Call for Papers - Women and Leather

I usually dont post academically oriented stuff on here, especially conference related information. However, given that several academically minded leatherfolk are on here, I thought that this might be of interest:

Anyone interested?
There are a handful of restaurants/bars that I want to try - most of them new. If anyone is interested in hitting one of them, please do let me know.

Shay and I keep meaning to try Bar Ferdinand for their Sunday Brunch. Its tapas style.

Shay and I went to Deuce last night with a new acquaintance. I had the Cheesesteak Spring Rolls and the Empinada, both of which were absolutely amazing. I chose a Pinot Noir (from Oregon) to accompany it. Shay had the Rib Tips with Potatoes and Asparagus, which smelled absolutely fantabulous.

I am definitely on this Caribbean/Cuban kick. During Restaurant Week, my friend Andrea, her then boyfriend and I went to Cafe Habana. It was an excursion of poor planning. We were initially going to stop by Noir but it was far too crowded. We stopped by Tria and had a glass or two of wine and decided to head to Cafe Habana. The owner greeted us at the door (very cute gay boy). Even though they were booked up due to Restaurant Week, he found place for us at the bar. Their mojitos are OUT OF THIS WORLD!

A friend recently recommended Sabor to me. She has gone there for a friends birthday party (her friend is Martiniquan).

Vintage Wine Bar & Bistro - Tria

Wine bars have been popping up in Philadelphia. I have been to two of them - Vintage and Tria. I prefer Vintage, mainly because it isnt as pretentious as Tria. Also, the wine list at Vintage considerably more accesisble. The only critique I really have of Vintage is about one of its waiters - the male waiter with glasses. He is such a snot every time we are there. I am not sure if its me/us or if he is just that way in general. I stop by fairly frequently, and my friend Susan and I are starting to make a TGIF out of it.  The last two times that we went I felt considerably rushed. I ran into my friend Don (used to teach at Temple) and he decided to join us. As we were done eating, Don had to leave so we asked for the check. Susan and I were going to stay a bit longer and possibly order another glass of wine. So, we paid the check, Don goes to leave, the snotty waiter returns and I ask if its ok if we stay.....and he makes this face like "Well I would really really like to turn this table over." Mind you we had just spent over $100 between the three of us. He gets fairly irritated with me when I sit there and just have a glass or two of wine, while not ordering something from the menu.

I hope that th is info is useful....to someone! :-)

The War of the Cheeses :-)
For all of my cheese loving friends out there! What do you tihnk of this? Do you have a favorite? Do you prefer cheese from France, Italy, Germany, etc.? If there is a particular wine that you enjoy with your favorite cheese, please share as well. :-)

Personally, my favorite feta is actually from Morocco but it is really hard to find. I still prefer the brie my friend brings back from her trips to France. Even the imported brie (same brand) seems to taste different.

Fifteen years ago, Anto Baghassarian had a small shop in East Hollywood where he processed blocks of mozzarella from other manufacturers into the string cheese he learned to make at his family's business in Lebanon.

RSS Feeds

Is there a way to add RSS Feeds to my LJ blog? In particular I would like to add this blog and others like it to my LJ friends page feed. I am trying to mainstream all the blogs that I read into one spot. I know there probably isnt a way to import all of the blogspot blogs that I read.
