned on the radio, only a new flash about an emergency that looped over and over. I turned on the TV, nothing. I turned on my computer, no internet connection. To deal with the boredom, I turned on winamp and read some books, waiting for my siblings and parents to come back. The evening came, nobody were back home. I slept this night, and woke up the next morning, nobody was here. And so on for the whole week. I've come to the conclusion that something really bad happened in my country and I may be one of the few survivors. I looted some shops for food and shampoo, toothpaste and soap. I decided to explore the surrounding cities by riding my sister's bicycle. I even went until Paris. I found nobody around. I've come to organize my daily life, looting some shops again for food but also for entertainment stuff such as DVDs, CDs or games. I thought that maybe the other countries will send rescue to check if anybody was still alive in my country. The rescue never came. Was I the last human being on this earth? I burnt trash to prevent any disease from spreading. I regularly took medics to prevent the same disease from hitting me. Weeks became months, months became years. I was alone and shouting at the surrounding buildings from the rooftop, because I felt I could turn crazy if I didn't hear a voice. I've become older, I forgot to cut my hair and shave my goatee. To get through the time that passed and forget my loneliness, I started again to draw, something I gave up when I was 14. One day, I had enough. I picked a gun and shoot through my heart. I could bear the sight of my body having a hole in the chest, not in the head. It was a long agony, and in my last second, I heard someone stepping in my home and saw a pair of legs.
