The annotated script for Return of the King is now available. Follow the links to get the extended version and see 328 annotations from the books.
Many thanks to Kevin who found most of them! And thanks to my son for naming us the geekiest people on the face of the earth. ;)
I'm not sure we found all of them. If you know of a line or phrase in any of the Lord of the Rings movies that comes from the books, reply here to let me know!

The transcript of the extended Return of the King is now available. Click here and then click the extended link at the bottom of the navigation bar.
The next update will be annotations for both versions of the Return of the King script. Annotations are book quotes that are used in the movie. Please comment if you have one! Just give the movie quote, and the book quote and the chapter and page. Anyone who contributes to the project will be mentioned in the transcript credits.

The stupidring links page has been updated. I've added some great new sites and cleared away some of the older ones. Tolkien Top 100 and Tolkien World are acting cranky, but I think all the other links are working.
If you'd like to suggest a new link, comment below!
There's also a new song parody here, and a rather gruesome Entish poem here. I had a new song parody by Cutee Jo, but I lost it! >_< Cutee Jo, if you're reading this please send it to me again!

A transcript of ROTK is now available here. The script isn't annotated yet (no book references), but there's plenty of dialog that comes almost straight from the books. If you spot one, please leave a comment and let us know!
Script corrections are also appreciated.

Have you noticed the little details (and jokes) that run through more than one of the Lord of the Rings movies? Here are a few examples:
- Sam hits orcs with a pan in FOTR, and he hits Gollum with one in ROTK.
- When Pippin finds an apple at Isengard (TTT Extended Version) he looks up. He does the same when Strider hit him with an apple in FOTR.
- Theoden's "I know your face. Eowyn." is in both TTT and ROTK.
- The counting game between Legolas and Gimli continues from TTT to ROTK.
- Peter Jackson and his children have appeared in all three movies.
Please leave a comment if you can think of any others.

The Extended version of the Two Towers transcript is now on the site. Just go here, and click the link for the Extended Edition. The new scenes are highlighted with a lighter background.
I've included some annotations, but those are by no means completed. I know that some of Treebeard's speeches have been taken from Tom Bombadil, and there are probably several others that I've missed. You're welcome to join the geeky fun, just find a passage in the books that matches a movie quote and post it below. (Include the chapter and page number and a screen name to get credited on the transcript webpage.)

The Favorite Little Things lists have been a favorite at Stupidring since we created the site. I originally started the list for the Fellowship because I felt that too many fans were getting bogged down with what was missing from the movie -- to the point where they weren't enjoying the great stuff that was there.
Since then, the lists have been great for sharing many of the wonderful little details of the movies. Like they say in the DVD extras, it's the details that make the cultures, and the details that make Middle-earth look and sound amazingly real.
If you've enjoyed the lists for FOTR and TTT, here's your chance to contribute to the list for the Return of the King. Just read the guidelines and then click "Post a comment" to add your favorite little thing.
Participants please read:
- Responses may be used on Stupidring.com. Long movie reviews probably won't make it to the list. Try to be less verbose than me (Idril).
- There are plenty of places to talk about what you don't like about the movie. This list is for the stuff you do like.
- I usually put these in chronological order, so any help you can give me about the scene you're referring to would be greatly appreciated.
- Duplicates are okay (as you can tell from the other lists.)
- Please sign your first name, a screen name or a nickname. (Which reminds me. If you're 13 or over you can now get a free livejournal account with no invite code. It's free. Just click here and sign up.)
- I'm not going to read the comments myself until after I see the movie! Please email me if the trolls get out of hand.

I've made some corrections to the Two Towers transcript and added several new book citations (for a total of 256 quotes from the books). Sam's speech near the end of the movie came from several different sources, including one of the most moving passages of the books. Thanks to the anonymous poster who helped me find most of them.
The transcript for the extended version is in the works!

