WORKSHOP: Tarot For Writers Takes You On A Hero's Journey

  Tarot By Arwen will be offering a Tarot For Writers online workshop. This is a brand new workshop that will focus on plotting a novel utilizing the hero's journey spread. Workshop will run from June 22 through July 25, 2008.

This workshop will consist of 13 lessons with the first being an overview introduction to the divination system known as Tarot. Each lesson will have an assignment. Your instructor will give feedback on every one's assignment. The focus will be on you interpreting the story as you see it in each individual card. This workshop is suitable for any fiction genre.

You are expected to turn the assignments in on time so that your instructor can do her job on time as well. This is a participation-expected class. You need to commit to participating or you will not get as much out of the class.

The goal of this workshop is to help you learn a new way of plotting using the Tarot cards. You can expect to have an outline for your next manuscript or you can expect to have your current manuscript's plot sorted out.

SPREAD: Meadow Musings

  I walk the dogs a lot. One of them is a puppy who likes to go out frequently. I try to indulge him. We have a small field next to us. Well, okay, so it's the front sloping lawn of the church. Still it's lush and green right now. Sort of like life I've decided.

Life is a green field dotted with flowers of several types. There are some weeds as well. And, if you live where I live, every now and again, there is a sharp prickly ball of cactus waiting to stab the unwary. I've been thinking about a spread that would take on this metaphor of life as a meadow. Laying out cards in my head. Naming positions. None of them really fit what I wanted to say.

SPREAD: Killing My Muse

  Recently I responded to another author's journal about "Why Do YOU Write?. She responded. I responded back. One of the things that came out of that back and forth was this
Sometimes I wonder... if we have muses, if we don't also have enemies of our muse. Those thought patterns that continually try to tear us down. In Tarot reading, I call these "old tapes" and they seem to be related to our own feelings of inadequacies that are usually (not always, but usually) fed by our own dark selves.


Then I said, "Hmmm...and now I am seeing a need for a Tarot spread that answers the question "Am I Killing My Own Muse". Well FINE! Lol. I guess now I have a mission."

SPREAD: Polyamourous Relationship (Adding A 3rd Partner)

  One unique problem in a polyamourous relationship is the idea of adding someone to an established family. Whether that is a family of 2 or more, the addition of even one more will add to and take away from the dynamics of that group. I looked for a spread that might be used for this, but found none. Then someone asked a similar question on Aeclectic Tarot. So I dove in to design a spread to address this question of what do we need to do when we add someone.
