Well, I sort of have a new computer. I ended up doing something I very much didn't want to and couldn't afford to do. I went to the local Rent to Own place and got a new Dell laptop from them. The good news is that it seems to be working pretty well, and they are good about fixing or replacing it while it is under contract. The very bad news is that it wasn't cheap to begin with and by the end of the contract (over a year), I will end up paying twice that amount, as is the nature of these places. The weekly payments aren't cheap either and we're already about $500 or so behind on our bills with my husband not working much. He has picked up a few hours, since he mentioned to his boss that he was applying for factory work for the summer, she has managed to find him just enough part time work to keep him from going elsewhere, but not enough to be much more than his unemployment after transportation and taxes.

I couldn't be without a computer though. This thing is vitally important to me. Probably too much so, but I do bring in a little extra money using ebay or by designing websites for other people. By the way, if anyone is looking to have a fan website or domain hosted or designed, I do rehosting for other people, and if you pay by the end of the month, I'll give you a discount on a year's worth of hosting, or on a design quote.

If I can get them all together in the next few days, I'll put a list of ebay auctions for fan items up here to let you know where to find them, if you are interested.

As soon as I download some screencaps and visit some of the journals listed in my resource post to replace my textures and such, I'll be making some Torchwood and some Supernatural icons. I'm thinking about doing some quote/text ones after that, and was wondering if anyone was interested.

So, I went to the VA last Friday. I decided to bypass the ER and go straight to the Women's clinic to see if they could get me in. After sitting there and being ignored for most of an hour (they were busy), I pressed the issue and they said, that no, I should go to the ER, because they weren't able to see walk-ins, and even if they did, there was no guarantee that they would get my lab results back before the end of the day. Before I left, I did make sure to scheduele follow up appointments for the next available day (which was April 19th - 6 weeks away), which actually turned out to be pretty good foresight when it came to dealing with the ER and convincing them that I was serious about dealing with my problems.

Anyway, I am feeling better. I hope to get two stories posted later today (a pinch hit that is overdue of ncis_tinsel and a second story for winter_of_angel. Of course, that's if I don't fall asleep over the keyboard.

In spite of getting my butt kicked in the first round of sga_lims (5-way tie for 29/40), I signed up at smallville_lims, because they were very low on participants. There are only 15 of us in the first round, so you should consider signing up, before the end of the first challenge, next Friday, if you have any interest at all. My birthday is Wednesday, the last day of May. Ever since I can remember I have always celebrated it on Memorial weekend, except for the years I didn't care to celebrate it at all.

When I was growing up, it was the first big family get together of the summer, complete with a big bar-b-que, a party, and an Italian Rum cake (which I haven't seen since I left NY).

The year I turned 16, it fell on a Friday, the day between leaving high school and actually graduating. I had a sweet 16/graduation party.

The year I turned 18, I was in basic training, and my birthday actually fell on a Monday, so it was a national holiday and I got the day off.

This year, I turn 31, not much going on, but I have recieved several gifts this week that make me feel truly blessed, even though my r/l situation isn't exactly the best right now.

However, I did get to go see X-Men 3 last night, and that rocked, and I received 6 months of paid livejournal time, which I am happy about. As such, I added some more icons to my account (no more ad-supported lj - yeah).

I kind of like them... there will be a few more in the near future, I am sure, because I am trying to cover each of the fandoms that I regularly participate in, or that I enjoy.