I found these mixed in with the Tinkle Ring entries. Cool!
Any character: That's a great idea, Pippin.
Legolas: Ooo! Look at that puddle! Let's go splash in it! Aragorn: No way! I'm already filthy enough.
Gandalf: Good! If the Nazgul kill Frodo, I won't ever have to deal with him again.
Gimli: There is no way I can jump that gap. Please toss me, Legolas.
Sauron: You brought my ring back? Thanks, but I've got this nice patch of garden & ocean-front property w/ a dock & beach access. I don't want the ring. Besides, that whole "Ruling the World" thing is SO overrated.
Eowyn: Please can I lead the people to Helm's Deep so that I don't have to stay & fight?
Denethor: Oh Faramir, my son! You are so much smarter, nicer, and braver that that prat Boromir.
Gimli: Why don't we make an Elf take the ring to Mordor?
Boromir: Aragorn's the heir to the throne of Gondor? Hot diggity! You are a blessing, man. Gondor NEEDS a king.
Merry: I don't think we should steal that firework, because Gandalf WILL find out & its dangerous.
Balrog: Oh My God! It's Lij, Dom, Billy, & Orli! Wait guys, I want you autographs! WAIT!!!
Gollum: We lovessss you! You lovesssssss usssss!
Elrond: Aragorn, will you please marry my daughter already so she'll quit moping around Rivendell?
& now my very favorite:
Pippin: No thanks, I've already eaten. Encore! Encore!

Apparently the madness of Tinkle Ring is contagious. Katiehobby sent these to me by email:
~ Gimli: "NOT THE TINKLE!" ~ Grima: "You tinkle much, Eomer son of Eomund." ~ Boromir: "Glimmering like a spike of pearl and tinkle." ~ Butterbur: "I remember, elderly chap, big pointy tinkler." ~ Aragorn: "What do you fear, my lady?" Eowyn: "A tinkle."
And MissBloom sent these: Fool of a Tinkle!! But it cannot tinkle in the Shire! You shall die before you tinkle Light as a feather, but as hard as dragon tinkle. So cold, yet so fair, like the morning tinkle.
Please feel free to add your own! Just remember that StupidRing can't be responsible for any resulting brain damage.

Share your Lord of the Pants quotes. Here are the rules:
Take a quote from LOTR (books or movie) and substitute the word "pants" for any other word in the passage. For example: "The pants of Umbar!" men shouted. "The pants of Umbar! Look! The pants of Umbar are coming!" You have to use the word "pants", not "pant". Don't change any of the other words. It should be funny if at all possible.
And here's one to start us off:
"I know half of pants as well as i'd like... and I like less than half of pants half as well as pants deserve" -Bilbo Baggins
Enjoy!

Eibhinn has written another hilarious chapter of Lord of the Bling, and I've finally gotten Part 13 up. If you like it as much as I do, please drop by gandizzle's Live Journal and let the author know.
I did received a couple of comments complaining that there wasn't an adequate warning for adult language. I've added a full-page warning so you have to click to continue to the story.
However, contrary to what was posted in the guestbook, the story isn't NC-17. An NC-17 rating is given to movies which have graphic or disturbing sexual content or violence, and LOTB contains neither of those. It does contains adult language and the traditional Tolkien pipeweed = marijuana joke. It's also exceedingly funny.
Our other update is new Beatles song parody by the lovely and talented Cutee Joe. Check it out! :)
Coming soon: The guestbook will be phased out and this journal will be used for feedback. Also there will be threads here for Lord of the Pants and Tinkle Ring entries. Check back soon for those!

Annotations were on the back burner for several months, but finally we've made some progress. The annotations for the new scenes in the FOTR Special Extended Edition DVD are ready!
We also have a lot of annotations for The Two Towers. More will probably trickle in over the next few months.
Annotations so far: Fellowship of the Ring - 311 FOTR Additional Scenes - 63 The Two Towers - 220
*An annotation is a quote from the book that's similar to the movie dialog.

Yes, it's been a while, but I have a few updates to the site.
One is a very cool new poem by Hobbitfeet here. I also added a link to a place called Wacko Middle Earth.
The main update isn't quite ready yet. There's a new parody, but I need to make sure the author approves of the page before going public with it. I think you all are going to like it! :)
Hopefully the updates will be coming a little more often. However I'm going to have to stop taking individual jokes by email as they take a lot of time to compile and that stopped being fun a couple of months ago. If anyone would be interested in helping with submissions, please let me know. You can comment here or email me at idrilcelebrindal[at]aol.com.
Thanks! Idril

Finally!
Thanks to some really hard work by Aenya, Celendine, Elhina and a bunch of other true fanatics, the transcript for The Two Towers is finally finally ready for prime time.
The next step should be annotations. That's where we add references for a script vs book comparison of the dialog. If you know of a line in the script that matches the book, please feel free to add a comment here.
