so i put on u.n.k.l.e.'s "drums of death" song because i knew jaden would love the breaks on it, and it got me thinking how much i miss the mo' wax label, which then got me thinking of another defunct brit label, cup of tea records. i put on their first compilation and monk & canatella came on and i was like, man what happened to those guys. come to find they're still doin' shit and have a new album out soon. that's neat.
back to mo' wax though, goddamn i miss that era of music. in my opinion, you'd be hard pressed to find a bad album in their entire discography. |

'Dancing Behind My Eyelids' off the new Múm album. The album as a whole is great, but this is one of the standout tracks. While definitely not at the level of perfection as the "Finally We Are No One" album, it does not disappoint. Thumbs up to them for their consistent perfect blend of traditional, electronic, and quirky instrumentation. Janice and I would love to go see them on Thursday, but since we've both seen them before, it can be one we (grudgingly) pass on. |

jaden took his first unassisted steps yesterday! sucks i was working and couldn't be there, but i was able to see him strut his wobbly stuff once i got home. janice was able to snag a bit of video. i'm pretty proud of the lil' chubs, especially since he's just a few days over 10 months. |

haven't really been on the up-and-up in regards to music these days, but the new albums i have heard this year have got me disoriented. albums that i would have thought to be a given in terms of goodness, have left me disappointed: bjork, muse, joanna newsom, the beasties instrumental. ones that i thought would be alright, but ended up blowing me away: the shins, the apples in stereo. and then yoko ono comes out of nowhere with her collaborative album of greatness. to say i'm feelin' yoko ono's new one more than bjork wierds me out. |

when the weather was consistently nice and summery, we had been doing little family picnics on sundays. now that the shift has been towards the fall, and janice and jaden have both had colds, the last two sundays we've gone for what is now to be known as, sunday pho.
this makes me happy.

jaden's a big fan of bangin' on shit, so obvious choice for a new toy was a drum. i'd actually been wanting to get him one for a while, but i'd been having a dickens of a time finding one. every "drum" type thing that i'd see in the store would be some plastic battery operated thing with buttons that would play some wack music. i was like, damn, is the concept of a skin or otherwise synthetic alternative stretched over a simple cylindric-like housing that archaic? have studies found that old-fashioned drums or toys in general don't stimulate babies minds enough or something? sheesh.
so i figured, if anyone will have a kid's drum, it's remo. picked up a tom on ebay and lil' man's been bangin' away.
