    Homework for Wednesday night night was:

    HOMEWORK FOR THURSDAY NIGHT:

    App Tech:

    We printed out the Works Cited page for the reasearch paper on Wednesday. Today there is NO CLASS because an Activity Period is going on today. Tomorrow [Friday] Mr. Orchulli will be in class to go over some Career Ed information.

    Tuesday Assignments [For Sub]
    Applied Tech:

    Students are to continue using easy bib to add to the bibliography required for the research paper. Work in pairs to help each other and by the end of class have your bibliography completed and saved to your App Tech folder on H. Name the file:

    yourlastname_workscited

    Tomorrow we will print them and add them to the cover that was already printed.

    Algebra I:

    Students are to get their folders out and find worksheet 1.6. Finish the worksheet by completing the problems on a separate sheet of paper. Put the worksheets back into the folders when done and put all of the folders back where they were stored. We will correct the sheets on Wednesday. Students make work together in pairs if needed.

    Folders for period 5A can be found on the black cart in the front of the room.
    Folders for period 6 are in the box on the shelf where the phone is.

    Have a nice easy day. Stay warm and dry. It is messy out today.

    Monday...Week 7
    Algebra I:

    All back work was graded and returned. Progress reports were distributed.

    We took notes on Functions and did examples from sect 1.7

    Homework for tonight: p. 49, 1-9...write it our and show work.


    App Tech:

    We started recording the resources used in creating the research paper by using Easy Bib.
    We will complete the Easy Bib assignment on Tuesday and then start assembling information for movies.

    App Tech:
    Students learned how to create orignal graphics using MS Publisher. The class started to create covers for their projects and the covers will be used to place on the research paper we finished on Monday. Covers must be finished by the end of class Wednesday provided freshmen do not have an assembly. IF there is an assembly, the covers are due by the end of class on Thursday.

    Alg I:
    Students went to the computer lab to continue learning how to make graphs and charts in Excel. Students were asked to identically replicate the charts from a magazine article that detailed math classes taken by 13 and 17 year olds. Students will report to the lab again on Wednesday to finish the project.

    Monday: Week 6
    This week is Violence and Vandalism Week

    Look for an announcement about assemblies to be held this week and how it will alter your schedule.


    Alg I:

    We went to Room 44 and completed the Excel project for the day. Tomorrow we are back in the lab and wil finish making the last graphs.

    App Tech:
    Today was the last class for typing research papers. We will meet on Wed and start adding graphics and making a cover for it.
    Students will be in an assembly on Tuesday.

    Finally Friday!!! Yeah!
    OK, we are halfway through marking period 1. So far the results are great. Unfortunately neither Alg class met the 90 average goal. However, I am optimistic that we can do it by the end of the marking period.



    Algebra I:
    No homework from Thursday and none for tonight. On Monday report to the computer lab so we can start the Exel project.

    In class today we worked on worksheet 1.6.....Tables and Graphs. Pd 5 will resume the activity on Wednesday.

    App Tech:
    Students continued to type the mini-research papers. This paper should be 1.5 - 2 pages in length. No header or title should be on the document as we will be making a cover. This paper is due at the end of class on Monday.

    Have a great weekend. Lets hope the sun shines on us.

    App Tech:

    In class on Wed we discussed new innovations in technology. In class on Thursday we started to type the 2 page research paper based on the auto summaries conducted on text found on research web sites.

    Algebra I:

    p. 44...pick ONE problem and set it up for class tomorrow.

    In class today [Thursday]. We will go to the computer lab on Monday to make graphs in Excel.

    Period 4 Applied Technology
    Students are to read the article:

    Malicious Software turns PSP into a “brick”

    After reading the article they are to summarize the story in their own words. The summary should be done in MS Word. Students should save the document as:
    Theirname_summary

    They may give it a title of their own choice. Documents should be formatted as required by the course and printed and collected.


    Period 5a [room 86] and Period 6 [room 64] Algebra I:

    Students are to complete worksheet 1.5
    Work is to be done on a separate sheet of paper and attached to the worksheet and collected.

    Answers can be one-word answers

    APP TECH RESEARCH PAPER REQUIREMENTS
    Research paper [dealing with one of the 5 topics mentioned previously] is to be approximately 3 pages long. This includes the cover. The document is to be double spaced and justified using Arial font size 12. Most papers will be about 1.5 pages to 1.75 pages in length.

    Students are to write in detail about the topic using facts and information found on reputable and reliable sites.

    Thursday's Work
    Algebra I:

    Students are to complete worksheet 1.4 for homework. All work is to be done on a separate sheet of paper. All work is to be shown. Worksheet is to be graded. Quiz tomorrow.


    App Tech:

    Students learned how to do an auto-summary in a word document after which they started going through web sites accumulated on the Research List Word document for facts to be used in the research paper.

    Students continued searching the net for information regarding one of the 5 topics. Web URLs and page titles along with a short description are to be added as work is done. Pages with good potential graphics are denoted with an asterisk.

    Algebra I:

    Students completed Guided Practice then completed 14 - 28 even on page 35 in class.
    Homework for Wednesday is:
    p. 36, 30 - 48 even


    App Tech:

    Students created a Word document that will be used to organize research conducted on one of the 5 topics listed on Monday's information. The document lists the name of the web site, the URL and a brief description of what is contained on the site. Sites will exceptional graphics are to be noted with an asterisk next to the name of the site.


    Once again, STUDENT EMAIL ACCOUNTS ARE AVAILABLE. Homerooms will be coming to Room 44 to set them up, however if you let me know ahead of time that you want to do it on your own I can give you the directions.

    Students searched for information on:

    3. Social Engineering
    4. Password Protection
    5. Computer Morality and Ethics

    Students are to choose one of them for a research topic by the end of class. By the end of the project students will complete a typed document and a multi-media presentation. Document requirements will follow shortly.

    No Homework over the weekend!
    In class today we corrected worksheet 1.3 and took a section quiz. I will run progress reports once I enter these grades and hand them out on Monday.


    App Tech:
    The class formulated a way to grade the slides created for the class searching project. We then scored the sheets and printed out the results.

    Students printed their evals for the slides and then discussed what made a good slide.

    Students began the self-evaluation of slides completed for the Searching project.
    we will finish scoring them in class on Thursday.

    Tuesday, Week 4
    Freshmen: Hope your trip was awesome!

    Algebra I:

    In class yesterday, upper classmen were given worksheet 1.2 [the same sheet freshmen were given in class on Friday]. This sheet was to be taken home and completed. I have a stack from period 5 and will return these in class to be graded. After we grade these, we will take a quiz on section 1.2

    Homework for tonight is:
    p. 16 - 17, copy examples 1, 2 & 3 into your notes
    p. 19, complete 4 - 11, write out all problems and show all work

    App Tech:

    Students are to make one slide that exemplifies their best work on the Searching document. Slides are to be completed by the end of class. We will look at these slides tomorrow in class.
