1)the above halloween card by this etsy seller made me laugh and laugh.
2)i'm finally getting over this cold, but boy did it kick my butt.
3)i had an interview today that was AWFUL. probably one of my worst interviews ever.
4)i think i've narrowed my costume ideas down to carmen sandiego or frida kahlo (frida would be fun- unibrow, flowers in my hair, and maybe a stuffed monkey).
5)my landlady gave me an update on the ceiling and then asked if wanted to take over apartment showing duties for reduced rent since the property manager is not able to do them. wtf?? why would i show other units when i hate my own?!

steph is coming into town! huzzah! oh yeah, and chris too. ;)
apartment update: landlady got back to me yesterday and said she and various contractors/subs were meeting at my apartment this morning to survey the problem and discuss how to proceed. apparently my strongly worded letter wherein i started quoting dates (i.e. i keep records) and quoting the lease (i.e. i actually read the lease) was enough for her to finally react. funny considering the last time i had told her the leak returned she simply replied with "the property manager already told me. thanks for making me aware. the maintanence guy will be coming around to fix it."
we'll see how this goes....

hey HEY! the soap factory's halloween haunted basement returns! runs oct.17th-Nov.2nd 6pm-12am not sure what it costs yet.
(i'll be working front of the house stuff a few of the nights, i think the 18th, 22nd and 28th, so come on down and say hi!)
other than that, my landlady and property manager have not responded to my letters to them about the leak. i think they've taken to just ignorning me. i'll be sending them another letter tonight. if i don't hear anything after that, i'll be taking some more serious action, whether it be 1)calling a health inspector and/or 2)taking legal action (i'm really concerned about the health issues with moisture in the ceiling). ughughughugh.

i have a deep hatred of my apartment. it's poorly maintained and the leak in my ceiling that i was told was "fixed" after i moved in, never was and it has continued to be a problem. i really really wish i could break the lease somehow, but i know that's a very long and touchy road to go down so i'm hoping i can withstand this place for 6 more months. ugh. i am writing my landlady a letter reminding her of the problem and the section of the lease that states management is to keep apartments in good repair.
also recently the apartment manager left a note by our mailboxes stating that the laundry facilities were temporarily out of service due to a recent break in. nice.
ugh. ugh. ugh. ugh.
pretty much i just don't want to be here. it's rundown and gross. i wish i had some place to stay temporarily just so i'm not "here." even if i'm still paying rent....i just don't want to be here.

2) my piece didn't sell at the $99 sale, but it was still an enjoyable event to work!
3) all those nights of not sleeping and running myself ragged have caught up to me and now i have a cold. bleh.
4) fall!!!!! warm beverages, hearty soups, cardigans, scarves, knitting.....yay! i LOVE fall!

(firstly, thanks so much to all the well wishes and concerns after my car accident! they really helped. thank you!)
anyway, i need more time! i've been a ball of stress lately and not having a car has been making everything that much more challenging. BUT i just got my money from the old car and am shopping for a new (used) one. the new car purchase is being expedited by a)necessity and b) the impending harvest.
art shows! i have a piece in the $99 2008 show at the soap factory. (200 pieces, all 5"x7" and signed on the back. all $99. columnist Dan Savage and "Juno" writer Diablo Cody have both submitted works this year. opening night is a $35 cover (it's a fundraiser for the soap). saturday afternoon is FREE and last chance to purchase any remaining works! show runs Sept. 19-20th.
i'll have another piece in the biennale show in november. also at the soap factory. (i'm on the committee for this one and it's also partly why i've been stressed lately).
i really need a nap.

friday night:ended up in st. paul at gabe's by the park then keenan's. saturday: GORGEOUS DAY for the renn fest! later in the evening headed to the Nomad to see Mama Digdown! sunday:hung out with the family. then saw "pineapple express." i think i'd find it a lot funnier a second time around because i'll have gotten over the initial "wtf?!" reaction i had. (very different from the other apatow/rogen films in that it's an action film. there was a surprising amount of carnage and gore. but there was an underlying element of the ridiculous. they were purposely goofing around with the "action film" themes).
also holy god! i have a meeting at 7:45 IN THE MORNING tomorrow! BRUTAL!
and i just switched my enrollment from a drawing course to a beginning french course.

well folks, the summer days are passing by at what seems light speed! the state fair is the first sign summer is ending (p.s. one of the new foods this year is applewood bacon that's been dipped in chocolate). i always put a higher priority on the renn fest though. more my speed. plus i can get my beer cheese soup in a breadbowl. mmmmm. hot soup in 80+ degree weather.
i watched "an american werewolf in london" last night. within the first few minutes jerry pointed out that one of the guys looked like dan and it was weird. like, REALLY WEIRD. the guy would turn his head and it was like, "woah! dan!"

Your result for The Director Who Films Your Life Test... Woody AllenYour film will be 65% romantic, 38% comedy, 17% complex plot, and a $ 18 million budget.
Be prepared to have your life story shot entirely in New York City -- though lately Woody's been loving shooting in London. Also, your music soundtrack is all jazz from before 1949. Filmography: Annie Hall, Manhattan, Stardust Memories, Everyone Says I Love You, Match Point, Scoop, etc. Woody has released one film per year consistently for the past 35 years. For the past 15 years he's been trying to make films like his older, funnier ones, just like characters in his Stardust Memories film suggest throughout. Regardless of his personal life, his films are American classics. Take The Director Who Films Your Life Test at HelloQuizzy ******** not bad. i could see him being my director. him or wes anderson, sofia coppola or jean pierre jeunet.

ok, so i was going to talk about awesome stuff like eating at taiko sushi but nothing, NOTHING can compare to this:
(sorry for the weird cropping/white space)
this dood was hanging outside of my work. two of my coworkers came back from lunch talking about some weird bunny, so of course me and another coworker had to go see. word spread fast that i got photo evidence and everyone's reaction was a mix of horrified fascination. i was asked to email it to a bunch of people, including my boss. haha!
the general consensus from everyone is that it was probably a lab experiment that got loose. we based this on the location and it's complete lack of fear of humans despite being surrounded by many many people.
oh and it's WEIRD MUTATED HEAD!
ok, nevermind, apparently it's just a bunny with an illness that causes horn-like growths to protrude from its head.....so, basically it's a jackalope.
