Last night during the All Star game, classless Yankee fans booed at Papelbon while he was pitching. They also chanted "Overrated!" while he was trying to win the game for the American League. Unfortunately it rattled him to the point of giving up the go-ahead run. But mission accomplished for the bitter morons at Yankee stadium! They also booed at every other Red Sox player. And It all started because of an interview with Papelbon before the game, about whether he or Rivera should be the closer.
"If I was managing the team, I would close," Papelbon said. "I'm not managing the team, so it don't matter." "We've both earned that right; us, by winning the World Series and having the opportunity of having our manager there and our team being represented, and Mariano by what he's done for this role, we're in Yankee Stadium and blah, blah, blah," Papelbon said. "It's not that easy. Everybody thinks it's a cut and dry answer, but it's not." So, NY published a "witty" response:

But it's OK for Rivera to say the same thing -in fact- he does it "Respectfully":.. When the subject of who should close out the game for the AL tonight was broached, Rivera respectfully tabbed himself as the most worthy candidate. "It's definitely tough, but we're here in Yankee Stadium. I think I should get the shot," Rivera said. "I definitely would love to. Knowing Francona, I have a feeling he'll put me there if we have the opportunity to close the game." I'd post the picture response to Rivera's comments, but Boston didn't sink to that level. Papelbon had a real point about why it doesn't matter that they played at Yankee Stadium -- Boston won they world series, and it's tradition for the winning team to dominate the All Star game. You would THINK Yankee fans would know this considering the 26 rings they constantly brag about.
But in the end the American League won the game, and Red Sox player J.D. Drew got the MVP award, HA! |
