I had the same problem with this corset as the *Inked Girls* a few corsets back - the #3 & 4 panels were too small to fit the fabric's design on without looking dumb. So, I substituted two black silk panels again. I think it still came out gorgeous!

I adore this fabric! I hate working with PVC, though. What a BITCH. Ugh. It was worth it, tho. :D

The bottom edge is not misaligned - it actually lines up perfectly. It just looks like that because of the angle I shot it at...

One of my (semi)regular clients asked me to make parts of her Celeste Morne costume for an upcoming event. Even though I had almost no time to get it done, I accepted the rush order (4 weeks - yikes!) because I needed the money, and it's an awesome portfolio piece. Plus, she's an amazing client to work with. Alas, that's my last rush order for a long time, until my backlog is caught up. I'm kinda happy about that, I'm not gonna lie. No more rush orders. No more ComFest. Just straight corset-making madness. Whee!

The costume doesn't look like much on the dressform, but it was a TON of work. The pants and corset top are meant to be skin tight. It doesn't help that I only have parts of the costume here, either (she has other artists working on the other pieces of it). The top looks all floppy and crooked, but it's not. It's just not one of my standard corsets, and it's made of (get this!) stretch satin (!!!!) fused to an inner lining. It is very lightly boned (and only in the lining). The pants had to match the top and belt pieces, so everything was made out of stretch satin. What a BITCH to work with. Oh, and if it looks kind of puffy, that's because it's quilted. You read that right. QUILTED.

The belt pieces will be snapped into a belt she's constructing, along with the armor. I just shoved them up under the top so you can get the general idea. The pants are white stretch satin (obviously), with a faux black hotpant sewn right to it, and stirrups to keep them in her boots. She's good about sending photos, however, so once I get images of the whole ensemble, I'll post here.

Wasn't the greatest of years this year. A crappy economy + multiple rainstorms = poopy sales. Ah well, there's always next year. At least you all can see what I've been up to for the past few months. Preparing for what should be my biggest money-maker of the year. God, I hope that's not an actual indication of what the rest of the year will be like... yeow.

I'm just glad it's over. By the time I reach ComFest itself, I'm so burnt out from working 7 days a week non-stop that I can hardly bear to sit in that booth the entire weekend. I just wanna take a nap!

This corset turned out absolutely gorgeous. The client requested Inked Girls for the entire corset, but because the #3 & #4 panels were so narrow, I was not able to successfully lay out the pattern on them. I spent half a day laying out the fabric for this corset, and tried every combination possible. Nothing looked right. So, I opted for two black silk dupioni panels in the middle, and it looks amazing.

Per usual, I'm behind with posting completed corsets. Now that ComFest is over, I'll be rolling them out like it's my job (cuz, well, it is). I have to get caught up asap, because I need to pick up a second job soon. Sales are slow. eBay sales are non-existent. No one has money for luxuries like a custom corset, and I'm over giving them away on Etsy and eBay. The *clients* I get from those sales are among the rudest and pushiest, and get their corsets for next to nothing [no Etsy or eBay client reading this entry should feel offended - those comments are not directed at you. The folks I'm referring to aren't among my readership here].

I'm not sure what the future of SugarKitty holds. If there is one, at this point. I'm very angry at my soon-to-be-ex these days. Very angry indeed.


Enough whining! On to the corset!

I'm really bummed about how the photos of this corset turned out. I had it on the wrong resolution, to begin with. I also had no dressform to fit it, so I just had to shoot it flat. My client promised me photos, so hopefully you'll get to see it on it's handsome owner in the very near future. :)

I'm way behind in posting finished corsets. I suck at life these days, haha. I finished this one a few weeks ago.

Well, not all of it. But a great deal of it. It was almost down to the middle of my back. I've been wanting to do something new with it for a long time, including cutting it. I've been dragging my feet because I have been growing it for almost 3 years. I had a pixie cut when my husband proposed to me, and began growing it long for our wedding. It didn't quite make it by the time we got married, but I continued to grow it anyhow.

I decided yesterday was as good a day as any to finally make a change...


The ponytail was a good 9" long!!

See, I told you she was awesome about taking photos for me. :) And SEE - it looks much better on her than the stupid dressform.

This corset turned out SO AWESOME. But, as usual, I'm foiled by crappy photographs. The client I made this for is exceptionally good at getting me photos, so I'm not too worried about it. It will look much better on her. The PVC doesn't sit smoothly on a dressform because it's hard, and PVC is just unruly to begin with.

Here's the photos of the original corset I started to make for my trade model. Once I realized it was too small, I decided to finish it more simply than the one I sent her. I haven't decided if I'm selling it yet (because we are embarassingly broke), or if I'm going to keep it as a sample for a big show I have coming up.

The most adorable Jen (ste_mairet) sent me these lovely photos of her wearing her Miss Rose corset. I'm also fortunate enough to be making a dress and top for her in the very near future. :D

I haven't had time to go all the way through the contact sheets from the photographer, but he sent me a few that he's already edited.

FINALLY finished this corset today. It's a prize for the first place winner of the semi-annual Java's Bachelor Pad Cheesecake Contest. I sponsor every contest. It's really hard to add prize corsets into my already overloaded work roster, so it's very easy for them to get put on the back burner. :P Because it's a prize corset, it's not made any differently than my standard ones, but it is less-heavily boned.

Here's the second corset for my trade model! Finished just in time, too. :P Also, introducing new neck corsets!! I think I will make the pattern a little wider (meaning, the circumference around the neck) next time around, but I'm pleased with my preliminary efforts.

I actually made this too small the first time around. I'm an idiot. That's what happens when I'm overwhelmed and rushed and stressed and trying to rush through something. Ugh. I finished it as-is, however, and plan to sell it as a sample soon. Look for photos of that coming up in the next day or two!

This is another sample for my trade model, Maria Bella. She has a shoot scheduled May 3. I have another corset, almost complete, that I'll be sending as well (pictures tomorrow, hopefully).
